신명기 5 장.

신5:1 모세가 온 이스라엘을 불러 그들에게 이르되 이스라엘아 오늘 내가 너희의 귀에 말하는 규례와 법도를 듣고 그것을 배우며 지켜 행하라

신5:2 우리 하나님 여호와께서 호렙 산에서 우리와 언약을 세우셨나니

신5:3 이 언약은 여호와께서 우리 조상들과 세우신 것이 아니요 오늘 여기 살아 있는 우리 곧 우리와 세우신 것이라

신5:4 여호와께서 산 위 불 가운데에서 너희와 대면하여 말씀하시매

신5:5 그 때에 너희가 불을 두려워하여 산에 오르지 못하므로 내가 여호와와 너희 중간에 서서 여호와의 말씀을 너희에게 전하였노라 여호와께서 이르시되

신5:6 나는 너를 애굽 땅, 종 되었던 집에서 인도하여 낸 네 하나님 여호와라

신5:7 나 외에는 다른 신들을 네게 두지 말지니라

신5:8 너는 자기를 위하여 새긴 우상을 만들지 말고 위로 하늘에 있는 것이나 아래로 땅에 있는 것이나 땅밑 물 속에 있는 것의 어떤 형상도 만들지 말며

신5:9 그것들에게 절하지 말며 그것들을 섬기지 말라 나 네 하나님 여호와는 질투하는 하나님인즉 나를 미워하는 자의 죄를 갚되 아버지로부터 아들에게로 삼사 대까지 이르게 하거니와

신5:10 나를 사랑하고 내 계명을 지키는 자에게는 천 대까지 은혜를 베푸느니라

신5:11 너는 네 하나님 여호와의 이름을 망령되이 일컫지 말라 나 여호와는 내 이름을 망령되이 일컫는 자를 죄 없는 줄로 인정하지 아니하리라

신5:12 네 하나님 여호와가 네게 명령한 대로 안식일을 지켜 거룩하게 하라

신5:13 엿새 동안은 힘써 네 모든 일을 행할 것이나

신5:14 일곱째 날은 네 하나님 여호와 안식일인즉 너나 네 아들이나 네 딸이나 네 남종이나 네 여종이나 네 소나 네 나귀나 네 모든 가축이나 네 문 안에 유하는 객이라도 아무 일도 하지 못하게 하고 네 남종이나 네 여종에게 너 같이 안식하게 할지니라

신5:15 너는 기억하라 네가 애굽 땅에서 종이 되었더니 네 하나님 여호와가 강한 손과 편 팔로 거기서 너를 인도하여 내었나니 그러므로 네 하나님 여호와가 네게 명령하여 안식일을 지키라 하느니라

신5:16 너는 네 하나님 여호와께서 명령한 대로 네 부모를 공경하라 그리하면 네 하나님 여호와가 네게 준 땅에서 네 생명이 길고 복을 누리리라

신5:17 살인하지 말지니라

신5:18 간음하지 말지니라

신5:19 도둑질 하지 말지니라

신5:20 네 이웃에 대하여 거짓 증거하지 말지니라

신5:21 네 이웃의 아내를 탐내지 말지니라 네 이웃의 집이나 그의 밭이나 그의 남종이나 그의 여종이나 그의 소나 그의 나귀나 네 이웃의 모든 소유를 탐내지 말지니라

신5:22 여호와께서 이 모든 말씀을 산 위 불 가운데, 구름 가운데, 흑암 가운데에서 큰 음성으로 너희 총회에 이르신 후에 더 말씀하지 아니하시고 그것을 두 돌판에 써서 내게 주셨느니라

신5:23 산이 불에 타며 캄캄한 가운데에서 나오는 그 소리를 너희가 듣고 너희 지파의 수령과 장로들이 내게 나아와

신5:24 말하되 우리 하나님 여호와께서 그의 영광과 위엄을 우리에게 보이시매 불 가운데에서 나오는 음성을 우리가 들었고 하나님이 사람과 말씀하시되 그 사람이 생존하는 것을 오늘 우리가 보았나이다

신5:25 이제 우리가 죽을 까닭이 무엇이니이까 이 큰 불이 우리를 삼 킬 것이요 만일 우리가 우리 하나님 여호와의 음성을 다시 들으면 죽을 것이라

신5:26 육신을 가진 자로서 우리처럼 살아 계시는 하나님의 음성이 불 가운데에서 발함을 듣고 생존한 자가 누구니이까

신5:27 당신은 가까이 나아가서 우리 하나님 여호와께서 하시는 말씀을 다 듣고 우리 하나님 여호와께서 당신에게 이르시는 것을 다 우리에게 전하소서 우리가 듣고 행하겠나이다 하였느니라

