신명기 27 장.

신27:1 모세와 이스라엘 장로들이 백성에게 명령하여 이르되 내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 이 명령을 너희는 다 지킬지니라

신27:2 너희가 요단을 건너 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주시는 땅에 들어가는 날에 큰 돌들을 세우고 석회를 바르라

신27:3 요단을 건넌 후에 이 율법의 모든 말씀을 그 위에 기록하라 그리하면 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주시는 땅 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅에 네가 들어가기를 네 조상들의 하나님 여호와께서 네게 말씀하신 대로 하리라

신27:4 너희가 요단을 건너거든 내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 이 돌들을 에발 산에 세우고 그 위에 석회를 바를 것이며

신27:5 또 거기서 네 하나님 여호와를 위하여 제단 곧 돌단을 쌓되 그것에 쇠 연장을 대지 말지니라

신27:6 너는 다듬지 않은 돌로 네 하나님 여호와의 제단을 쌓고 그 위에 네 하나님 여호와께 번제를 드릴 것이며

신27:7 또 화목제를 드리고 거기에서 먹으며 네 하나님 여호와 앞에서 즐거워하라

신27:8 너는 이 율법의 모든 말씀을 그 돌들 위에 분명하고 정확하게 기록할지니라

신27:9 모세와 레위 제사장들이 온 이스라엘에게 말하여 이르되 이스라엘아 잠잠하여 들으라 오늘 네가 네 하나님 여호와의 백성이 되었으니

신27:10 그런즉 네 하나님 여호와의 말씀을 청종하여 내가 오늘 네게 명령하는 그 명령과 규례를 행할지니라

신27:11 모세가 그 날 백성에게 명령하여 이르되

신27:12 너희가 요단을 건넌 후에 시므온과 레위와 유다와 잇사갈과 요셉과 베냐민은 백성을 축복하기 위하여 그리심 산에 서고

신27:13 르우벤과 갓과 아셀과 스불론과 단과 납달리는 저주하기 위하여 에발 산에 서고

신27:14 레위 사람은 큰 소리로 이스라엘 모든 사람에게 말하여 이르기를

신27:15 장색의 손으로 조각하였거나 부어 만든 우상은 여호와께 가증하니 그것을 만들어 은밀히 세우는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 응답하여 말하되 아멘 할지니라

신27:16 그의 부모를 경홀히 여기는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신27:17 그의 이웃의 경계표를 옳기는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신27:18 맹인에게 길을 잃게 하는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신27:19 객이나 고아나 과부의 송사를 억울하게 하는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신27:20 그의 아버지의 아내와 동침하는 자는 그의 아버지의 하체를 드러냈으니 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신27:21 짐승과 교합하는 모든 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신27:22 그의 자매 곧 그의 아버지의 딸이나 어머니의 딸과 동침하는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신27:23 장모와 동침하는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신27:24 그의 이웃을 암살하는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신27:25 무죄한 자를 죽이려고 뇌물을 받는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신27:26 이 율법의 말씀을 실행하지 아니하는 자는 저주를 받을 것이라 할 것이요 모든 백성은 아멘 할지니라

신명기 28 장 1-19.

신28:1 네가 네 하나님 여호와의 말씀을 삼가 듣고 내가 오늘 네게 명령하는 그의 모든 명령을 지켜 행하면 네 하나님 여호와께서 너를 세계 모든 민족 위에 뛰어나게 하실 것이라

신28:2 네가 네 하나님 여호와의 말씀을 청종하면 이 모든 복이 네게 임하며 네게 이르리니

신28:3 성읍에서도 복을 받고 들에서도 복을 받을 것이며

신28:4 네 몸의 자녀와 네 토지의 소산과 네 짐승의 새끼와 소와 양의 새끼가 복을 받을 것이며

신28:5 네 광주리와 떡 반죽 그릇이 복을 받을 것이며

신28:6 네가 들어와도 복을 받고 나가도 복을 받을 것이니라

신28:7 여호와께서 너를 대적하기 위해 일어난 적군들을 네 앞에서 패하게 하시리라 그들이 한 길로 너를 치러 들어왔으나 네 앞에서 일곱 길로 도망하리라

신28:8 여호와께서 명령하사 네 창고와 네 손으로 하는 모든 일에 복을 내리시고 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주시는 땅에서 네게 복을 주실 것이며

신28:9 여호와께서 네게 맹세하신 대로 너를 세워 자기의 성민이 되게 하시리니 이는 네가 네 하나님 여호와의 명령을 지켜 그 길로 행할 것임이니라

신28:10 땅의 모든 백성이 여호와의 이름이 너를 위하여 불리는 것을 보고 너를 두려워하리라

신28:11 여호와께서 네게 주리라고 네 조상들에게 맹세하신 땅에서 네게 복을 주사 네 몸의 소생과 가축의 새끼와 토지의 소산을 많게 하시며

신28:12 여호와께서 너를 위하여 하늘의 아름다운 보고를 여시사 네 땅에 때를 따라 비를 내리시고 네 손으로 하는 모든 일에 복을 주시리니 네가 많은 민족에게 꾸어줄지라도 너는 꾸지 아니할 것이요

