신명기 4 장.

신4:1 이스라엘아 이제 내가 너희에게 가르치는 규례와 법도를 듣고 준행하라 그리하면 너희가 살 것이요 너희 조상의 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 주시는 땅에 들어가서 그것을 얻게 되리라

신4:2 내가 너희에게 명령하는 말을 너희는 가감하지 말고 내가 너희에게 내리는 너희 하나님 여호와의 명령을 지키라

신4:3 여호와께서 바알브올의 일로 말미암아 행하신 바를 너희가 눈으로 보았거니와 바알브올을 따른 모든 사람을 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 너희 가운데에서 멸망시키셨으되

신4:4 오직 너희의 하나님 여호와를 붙어 떠나지 않은 너희는 오늘까지 다 생존하였느니라

신4:5 내가 나의 하나님 여호와께서 명령하신 대로 규례와 법도를 너희에게 가르쳤나니 이는 너희가 들어가서 기업으로 차지할 땅에서 그대로 행하게 하려 함인즉

신4:6 너희는 지켜 행하라 이것이 여러 민족 앞에서 너희의 지혜요 너희의 지식이라 그들이 이 모든 규례를 듣고 이르기를 이 큰 나라 사람은 과연 지혜와 지식이 있는 백성이로다 하리라

신4:7 우리 하나님 여호와께서 우리가 그에게 기도할 때마다 우리에게 가까이 하심과 같이 그 신이 가까이 함을 얻은 큰 나라가 어디 있느냐

신4:8 오늘 내가 너희에게 선포하는 이 율법과 같이 그 규례와 법도가 공의로운 큰 나라가 어디 있느냐

신4:9 오직 너는 스스로 삼가며 네 마음을 힘써 지키라 그리하여 네가 눈으로 본 그 일을 잊어버리지 말라 네가 생존하는 날 동안에 그 일들이 네 마음에서 떠나지 않도록 조심하라 너는 그 일들을 네 아들들과 네 손자들에게 알게 하라

신4:10 네가 호렙 산에서 네 하나님 여호와 앞에 섰던 날에 여호와께서 내게 이르시기를 나에게 백성을 모으라 내가 그들에게 내 말을 들려주어 그들이 세상에 사는 날 동안 나를 경외함을 배우게 하며 그 자녀에게 가르치게 하라 하시매

신4:11 너희가 가까이 나아와서 산 아래에 서니 그 산에 불이 붙어 불길이 충천하고 어둠과 구름과 흑암이 덮였는데

신4:12 여호와께서 불길 중에서 너희에게 말씀하시되 음성뿐이므로 너희가 그 말소리만 듣고 형상은 보지 못하였느니라

신4:13 여호와께서 그의 언약을 너희에게 반포하시고 너희에게 지키라 명령하셨으니 곧 십계명이며 두 돌판에 친히 쓰신 것이라

신4:14 그 때에 여호와께서 내게 명령 하사 너희에게 규례와 법도를 교훈하게 하셨나니 이는 너희가 거기로 건너가 받을 땅에서 행하게 하려 하심이니라

신4:15 여호와께서 호렙 산 불길 중에서 너희에게 말씀하시던 날에 너희가 어떤 형상도 보지 못하였은즉 너희는 깊이 삼가라

신4:16 그리하여 스스로 부패하여 자기를 위해 어떤 형상대로든지 우상을 새겨 만들지 말라 남자의 형상이든지, 여자의 형상이든지,

신4:17 땅 위에 있는 어떤 짐승의 형상이든지, 하늘을 나는 날개 가진 어떤 새의 형상이든지,

신4:18 땅 위에 기는 어떤 곤충의 형상이든지, 땅 아래 물 속에 있는 어떤 어족의 형상이든지 만들지 말라

신4:19 또 그리하여 네가 하늘을 향하여 눈을 들어 해와 달과 별들 하늘 위의 모든 천체 곧 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 천하 만민을 위하여 배정하신 것을 보고 미혹하여 그것에 경배하며 섬기지 말라