신5:28 여호와께서 너희가 내게 말할 때에 너희가 말하는 소리를 들으신지라 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 이 백성이 네게 말하는 그 말소리를 내가 들은즉 그 말이 다 옳도다

신5:29 다만 그들이 항상 이같은 마음을 품어 나를 경외하며 내 모든 명령을 지켜서 그들과 그 자손이 영원히 복 받기를 원하노라

신5:30 가서 그들에게 각기 장막으로 돌아가라 이르고

신5:31 너는 여기 내 곁에 서 있으라 내가 모든 명령과 규례와 법도를 네게 이르리니 너는 그것을 그들에게 가르쳐서 내가 그들에게 기업으로 주는 땅에서 그들에게 이것을 행하게 하라 하셨나니

신5:32 그런즉 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 명령하신 대로 너희는 삼가 행하여 좌로나 우로나 치우치지 말고

신5:33 너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 명령하신 모든 도를 행하라 그리하면 너희가 살 것이요 복이 너희에게 있을 것이며 너희가 차지한 땅에서 너희의 날이 길리라

시편 88 장.

시88:1 여호와 내 구원의 하나님이여 내가 주야로 주 앞에서 부르짖었사오니

시88:2 나의 기도가 주 앞에 이르게 하시며 나의 부르짖음에 주의 귀를 기울여 주소서

시88:3 무릇 나의 영혼에는 재난이 가득하며 나의 생명은 스올에 가까웠사오니

시88:4 나는 무덤에 내려가는 자 같이 인정되고 힘없는 용사와 같으며

시88:5 죽은 자 중에 던져진 바 되었으며 죽임을 당하여 무덤에 누운 자 같으니이다 주께서 그들을 다시 기억하지 아니하시니 그들은 주의 손에서 끊어진 자니이다

시88:6 주께서 나를 깊은 웅덩이와 어둡고 음침한 곳에 두셨사오며

시88:7 주의 노가 나를 심히 누르시고 주의 모든 파도가 나를 괴롭게 하셨나이다 (셀라)

시88:8 주께서 내가 아는 자를 내게서 멀리 떠나게 하시고 나를 그들에게 가증한 것이 되게 하셨사오니 나는 갇혀서 나갈 수 없게 되었나이다

시88:9 곤란으로 말미암아 내 눈이 쇠하였나이다 여호와여 내가 매일 주를 부르며 주를 향하여 나의 두 손을 들었나이다

시88:10 주께서 죽은 자에게 기이한 일을 보이시겠나이까 유령들이 일어나 주를 찬송하리이까 (셀라)

시88:11 주의 인자하심을 무덤에서, 주의 성실하심을 멸망 중에서 선포할 수 있으리이까

시88:12 흑암 중에서 주의 기적과 잊음의 땅에서 주의 공의를 알 수 있으리이까

시88:13 여호와여 오직 내가 주께 부르짖었사오니 아침에 나의 기도가 주의 앞에 이르리이다

시88:14 여호와여 어찌하여 나의 영혼을 버리시며 어찌하여 주의 얼굴을 내게서 숨기시나이까

시88:15 내가 어릴 적부터 고난을 당하여 죽게 되었사오며 주께서 두렵게 하실 때에 당황하였나이다

시88:16 주의 진노가 내게 넘치고 주의 두려움이 나를 끊었나이다

시88:17 이런 일이 물 같이 종일 나를 에우며 함께 나를 둘러쌌나이다

시88:18 주는 내게서 사랑하는 자와 친구를 멀리 떠나게 하시며 내가 아는 자를 흑암에 두셨나이다

이사야 33 장.

사33:1 너 학대를 당하지 아니하고도 학대하며 속이고도 속임을 당하지 아니하는 자여 화 있을진저 네가 학대하기를 그치면 네가 학대를 당할 것이며 네가 속이기를 그치면 사람이 너를 속이리라