신28:13 여호와께서 너를 머리가 되고 꼬리가 되지 않게 하시며 위에만 있고 아래에 있지 않게 하시리니 오직 너는 내가 오늘 네게 명령하는 네 하나님 여호와의 명령을 듣고 지켜 행하며

신28:14 내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 그 말씀을 떠나 좌로나 우로나 치우치지 아니하고 다른 신을 따라 섬기지 아니하면 이와 같으리라

신28:15 네가 만일 네 하나님 여호와의 말씀을 순종하지 아니하여 내가 오늘 네게 명령하는 그의 모든 명령과 규례를 지켜 행하지 아니하면 이 모든 저주가 네게 임하며 네게 이를 것이니

신28:16 네가 성읍에서도 저주를 받으며 들에서도 저주를 받을 것이요

신28:17 또 네 광주리와 떡 반죽 그릇이 저주를 받을 것이요

신28:18 네 몸의 소생과 네 토지의 소산과 네 소와 양의 새끼가 저주를 받을 것이며

신28:19 네가 들어와도 저주를 받고 나가도 저주를 받으리라

시편 119 장 1-24.

시119:1 행위가 온전하여 여호와의 율법을 따라 행하는 자들은 복이 있음이여

시119:2 여호와의 증거들을 지키고 전심으로 여호와를 구하는 자는 복이 있도다

시119:3 참으로 그들은 불의를 행하지 아니하고 주의 도를 행하는도다

시119:4 주께서 명령하사 주의 법도를 잘 지키게 하셨나이다

시119:5 내 길을 굳게 정하사 주의 율례를 지키게 하소서

시119:6 내가 주의 모든 계명에 주의할 때에는 부끄럽지 아니하리이다

시119:7 내가 주의 의로운 판단을 배울 때에는 정직한 마음으로 주께 감사하리이다

시119:8 내가 주의 율례들을 지키오리니 나를 아주 버리지 마옵소서

시119:9 청년이 무엇으로 그의 행실을 깨끗하게 하리이까 주의 말씀만 지킬 따름이니이다

시119:10 내가 전심으로 주를 찾았사오니 주의 계명에서 떠나지 말게 하소서

시119:11 내가 주께 범죄하지 아니하려 하여 주의 말씀을 내 마음에 두었나이다

시119:12 찬송을 받으실 주 여호와여 주의 율례들을 내게 가르치소서

시119:13 주의 입의 모든 규례들을 나의 입술로 선포하였으며

시119:14 내가 모든 재물을 즐거워함 같이 주의 증거들의 도를 즐거워하였나이다

시119:15 내가 주의 법도들을 작은 소리로 읊조리며 주의 길들에 주의하며

시119:16 주의 율례들을 즐거워하며 주의 말씀을 잊지 아니하리이다

시119:17 주의 종을 후대하여 살게 하소서 그리하시면 주의 말씀을 지키리이다

시119:18 내 눈을 열어서 주의 율법에서 놀라운 것을 보게 하소서

시119:19 나는 땅에서 나그네가 되었사오니 주의 계명들을 내게 숨기지 마소서

시119:20 주의 규례들을 항상 사모함으로 내 마음이 상하나이다

시119:21 교만하여 저주를 받으며 주의 계명들에서 떠나는 자들을 주께서 꾸짖으셨나이다

시119:22 내가 주의 교훈들을 지켰사오니 비방과 멸시를 내게서 떠나게 하소서

시119:23 고관들도 앉아서 나를 비방하였사오나 주의 종은 주의 율례들을 작은 소리로 읊조렸나이다

시119:24 주의 증거들은 나의 즐거움이요 나의 충고자니이다

이사야 54 장.

사54:1 잉태하지 못하며 출산하지 못한 너는 노래할지어다 산고를 겪지 못한 너는 외쳐 노래할지어다 이는 홀로 된 여인의 자식이 남편 있는 자의 자식보다 많음이라 여호와께서 말씀하셨느니라

사54:2 네 장막터를 넓히며 네 처소의 휘장을 아끼지 말고 널리 펴되 너의 줄을 길게 하며 너의 말뚝을 견고히 할지어다

사54:3 이는 네가 좌우로 퍼지며 네 자손은 열방을 얻으며 황폐한 성읍들을 사람 살 곳이 되게 할 것임이라

사54:4 두려워하지 말라 네가 수치를 당하지 아니하리라 놀라지 말라 네가 부끄러움을 보지 아니하리라 네가 네 젊었을 때의 수치를 잊겠고 과부 때의 치욕을 다시 기억함이 없으리니

사54:5 이는 너를 지으신 이가 네 남편이시라 그의 이름은 만군의 여호와이시며 네 구속자는 이스라엘의 거룩한 자시라 그는 온 땅의 하나님이라 일컬음을 받으실 것이라

사54:6 여호와께서 너를 부르시되 마치 버림을 받아 마음에 근심하는 아내 곧 어릴 때에 아내 되었다가 버림을 받은 자에게 함 같이 하실 것임이라 네 하나님께서 말씀하셨느니라