신4:20 여호와께서 너희를 택하시고 너희를 쇠 풀무불 곧 애굽에서 인도하여 내사 자기 기업의 백성을 삼으신 것이 오늘과 같아도

신4:21 여호와께서 너희로 말미암아 내게 진노하사 내게 요단을 건너지 못하며 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 기업으로 주신 그 아름다운 땅에 들어가지 못하게 하리라고 맹세하셨은즉

신4:22 나는 이 땅에서 죽고 요단을 건너지 못하려니와 너희는 건너가서 그 아름다운 땅을 얻으리니

신4:23 너희는 스스로 삼가 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 너희와 세우신 언약을 잊지 말고 네 하나님 여호와께서 금하신 어떤 형상의 우상도 조각하지 말라

신4:24 네 하나님 여호와는 소멸하는 불이시요 질투하시는 하나님이시니라

신4:25 네가 그 땅에서 아들을 낳고 손자를 얻으며 오래 살 때에 만일 스스로 부패하여 무슨 형상의 우상이든지 조각하여 네 하나님 여호와 앞에 악을 행함으로 그의 노를 일으키면

신4:26 내가 오늘 천지를 불러 증거를 삼노니 너희가 요단을 건너가서 얻는 땅에서 속히 망할 것이라 너희가 거기서 너희의 날이 길지 못하고 전멸될 것이니라

신4:27 여호와께서 너희를 여러 민족 중에 흩으실 것이요 여호와께서 너희를 쫓아 보내실 그 여러 민족 중에 너희의 남은 수가 많지 못할 것이며

신4:28 너희는 거기서 사람의 손으로 만든 바 보지도 못하며 듣지도 못하며 먹지도 못하며 냄새도 맡지 못하는 목석의 신들을 섬기리라

신4:29 그러나 네가 거기서 네 하나님 여호와를 찾게 되리니 만일 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 그를 찾으면 만나리라

신4:30 이 모든 일이 네게 임하여 환난을 당하다가 끝날에 네가 네 하나님 여호와께로 돌아와서 그의 말씀을 청종하리니

신4:31 네 하나님 여호와는 자비하신 하나님이심이라 그가 너를 버리지 아니하시며 너를 멸하지 아니하시며 네 조상들에게 맹세하신 언약을 잊지 아니하시리라

신4:32 네가 있기 전 하나님이 사람을 세상에 창조하신 날부터 지금까지 지나간 날을 상고하여 보라 하늘 이 끝에서 저 끝까지 이런 큰 일이 있었느냐 이런 일을 들은 적이 있었느냐

신4:33 어떤 국민이 불 가운데에서 말씀하시는 하나님의 음성을 너처럼 듣고 생존하였느냐

신4:34 어떤 신이 와서 시험과 이적과 기사와 전쟁과 강한 손과 편 팔과 크게 두려운 일로 한 민족을 다른 민족에게서 인도하여 낸 일이 있느냐 이는 다 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 애굽에서 너희를 위하여 너희의 목전에서 행하신 일이라

신4:35 이것을 네게 나타내심은 여호와는 하나님이시요 그 외에는 다른 신이 없음을 네게 알게 하려 하심이니라

신4:36 여호와께서 너를 교훈하시려고 하늘에서부터 그의 음성을 네게 듣게 하시며 땅에서는 그의 큰 불을 네게 보이시고 네가 불 가운데서 나오는 그의 말씀을 듣게 하셨느니라

신4:37 여호와께서 네 조상들을 사랑하신 고로 그 후손인 너를 택하시고 큰 권능으로 친히 인도하여 애굽에서 나오게 하시며

신4:38 너보다 강대한 여러 민족을 네 앞에서 쫓아내고 너를 그들의 땅으로 인도하여 들여서 그것을 네게 기업으로 주려 하심이 오늘과 같으니라

신4:39 그런즉 너는 오늘 위로 하늘에나 아래로 땅에 오직 여호와는 하나님이시요 다른 신이 없는 줄을 알아 명심하고

신4:40 오늘 내가 네게 명령하는 여호와의 규례와 명령을 지키라 너와 네 후손이 복을 받아 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주시는 땅에서 한 없이 오래 살리라