사33:2 여호와여 우리에게 은혜를 베푸소서 우리가 주를 앙망하오니 주는 아침마다 우리의 팔이 되시며 환난 때에 우리의 구원이 되소서

사33:3 요란한 소리로 말미암아 민족들이 도망하며 주께서 일어나심으로 말미암아 나라들이 흩어졌나이다

사33:4 황충의 떼 같이 사람이 너희의 노략물을 모을 것이며 메뚜기가 뛰어오름 같이 그들이 그 위로 뛰어오르리라

사33:5 여호와께서는 지극히 존귀하시니 그는 높은 곳에 거하심이요 정의와 공의를 시온에 충만하게 하심이라

사33:6 네 시대에 평안함이 있으며 구원과 지혜와 지식이 풍성할 것이니 여호와를 경외함이 네 보배니라

사33:7 보라 그들의 용사가 밖에서부터 부르짖으며 평화의 사신들이 슬피 곡하며

사33:8 대로가 황폐하여 행인이 끊어지며 대적이 조약을 파하고 성읍들을 멸시하며 사람을 생각지 아니하며

사33:9 땅이 슬퍼하고 쇠잔하며 레바논은 부끄러워 하고 마르며 사론은 사막과 같고 바산과 갈멜은 나뭇잎을 떨어뜨리는도다

사33:10 여호와께서 이르시되 내가 이제 일어나며 내가 이제 나를 높이며 내가 이제 지극히 높아지리라

사33:11 너희가 겨를 잉태하고 짚을 해산할 것이며 너희의 호흡은 불이 되어 너희를 삼킬 것이며

사33:12 민족들은 불에 굽는 횟돌 같겠고 잘라서 불에 사르는 가시나무 같으리로다

사33:13 너희 먼 데 있는 자들아 내가 행한 것을 들으라 너희 가까이 있는 자들아 나의 권능을 알라

사33:14 시온의 죄인들이 두려워하며 경건하지 아니한 자들이 떨며 이르기를 우리 중에 누가 삼키는 불과 함께 거하겠으며 우리 중에 누가 영원히 타는 것과 함께 거하리요 하도다

사33:15 오직 의롭게 행하는 자, 정직히 말하는자, 토색한 재물을 가증히 여기는 자, 손을 흔들어 뇌물을 받지 아니하는 자, 귀를 막아 피 흘리려는 꾀를 듣지 아니하는 자, 눈을 감아 악을 보지 아니하는 자

사33:16 그는 높은 곳에 거하리니 견고한 바위가 그의 요새가 되며 그의 양식은 공급되고 그의 물은 끊어지지 아니하리라

사33:17 네 눈은 그의 아름다운 가운데에서 보며 광활한 땅을 눈으로 보겠고

사33:18 네 마음은 두려워하던 것을 생각해 내리라 계산하던 자가 어디 있느냐 공세를 계량하던 자가 어디 있느냐 망대를 계수하던 자가 어디 있느냐

사33:19 네가 강포한 백성을 보지 아니하리라 그 백성은 방언이 어려워 네가 알아듣지 못하며 말이 이상하여 네가 깨닫지 못하는 자니라

사33:20 우리의 절기의 시온 성을 보라 네 눈이 안정된 처소인 예루살렘을 보리니 그것은 옮겨지지 아니할 장막이라 그 말뚝이 영원히 뽑히지 아니할 것이요 그 줄이 하나도 끊어지지 아니할 것이며

사33:21 여호와께서는 거기서 위엄 중에 우리와 함께 계시리니 그 곳에는 여러 강과 큰 호수가 있으나 노젓는 배나 큰 배가 통행하지 못하리라

사33:22 대저 여호와는 우리 재판장이시요 여호와는 우리에게 율법을 세우신 이요 여호와는 우리의 왕이시니 그가 우리를 구원하실 것임이라

사33:23 네 돛대 줄이 풀렸으니 돛대 밑을 튼튼히 하지 못하였고 돛을 달지 못하였느라 때가 되면 많은 재물을 탈취하여 나누리니 저는 자도 그 재물을 취할 것이며

사33:24 그 거주민은 내가 병들었노라 하지 아니할 것이라 거기에 사는 백성이 사죄함을 받으리라

요한계시록 3 장.

계3:1 사데 교회의 사자에게 편지하라 하나님의 일곱 영과 일곱 별을 가지신 이가 이르시되 내가 네 행위를 아노니 네가 살았다 하는 이름은 가졌으나 죽은 자로다

계3:2 너는 일깨어 그 남은 바 죽게 된 것을 굳건하게 하라 내 하나님 앞에 온전한 것을 찾지 못하였노니

계3:3 그러므로 네가 어떻게 받았으며 어떻게 들었는지 생각하고 지켜 회개하라 만일 일깨지 아니하면 내가 도둑 같이 이르리니 어느 때에 네게 이를는지 네가 알지 못하리라

