Numbers 10.
10:1 The LORD said to Moses:
10:2 "Make two trumpets of hammered silver, and use them for calling the community together and for having the camps set out.
10:3 When both are sounded, the whole community is to assemble before you at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
10:4 If only one is sounded, the leaders--the heads of the clans of Israel--are to assemble before you.
10:5 When a trumpet blast is sounded, the tribes camping on the east are to set out.
10:6 At the sounding of a second blast, the camps on the south are to set out. The blast will be the signal for setting out.
10:7 To gather the assembly, blow the trumpets, but not with the same signal.
10:8 "The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to blow the trumpets. This is to be a lasting ordinance for you and the generations to come.
10:9 When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the LORD your God and rescued from your enemies.
10:10 Also at your times of rejoicing--your appointed feasts and New Moon festivals--you are to sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, and they will be a memorial for you before your God. I am the LORD your God."
10:11 On the twentieth day of the second month of the second year, the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle of the Testimony.
10:12 Then the Israelites set out from the Desert of Sinai and traveled from place to place until the cloud came to rest in the Desert of Paran.
10:13 They set out, this first time, at the LORD'S command through Moses.
10:14 The divisions of the camp of Judah went first, under their standard. Nahshon son of Amminadab was in command.
10:15 Nethanel son of Zuar was over the division of the tribe of Issachar,
10:16 and Eliab son of Helon was over the division of the tribe of Zebulun.
10:17 Then the tabernacle was taken down, and the Gershonites and Merarites, who carried it, set out.
10:18 The divisions of the camp of Reuben went next, under their standard. Elizur son of Shedeur was in command.
10:19 Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai was over the division of the tribe of Simeon,
10:20 and Eliasaph son of Deuel was over the division of the tribe of Gad.
10:21 Then the Kohathites set out, carrying the holy things. The tabernacle was to be set up before they arrived.
10:22 The divisions of the camp of Ephraim went next, under their standard. Elishama son of Ammihud was in command.
10:23 Gamaliel son of Pedahzur was over the division of the tribe of Manasseh,
10:24 and Abidan son of Gideoni was over the division of the tribe of Benjamin.
10:25 Finally, as the rear guard for all the units, the divisions of the camp of Dan set out, under their standard. Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai was in command.
10:26 Pagiel son of Ocran was over the division of the tribe of Asher,
10:27 and Ahira son of Enan was over the division of the tribe of Naphtali.
10:28 This was the order of march for the Israelite divisions as they set out.
10:29 Now Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, "We are setting out for the place about which the LORD said, 'I will give it to you.' Come with us and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things to Israel."
10:30 He answered, "No, I will not go; I am going back to my own land and my own people."
10:31 But Moses said, "Please do not leave us. You know where we should camp in the desert, and you can be our eyes.
10:32 If you come with us, we will share with you whatever good things the LORD gives us."
10:33 So they set out from the mountain of the LORD and traveled for three days. The ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them during those three days to find them a place to rest.
10:34 The cloud of the LORD was over them by day when they set out from the camp.
10:35 Whenever the ark set out, Moses said, "Rise up, O LORD! May your enemies be scattered; may your foes flee before you."
10:36 Whenever it came to rest, he said, "Return, O LORD, to the countless thousands of Israel."
Psalms 46.
46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
46:2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
46:3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Selah
46:4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
46:5 God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.
46:6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
46:7 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
46:8 Come and see the works of the LORD, the desolations he has brought on the earth.
46:9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire.
46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
46:11 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
Psalms 47.
47:1 Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.
47:2 How awesome is the LORD Most High, the great King over all the earth!
47:3 He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet.
47:4 He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved. Selah
47:5 God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the LORD amid the sounding of trumpets.
47:6 Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.
47:7 For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.
47:8 God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.
47:9 The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.
Song of Solomon 8.
8:1 If only you were to me like a brother, who was nursed at my mother's breasts! Then, if I found you outside, I would kiss you, and no one would despise me.
8:2 I would lead you and bring you to my mother's house--she who has taught me. I would give you spiced wine to drink, the nectar of my pomegranates.
8:3 His left arm is under my head and his right arm embraces me.
8:4 Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.
8:5 Who is this coming up from the desert leaning on her lover? Under the apple tree I roused you; there your mother conceived you, there she who was in labor gave you birth.
8:6 Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.
8:7 Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned.
8:8 We have a young sister, and her breasts are not yet grown. What shall we do for our sister for the day she is spoken for?
8:9 If she is a wall, we will build towers of silver on her. If she is a door, we will enclose her with panels of cedar.
8:10 I am a wall, and my breasts are like towers. Thus I have become in his eyes like one bringing contentment.
8:11 Solomon had a vineyard in Baal Hamon; he let out his vineyard to tenants. Each was to bring for its fruit a thousand shekels of silver.
8:12 But my own vineyard is mine to give; the thousand shekels are for you, O Solomon, and two hundred are for those who tend its fruit.
8:13 You who dwell in the gardens with friends in attendance, let me hear your voice!
Hebrews 8.
8:1 The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,
8:2 and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man.
8:3 Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer.
8:4 If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already men who offer the gifts prescribed by the law.
8:5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain."
8:6 But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises.
8:7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.
8:8 But God found fault with the people and said: "The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
8:9 It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord.
8:10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
8:11 No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
8:12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."
8:13 By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.