신4:41 그 때에 모세가 요단 이쪽 해 돋는 쪽에서 세 성읍을 구별하였으니

신4:42 이는 과거에 원한이 없이 부지중에 살인한 자가 그 곳으로 도피하게 하기 위함이며 그 중 한 성읍으로 도피한 자가 그의 생명을 보전하게 하기 위함이라

신4:43 하나는 광야 평원에 있는 베셀이라 르우벤 지파를 위한 것이요 하나는 길르앗 라못이라 갓 지파를 위한 것이요 하나는 바산 골란이라 므낫세 지파를 위한 것이었더라

신4:44 모세가 이스라엘 자손에게 선포한 율법은 이러하니라

신4:45 이스라엘 자손이 애굽에서 나온 후에 모세가 증언과 규례와 법도를 선포하였으니

신4:46 요단 동쪽 벳브올 맞은편 골짜기에서 그리하였더라 이 땅은 헤스본에 사는 아모리 족속의 왕 시혼에게 속하였더니 모세와 이스라엘 자손이 애굽에서 나온 후에 그를 쳐서 멸하고

신4:47 그 땅을 기업으로 얻었고 또 바산 왕 옥의 땅을 얻었으니 그 두 사람은 아모리 족속의 왕으로서 요단 이쪽 해 돋는 쪽에 살았으며

신4:48 그 얻은 땅은 아르논 골짜기 가장자리의 아로엘에서부터 시온 산 곧 헤르몬 산까지요

신4:49 요단 이쪽 곧 그 동쪽 온 아라바니 비스가 기슭 아래 아라바의 바다까지이니라

시편 86 장.

시86:1 여호와여 나는 가난하고 궁핍하오니 주의 귀를 기울여 내게 응답하소서

시86:2 나는 경건하오니 내 영혼을 보존하소서 내 주 하나님이여 주를 의지하는 종을 구원하소서

시86:3 주여 내게 은혜를 베푸소서 내가 종일 주께 부르짖나이다

시86:4 주여 내 영혼이 주를 우러러보오니 주여 내 영혼을 기쁘게 하소서

시86:5 주는 선하사 사죄하기를 즐거워하시며 주께 부르짖는 자에게 인자함이 후하심이니이다

시86:6 여호와여 나의 기도에 귀를 기울이시고 내가 간구하는 소리를 들으소서

시86:7 나의 환난 날에 내가 주께 부르짖으리니 주께서 내게 응답하시리이다

시86:8 주여 신들 중에 주와 같은 자 없사오며 주의 행하심과 같은 일도 없나이다

시86:9 주여 주께서 지으신 모든 민족이 와서 주의 앞에 경배하며 주의 이름에 영광을 돌리리이다

시86:10 무릇 주는 위대하사 기이한 일들을 행하시오니 주만이 하나님이시니이다

시86:11 여호와여 주의 도를 내게 가르치소서 내가 주의 진리에 행하오리니 일심으로 주의 이름을 경외하게 하소서

시86:12 주 나의 하나님이여 내가 전심으로 주를 찬송하고 영원토록 주의 이름에 영광을 돌리오리니

시86:13 이는 내게 향하신 주의 인자하심이 크사 내 영혼을 깊은 스올에서 건지셨음이니이다

시86:14 하나님이여 교만한 자들이 일어나 나를 치고 포악한 자의 무리가 내 영혼을 찾았사오며 자기 앞에 주를 두지 아니하였나이다

시86:15 그러나 주여 주는 긍휼히 여기시며 은혜를 베푸시며 노하기를 더디하시며 인자와 진실이 풍성하신 하나님이시오니

시86:16 내게로 돌이키사 내게 은혜를 베푸소서 주의 종에게 힘을 주시고 주의 여종의 아들을 구원하소서

시86:17 은총의 표적을 내게 보이소서 그러면 나를 미워하는 그들이 보고 부끄러워하오리니 여호와여 주는 나를 돕고 위로하시는 이시니이다

시편 87 장.