계3:4 그러나 사데에 그 옷을 더럽히지 아니한 자 몇 명이 네게 있어 흰 옷을 입고 나와 함께 다니리니 그들은 합당한 자인 연고라

계3:5 이기는 자는 이와 같이 흰 옷을 입을 것이요 내가 그 이름을 생명책에서 결코 지우지 아니하고 그 이름을 내 아버지 앞과 그의 천사들 앞에서 시인하리라

계3:6 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을지어다

계3:7 빌라델비아 교회의 사자에게 편지하라 거룩하고 진실하사 다윗의 열쇠를 가지신 이 곧 열면 닫을 사람이 없고 닫으면 열 사람이 없는 그가 이르시되

계3:8 볼지어다 내가 네 앞에 열린 문을 두었으되 능히 닫을 사람이 없으리라 내가 네 행위를 아노니 네가 작은 능력을 가지고서도 내 말을 지키며 내 이름을 배반하지 아니하였도다

계3:9 보라 사탄의 회당 곧 자칭 유대인이라 하나 그렇지 아니하고 거짓말하는 자들 중에서 몇을 네게 주어 그들로 와서 네 발 앞에 절하게 하고 내가 너를 사랑하는 줄을 알게 하리라

계3:10 네가 나의 인내의 말씀을 지켰은즉 내가 또한 너를 지켜 시험의 때를 면하게 하리니 이는 장차 온 세상에 임하여 땅에 거하는 자들을 시험할 때라

계3:11 내가 속히 오리니 네가 가진 것을 굳게 잡아 아무도 네 면류관을 빼앗지 못하게 하라

계3:12 이기는 자는 내 하나님 성전에 기둥이 되게 하리니 그가 결코 다시 나가지 아니하리라 내가 하나님의 이름과 하나님의 성 곧 하늘에서 내 하나님께로부터 내려오는 새 예루살렘의 이름과 나의 새 이름을 그이 위에 기록하리라

계3:13 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을지어다

계3:14 라오디게아 교회의 사자에게 편지하라 아멘이시오 충성되고 참된 증인이시오 하나님의 창조의 근본이신 이가 이르시되

계3:15 내가 네 행위를 아노니 네가 차지도 아니하고 뜨겁지도 아니하도다 네가 차든지 뜨겁든지 하기를 원하노라

계3:16 네가 이같이 미지근하여 뜨겁지도 아니하고 차지도 아니하니 내 입에서 너를 토하여 버리리라

계3:17 네가 말하기를 나는 부자라 부요하여 부족한 것이 없다 하나 네 곤고한 것과 가련한 것과 가난한 것과 눈 먼 것과 벌거벗은 것을 알지 못하는도다

계3:18 내가 너를 원하노니 내게서 불로 연단한 금을 사서 부요하게 하고 흰 옷을 사서 입어 벌거벗은 수치를 보이지 않게 하고 안약을 사서 눈에 발라 보게 하라

계3:19 무릇 내가 사랑하는 자를 책망하여 징계하노니 그러므로 네가 열심을 내라 회개하라

계3:20 볼지어다 내가 문 밖에 서서 두드리노니 누구든지 내 음성을 듣고 문을 열면 내가 그에게로 들어가 그와 더불어 먹고 그는 나와 더불어 먹으리라

계3:21 이기는 그에게는 내가 내 보좌에 함께 앉게 하여 주기를 내가 이기고 아버지 보좌에 함께 앉은 것과 같이 하리라

계3:22 귀 있는 자는 성령이 교회들에게 하시는 말씀을 들을지어다

Deuteronomy 5.

5:1 Moses summoned all Israel and said: Hear, O Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them.

5:2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.

5:3 It was not with our fathers that the LORD made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today.

5:4 The LORD spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain.

5:5 (At that time I stood between the LORD and you to declare to you the word of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said:

5:6 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

5:7 "You shall have no other gods before me.

5:8 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

5:9 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

5:10 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

5:11 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

5:12 "Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you.

5:13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

5:14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor the alien within your gates, so that your manservant and maidservant may rest, as you do.

5:15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.

5:16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

5:17 "You shall not murder.

5:18 "You shall not commit adultery.

5:19 "You shall not steal.

5:20 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

5:21 "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor's house or land, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

5:22 These are the commandments the LORD proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.

5:23 When you heard the voice out of the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with fire, all the leading men of your tribes and your elders came to me.

5:24 And you said, "The LORD our God has shown us his glory and his majesty, and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a man can live even if God speaks with him.

5:25 But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any longer.

5:26 For what mortal man has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived?

