Leviticus 4.
4:1 The LORD said to Moses,
4:2 "Say to the Israelites: 'When anyone sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD'S commands--
4:3 "'If the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, he must bring to the LORD a young bull without defect as a sin offering for the sin he has committed.
4:4 He is to present the bull at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting before the LORD. He is to lay his hand on its head and slaughter it before the LORD.
4:5 Then the anointed priest shall take some of the bull's blood and carry it into the Tent of Meeting.
4:6 He is to dip his finger into the blood and sprinkle some of it seven times before the LORD, in front of the curtain of the sanctuary.
4:7 The priest shall then put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense that is before the LORD in the Tent of Meeting. The rest of the bull's blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
4:8 He shall remove all the fat from the bull of the sin offering--the fat that covers the inner parts or is connected to them,
4:9 both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the covering of the liver, which he will remove with the kidneys--
4:10 just as the fat is removed from the ox sacrificed as a fellowship offering. Then the priest shall burn them on the altar of burnt offering.
4:11 But the hide of the bull and all its flesh, as well as the head and legs, the inner parts and offal--
4:12 that is, all the rest of the bull--he must take outside the camp to a place ceremonially clean, where the ashes are thrown, and burn it in a wood fire on the ash heap.
4:13 "'If the whole Israelite community sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD'S commands, even though the community is unaware of the matter, they are guilty.
4:14 When they become aware of the sin they committed, the assembly must bring a young bull as a sin offering and present it before the Tent of Meeting.
4:15 The elders of the community are to lay their hands on the bull's head before the LORD, and the bull shall be slaughtered before the LORD.
4:16 Then the anointed priest is to take some of the bull's blood into the Tent of Meeting.
4:17 He shall dip his finger into the blood and sprinkle it before the LORD seven times in front of the curtain.
4:18 He is to put some of the blood on the horns of the altar that is before the LORD in the Tent of Meeting. The rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
4:19 He shall remove all the fat from it and burn it on the altar,
4:20 and do with this bull just as he did with the bull for the sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven.
4:21 Then he shall take the bull outside the camp and burn it as he burned the first bull. This is the sin offering for the community.
4:22 "'When a leader sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the commands of the LORD his God, he is guilty.
4:23 When he is made aware of the sin he committed, he must bring as his offering a male goat without defect.
4:24 He is to lay his hand on the goat's head and slaughter it at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered before the LORD. It is a sin offering.
4:25 Then the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.
4:26 He shall burn all the fat on the altar as he burned the fat of the fellowship offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for the man's sin, and he will be forgiven.
4:27 "'If a member of the community sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD'S commands, he is guilty.
4:28 When he is made aware of the sin he committed, he must bring as his offering for the sin he committed a female goat without defect.
4:29 He is to lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter it at the place of the burnt offering.
4:30 Then the priest is to take some of the blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.
4:31 He shall remove all the fat, just as the fat is removed from the fellowship offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar as an aroma pleasing to the LORD. In this way the priest will make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven.
4:32 "'If he brings a lamb as his sin offering, he is to bring a female without defect.
4:33 He is to lay his hand on its head and slaughter it for a sin offering at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered.
4:34 Then the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.
4:35 He shall remove all the fat, just as the fat is removed from the lamb of the fellowship offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar on top of the offerings made to the LORD by fire. In this way the priest will make atonement for him for the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven.
Psalms 1.
1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
1:3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
1:4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
1:5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
1:6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Psalms 2.
2:1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
2:2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One.
2:3 "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
2:4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
2:5 Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
2:6 "I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill."
2:7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father.
2:8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
2:9 You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery."
2:10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.
2:11 Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling.
2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
Proverbs 19.
19:1 Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.
19:2 It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.
19:3 A man's own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the LORD.
19:4 Wealth brings many friends, but a poor man's friend deserts him.
19:5 A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will not go free.
19:6 Many curry favor with a ruler, and everyone is the friend of a man who gives gifts.
19:7 A poor man is shunned by all his relatives--how much more do his friends avoid him! Though he pursues them with pleading, they are nowhere to be found.
19:8 He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers.
19:9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will perish.
19:10 It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury--how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!
19:11 A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.
19:12 A king's rage is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.
19:13 A foolish son is his father's ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping.
19:14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.
19:15 Laziness brings on deep sleep, and the shiftless man goes hungry.
19:16 He who obeys instructions guards his life, but he who is contemptuous of his ways will die.
19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.
19:18 Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to his death.
19:19 A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty; if you rescue him, you will have to do it again.
19:20 Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.
19:21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD'S purpose that prevails.
19:22 What a man desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar.
19:23 The fear of the LORD leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.
19:24 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he will not even bring it back to his mouth!
19:25 Flog a mocker, and the simple will learn prudence; rebuke a discerning man, and he will gain knowledge.
19:26 He who robs his father and drives out his mother is a son who brings shame and disgrace.
19:27 Stop listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.
19:28 A corrupt witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked gulps down evil.
19:29 Penalties are prepared for mockers, and beatings for the backs of fools.
Colossians 2.
2:1 I want you to know how much I am struggling for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally.
2:2 My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,
2:3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
2:4 I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.
2:5 For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
2:6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,
2:7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
2:9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,
2:10 and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.
2:11 In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ,
2:12 having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
2:13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,
2:14 having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross.
2:15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
2:16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.
2:17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
2:18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions.
2:19 He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
2:20 Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules:
2:21 "Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"?
2:22 These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings.
2:23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.