시87:1 그의 터전이 성산에 있음이여

시87:2 여호와께서 야곱의 모든 거처보다 시온의 문들을 사랑하시는도다

시87:3 하나님의 성이여 너를 가리켜 영광스럽다 말하는도다 (셀라)

시87:4 나는 라합과 바벨론이 나를 아는 자 중에 있다 말하리라 보라 블레셋과 두로와 구스여 이것들도 거기서 났다 하리로다

시87:5 시온에 대하여 말하기를 이 사람, 저 사람이 거기서 났다고 말하리니 지존자가 친히 시온을 세우리라 하는도다

시87:6 여호와께서 민족들을 등록하실 때에는 그 수를 세시며 이 사람이 거기서 났다 하시리로다 (셀라)

시87:7 노래하는 자와 뛰어 노는 자들이 말하기를 나의 모든 근원이 네게 있다 하리로다

이사야 32 장.

사32:1 보라 장차 한 왕이 공의로 통치할 것이요 방백들이 정의로 다스릴 것이며

사32:2 또 그 사람은 광풍을 피하는 곳, 폭우를 가리는 곳 같을 것이며 마른 땅에 냇물 같을 것이며 곤비한 땅에 큰 바위 그늘 같으리니

사32:3 보는 자의 눈이 감기지 아니할 것이요 듣는 자가 귀를 기울일 것이며

사32:4 조급한 자의 마음이 지식을 깨닫고 어눌한 자의 혀가 민첩하여 말을 분명히 할 것이라

사32:5 어리석은 자를 다시 존귀하다 부르지 아니하겠고 우둔한 자를 다시 존귀한 자라 말하지 아니하리니

사32:6 이는 어리석은 자는 어리석은 것을 말하며 그 마음에 불의를 품어 간사를 행하며 패역한 말로 여호와를 거스르며 주린 자의 심령을 비게 하며 목마른 자에게서 마실 것을 없어지게 함이며

사32:7 악한 자는 그 그릇이 악하여 악한 계획을 세워 거짓말로 가련한 자를 멸하며 가난한 자가 말을 바르게 할지라도 그리함이거니와

사32:8 존귀한 자는 존귀한 일을 계획하나니 그는 항상 존귀한 일에 서리라

사32:9 너희 안일한 여인들아 일어나 내 목소리를 들을지어다 너희 염려 없는 딸들아 내 말에 귀를 기울일지어다

사32:10 너희 염려 없는 여자들아 일 년 남짓이 지나면 너희가 당황하리니 포도 수확이 없으며 열매 거두는 일이 이르지 않을 것임이라

사32:11 너희 안일한 여자들아 떨지어다 너희 염려 없는 자들아 당황하여 할지어다 옷을 벗어 몸을 드러내고 베로 허리를 동일지어다

사32:12 좋은 밭으로 인하여 열매 많은 포도나무로 인하여 가슴을 치게 될 것이니라

사32:13 내 백성의 땅에 가시와 찔레가 나며 희락의 성읍, 기뻐하는 모든 집에 나리니

사32:14 대저 궁전이 폐한 바 되며 인구 많던 성읍이 적막하며 오벨과 망대가 영원히 굴혈이 되며 들나귀가 즐기는 곳과 양 떼의 초장이 되려니와

사32:15 마침내 위에서부터 영을 우리에게 부어 주시리니 광야가 아름다운 밭이 되며 아름다운 밭을 숲으로 여기게 되리라

사32:16 그 때에 정의가 광야에 거하며 공의가 아름다운 밭에 거하리니

사32:17 공의의 열매는 화평이요 공의의 결과는 영원한 평안과 안전이라

사32:18 내 백성이 화평한 집과 안전한 거처와 종용히 쉬는 곳에 있으려니와

사32:19 그 숲은 우박에 상하고 성읍은 파괴되리라

사32:20 모든 물가에 씨를 뿌리고 소와 나귀를 그리로 모는 너희는 복이 있느라

요한계시록 2 장.