5:27 Go near and listen to all that the LORD our God says. Then tell us whatever the LORD our God tells you. We will listen and obey."

5:28 The LORD heard you when you spoke to me and the LORD said to me, "I have heard what this people said to you. Everything they said was good.

5:29 Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!

5:30 "Go, tell them to return to their tents.

5:31 But you stay here with me so that I may give you all the commands, decrees and laws you are to teach them to follow in the land I am giving them to possess."

5:32 So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left.

5:33 Walk in all the way that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

Psalms 88.

88:1 O LORD, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you.

88:2 May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry.

88:3 For my soul is full of trouble and my life draws near the grave.

88:4 I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am like a man without strength.

88:5 I am set apart with the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more, who are cut off from your care.

88:6 You have put me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths.

88:7 Your wrath lies heavily upon me; you have overwhelmed me with all your waves. Selah

88:8 You have taken from me my closest friends and have made me repulsive to them. I am confined and cannot escape;

88:9 my eyes are dim with grief. I call to you, O LORD, every day; I spread out my hands to you.

88:10 Do you show your wonders to the dead? Do those who are dead rise up and praise you? Selah

88:11 Is your love declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Destruction?

88:12 Are your wonders known in the place of darkness, or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion?

88:13 But I cry to you for help, O LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before you.

88:14 Why, O LORD, do you reject me and hide your face from me?

88:15 From my youth I have been afflicted and close to death; I have suffered your terrors and am in despair.

88:16 Your wrath has swept over me; your terrors have destroyed me.

88:17 All day long they surround me like a flood; they have completely engulfed me.

88:18 You have taken my companions and loved ones from me; the darkness is my closest friend.

Isaiah 33.

33:1 Woe to you, O destroyer, you who have not been destroyed! Woe to you, O traitor, you who have not been betrayed! When you stop destroying, you will be destroyed; when you stop betraying, you will be betrayed.

33:2 O LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.

33:3 At the thunder of your voice, the peoples flee; when you rise up, the nations scatter.

33:4 Your plunder, O nations, is harvested as by young locusts; like a swarm of locusts men pounce on it.

33:5 The LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness.

33:6 He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.

33:7 Look, their brave men cry aloud in the streets; the envoys of peace weep bitterly.

33:8 The highways are deserted, no travelers are on the roads. The treaty is broken, its witnesses are despised, no one is respected.

33:9 The land mourns and wastes away, Lebanon is ashamed and withers; Sharon is like the Arabah, and Bashan and Carmel drop their leaves.

33:10 "Now will I arise," says the LORD. "Now will I be exalted; now will I be lifted up.

33:11 You conceive chaff, you give birth to straw; your breath is a fire that consumes you.

33:12 The peoples will be burned as if to lime; like cut thornbushes they will be set ablaze."

33:13 You who are far away, hear what I have done; you who are near, acknowledge my power!

33:14 The sinners in Zion are terrified; trembling grips the godless: "Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with everlastijg burning?"

33:15 He who walks righteously and speaks what is right, who rejects gain from extortion and keeps his hand from accepting bribes, who stops his ears against plots of murder and shuts his eyes against contemplating evil--

33:16 this is the man who will dwell on the heights, whose refuge will be the mountain fortress. His bread will be supplied, and water will not fail him.

33:17 Your eyes will see the king in his beauty and view a land that stretches afar.

33:18 In your thoughts you will ponder the former terror: "Where is that chief officer? Where is the one who took the revenue? Where is the officer in charge of the towers?"

33:19 You will see those arrogant people no more, those people of an obscure speech, with their strange, incomprehensible tongue.

33:20 Look upon Zion, the city of our festivals; your eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful abode, a tent that will not be moved; its stakes will never be pulled up, nor any of its ropes broken.

33:21 There the LORD will be our Mighty One. It will be like a place of broad rivers and streams. No galley with oars will ride them, no mighty ship will sail them.

33:22 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; it is he who will save us.

33:23 Your rigging hangs loose: The mast is not held secure, the sail is not spread. Then an abundance of spoils will be divided and even the lame will carry off plunder.

33:24 No one living in Zion will say, "I am ill"; and the sins of those who dwell there will be forgiven.

Revelation 3.

3:1 "To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.

3:2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God.

3:3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

3:4 Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy.

3:5 He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels.

3:6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

3:7 "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.

3:8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

3:9 I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars--I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.

3:10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

3:11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

3:12 Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.

3:13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

3:14 "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation.

3:15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!

3:16 So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

3:17 You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

3:18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

3:19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.

3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

3:21 To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.

3:22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