계2:1 에베소 교회의 사자에게 편지하라 오른손에 있는 일곱 별을 붙잡고 일곱 금 촛대 사이를 거니시는 이가 이르시되

계2:2 내가 네 행위와 수고와 네 인내를 알고 또 악한 자들을 용납하지 아니한 것과 자칭 사도라 하되 아닌 자들을 시험하여 그의 거짓된 것을 네가 드러낸 것과

계2:3 또 네가 참고 내 이름을 위하여 견디고 게으르지 아니한 것을 아노라

계2:4 그러나 너를 책망할 것이 있나니 너의 처음 사랑을 버렸느니라

계2:5 그러므로 어디서 떨어진 것을 생각하고 회개하여 처음 행위를 가지라 만일 그리하지 아니하고 회개하지 아니하면 내가 네게 가서 네 촛대를 그 자리에서 옮기리라

계2:6 오직 네게 이것이 있으니 네가 니골라 당의 행위를 미워하는도다 나도 이것을 미워하노라

계2:7 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을지어다 이기는 그에게는 내가 하나님의 낙원에 있는 생명나무의 열매를 주어 먹게 하리라

계2:8 서머나 교회의 사자에게 편지하라 처음이며 마지막이요 죽었다가 살아나신 이가 이르시되

계2:9 내가 네 환난과 궁핍을 알거니와 실상은 네가 부요한 자니라 자칭 유대인이라 하는 자들의 비방도 알거니와 실상은 유대인이 아니요 사탄의 회당이라

계2:10 너는 장차 받을 고난을 두려워하지 말라 볼지어다 마귀가 장차 너희 가운데에서 몇 사람을 옥에 던져 시험을 받게 하리니 너희가 십 일 동안 환난을 받으리라 네가 죽도록 충성하라 그리하면 내가 생명의 관을 네게 주리라

계2:11 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을지어다 이기는 자는 둘째 사망의 해를 받지 아니하리라

계2:12 버가모 교회의 사자에게 편지하라 좌우에 날선 검을 가지신 이가 이르시되

계2:13 네가 어디에 사는 것을 내가 아노니 거기는 사탄의 권좌가 있는 데라 네가 내 이름을 굳게 잡아서 내 충성된 증인 안디바가 너희 가운데 곧 사탄이 사는 곳에서 죽임을 당할 때에도 나를 믿는 믿음을 저버리지 아니하였도다

계2:14 그러나 네게 두어 가지 책망할 것이 있나니 거기 네게 발람의 교훈을 지키는 자들이 있도다 발람이 발락을 가르쳐 이스라엘 자손 앞에 걸림돌을 놓아 우상의 제물을 먹게 하였고 또 행음하게 하였느니라

계2:15 이와 같이 네게도 니골라 당의 교훈을 지키는 자들이 있도다

계2:16 그러므로 회개하라 그리하지 아니하면 내가 네게 속히 가서 내 입의 검으로 그들과 싸우리라

계2:17 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을지어다 이기는 그에게는 내가 감추었던 만나를 주고 또 흰 돌을 줄 터인데 그 돌 위에 새 이름을 기록한 것이 있나니 받는 자 밖에는 그 이름을 알 사람이 없느니라

계2:18 두아디라 교회의 사자에게 편지하라 그 눈이 불꽃같고 그 발이 빛난 주석과 같은 하나님의 아들이 이르시되

계2:19 내가 네 사업과 사랑과 믿음과 섬김과 인내를 아노니 네 나중 행위가 처음 것보다 많도다

계2:20 그러나 네게 책망할 일이 있노라 자칭 선지자라 하는 여자 이세벨을 네가 용납함이니 그가 내 종들을 가르쳐 꾀어 행음하게 하고 우상의 제물을 먹게 하는도다

계2:21 또 내가 그에게 회개할 기회를 주었으되 자기의 음행을 회개하고자 하지 아니하는도다

계2:22 볼지어다 내가 그를 침상에 던질 터이요 또 그와 더불어 간음하는 자들도 만일 그의 행위를 회개하지 아니하면 큰 환난 가운데에 던지고

계2:23 또 내가 사망으로 그의 자녀를 죽이리니 모든 교회가 나는 사람의 뜻과 마음을 살피는 자인 줄 알지라 내가 너희 각 사람의 행위대로 갚아 주리라

계2:24 두아디라에 남아 있어 이 교훈을 받지 아니하고 소위 사탄의 깊은 것을 알지 못하는 너희에게 말하노니 다른 짐으로 너희에게 지울 것은 없노라

계2:25 다만 너희에게 있는 것을 내가 올 때까지 굳게 잡으라

계2:26 이기는 자와 끝까지 내 일을 지키는 그에게 만국을 다스리는 권세를 주리니

계2:27 그가 철장을 가지고 그들을 다스려 질그릇 깨뜨리는 것과 같이 하리라 나도 내 아버지께 받은 것이 그러하니라

계2:28 내가 또 그에게 새벽 별을 주리라

계2:29 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을지어다

Deuteronomy 4.

4:1 Hear now, O Israel, the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

4:2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you.

4:3 You saw with your own eyes what the LORD did at Baal Peor. The LORD your God destroyed from among you everyone who followed the Baal of Peor,

4:4 but all of you who held fast to the LORD your God are still alive today.

4:5 See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the LORD my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it.

4:6 Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people."

4:7 What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?

4:8 And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today?

4:9 Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.

4:10 Remember the day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, when he said to me, "Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn to revere me as long as they live in the land and may teach them to their children."

4:11 You came near and stood at the foot of the mountain while it blazed with fire to the very heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness.

4:12 Then the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of words but saw no form; there was only a voice.

4:13 He declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets.

4:14 And the LORD directed me at that time to teach you the decrees and laws you are to follow in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.

4:15 You saw no form of any kind the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully,

4:16 so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman,

4:17 or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air,

4:18 or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below.

4:19 And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars--all the heavenly array--do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.

4:20 But as for you, the LORD took you and brought you out of the iron-smelting furnace, out of Egypt, to be the people of his inheritance, as you now are.

4:21 The LORD was angry with me because of you, and he solemnly swore that I would not cross the Jordan and enter the good land the LORD your God is giving you as your inheritance.

4:22 I will die in this land; I will not cross the Jordan; but you are about to cross over and take possession of that good land.

4:23 Be careful not to forget the covenant of the LORD your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the LORD your God has forbidden.

4:24 For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

4:25 After you have had children and grandchildren and have lived in the land a long time--if you then become corrupt and make any kind of idol, doing evil in the eyes of the LORD your God and provoking him to anger,

4:26 I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed.

4:27 The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the LORD will drive you.

4:28 There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.

4:29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.

4:30 When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the LORD your God and obey him.

4:31 For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath.

4:32 Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created man on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of?

4:33 Has any other people heard the voice of God speaking out of fire, as you have, and lived?

4:34 Has any god ever tried to take for himself one nation out of another nation, by testings, by miraculous signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, or by great and awesome deeds, like all the things the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?

4:35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God; besides him there is no other.

4:36 From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire.

4:37 Because he loved your forefathers and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength,

4:38 to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today.

4:39 Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.

4:40 Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD your God gives you for all time.

4:41 Then Moses set aside three cities east of the Jordan,

4:42 to which anyone who had killed a person could flee if he had unintentionally killed his neighbor without malice aforethought. He could flee into one of these cities and save his life.

4:43 The cities were these: Bezer in the desert plateau, for the Reubenites; Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.

4:44 This is the law Moses set before the Israelites.

4:45 These are the stipulations, decrees and laws Moses gave them when they came out of Egypt

4:46 and were in the valley near Beth Peor east of the Jordan, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon and was defeated by Moses and the Israelites as they came out of Egypt.

4:47 They took possession of his land and the land of Og king of Bashan, the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan.

4:48 This land extended from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge to Mount Siyon (that is, Hermon),

4:49 and included all the Arabah east of the Jordan, as far as the Sea of the Arabah, below the slopes of Pisgah.

Psalms 86.

86:1 Hear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.

86:2 Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.

86:3 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long.

86:4 Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

86:5 You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you.

86:6 Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.

86:7 In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.

86:8 Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.

86:9 All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.

86:10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.

86:11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.

86:12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.

86:13 For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.

86:14 The arrogant are attacking me, O God; a band of ruthless men seeks my life--men without regard for you.

86:15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

86:16 Turn to me and have mercy on me; grant your strength to your servant and save the son of your maidservant.

86:17 Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me.

Psalms 87.

87:1 He has set his foundation on the holy mountain;

87:2 the LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

87:3 Glorious things are said of you, O city of God: Selah

87:4 "I will record Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge me--Philistia too, and Tyre, along with Cush--and will say, 'This one was born in Zion.'"

87:5 Indeed, of Zion it will be said, "This one and that one were born in her, and the Most High himself will establish her."

87:6 The LORD will write in the register of the peoples: "This one was born in Zion." Selah

87:7 As they make music they will sing, "All my fountains are in you."

Isaiah 32.

32:1 See, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule with justice.

32:2 Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

32:3 Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen.

32:4 The mind of the rash will know and understand, and the stammering tongue will be fluent and clear.

32:5 No longer will the fool be called noble nor the scoundrel be highly respected.

32:6 For the fool speaks folly, his mind is busy with evil: He practices ungodliness and spreads error concerning the LORD; the hungry he leaves empty and from the thirsty he withholds water.

32:7 The scoundrel's methods are wicked, he makes up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just.

32:8 But the noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands.

32:9 You women who are so complacent, rise up and listen to me; you daughters who feel secure, hear what I have to say!

32:10 In little more than a year you who feel secure will tremble; the grape harvest will fail, and the harvest of fruit will not come.

32:11 Tremble, you complacent women; shudder, you daughters who feel secure! Strip off your clothes, put sackcloth around your waists.

32:12 Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vines

32:13 and for the land of my people, a land overgrown with thorns and briers--yes, mourn for all houses of merriment and for this city of revelry.

32:14 The fortress will be abandoned, the noisy city deserted; citadel and watchtower will become a wasteland forever, the delight of donkeys, a pasture for flocks,

32:15 till the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest.

32:16 Justice will dwell in the desert and righteousness live in the fertile field.

32:17 The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.

32:18 My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.

32:19 Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely,

32:20 how blessed you will be, sowing your seed by every stream, and letting your cattle and donkeys range free.

Revelation 2.

2:1 "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands:

2:2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.

2:3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

2:4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.

2:5 Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

2:6 But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

2:8 "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again.

2:9 I know your afflictions and your poverty--yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

2:10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.

2:11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.

2:12 "To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword.

2:13 I know where you live--where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city--where Satan lives.

2:14 Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: You have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality.

2:15 Likewise you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

2:16 Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

2:17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.

2:18 "To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.

2:19 I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.

2:20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.

2:21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.

2:22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.

2:23 I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

2:24 Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets (I will not impose any other burden on you):

2:25 Only hold on to what you have until I come.

2:26 To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations--

2:27 'He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces like pottery'--just as I have received authority from my Father.

2:28 I will also give him the morning star.

2:29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