사54:7 내가 잠시 너를 버렸으나 큰 긍휼로 너를 모을 것이요

사54:8 내가 넘치는 진노로 내 얼굴을 네게서 잠시 가리웠으나 영원한 자비로 너를 긍휼히 여기리라 네 구속자 여호와께서 말씀하셨느니라

사54:9 이는 내게 노아의 홍수와 같도다 내가 다시는 노아의 홍수로 땅 위에 범람하지 모하게 하리라 맹세한 것 같이 내가 네게 노하지 아니하며 너를 책망하지 아니하기로 맹세하였노니

사54:10 산들은 떠나며 언덕들은 옮겨질지라도 나의 자비는 네게서 떠나지 아니하며 나의 화평의 언약은 흔들리지 아니하리라 너를 긍휼히 여기시는 여호와께서 말씀하셨느니라

사54:11 너 곤고하며 광풍에 요동하여 안위를 받지 못한 자여 보라 내가 화려한 채색으로 네 돌 사이에 더하며 청옥으로 네 기초를 쌓으며

사54:12 홍보석으로 네 성벽을 지으며 석류석으로 네 성문을 만들고 네 지경을 다 보석으로 꾸밀 것이며

사54:13 네 모든 자녀는 여호와의 교훈을 받을 것이니 네 자녀에게는 큰 평안이 있을 것이며

사54:14 너는 공의로 설 것이며 학대가 네게서 멀어질 것인즉 네가 두려워 아니할 것이며 공포도 네게 가까이하지 못할 것이라

사54:15 보라 그들이 분쟁을 일으킬지라도 나로 말미암지 아니한 것이니 누구든지 너와 분쟁을 일으키는 자는 너로 말미암아 패망하리라

사54:16 보라 숯불을 불어서 자기가 쓸 만한 연장을 제조하는 장인도 내가 창조하였고 파괴하며 진멸하는 자도 내가 창조하였은즉

사54:17 너를 치려고 제조된 모든 연장이 쓸모가 없을 것이라 일어나 너를 대적하여 송사하는 모든 혀는 네게 정죄를 당하리니 이는 여호와의 종들의 기업이요 이는 그들이 내게서 얻은 공의니라 여호와의 말씀이니라

마태복음 2 장.

마2:1 헤롯 왕 때에 예수께서 유대 베들레헴에서 나시매 동방으로부터 박사들이 예루살렘에 이르러 말하되

마2:2 유대인의 왕으로 나신 이가 어디 계시냐 우리가 동방에서 그의 별을 보고 그에게 경배하러 왔노라 하니

마2:3 헤롯 왕과 온 예루살렘이 듣고 소동한지라

마2:4 왕이 모든 대제사장과 백성의 서기관들을 모아 그리스도가 어디서 나겠느냐 물으니

마2:5 이르되 유대 베들레헴이오니 이는 선지자로 이렇게 기록된 바

마2:6 또 유대 땅 베들레헴아 너는 유대 고을 중에서 가장 작지 아니하도다 네게서 한 다스리는 자가 나와서 내 백성 이스라엘의 목자가 되리라 하였음이니이다

마2:7 이에 헤롯이 가만히 박사들을 불러 별이 나타난 때를 자세히 묻고

마2:8 베들레헴으로 보내며 이르되 가서 아기에 대하여 자세히 알아보고 찾거든 내게 고하여 나도 가서 그에게 경배하게 하라

마2:9 박사들이 왕의 말을 듣고 갈새 동방에서 보던 그 별이 문득 앞서 인도하여 가다가 아기 있는 곳 위에 머물러 서 있는지라

마2:10 그들이 별을 보고 매우 크게 기뻐하고 기뻐하더라

마2:11 집에 들어가 아기와 그의 어머니 마리아가 함께 있는 것을 보고 엎드려 아기께 경배하고 보배합을 열어 황금과 유향과 몰약을 예물로 드리니라

마2:12 그들은 꿈에 헤롯에게로 돌아가지 말라 지시하심을 받아 다른 길로 고국에 돌아가니라

마2:13 그들이 떠난 후에 주의 사자가 요셉에게 현몽하여 이르되 헤롯이 아기를 찾아 죽이려 하니 일어나 아기와 그의 어머니를 데리고 애굽으로 피하여 내가 네게 이르기까지 거기 있으라 하시니

마2:14 요셉이 일어나서 밤에 아기와 그의 어머니를 데리고 애굽으로 떠나가

마2:15 헤롯이 죽기까지 거기 있었으니 이는 주께서 선지자를 통하여 말씀하신 바 애굽으로부터 내 아들을 불렀다 함을 이루려 하심이라

마2:16 이에 헤롯이 박사들에게 속은 줄 알고 심히 노하여 사람을 보내어 베들레헴과 그 모든 지경 안에 있는 사내아이를 박사들에게 자세히 알아본 그 때를 기준하여 두 살부터 그 아래로 다 죽이니

마2:17 이에 선지자 예레미야를 통하여 말씀하신 바

마2:18 라마에서 슬퍼하며 크게 통곡하는 소리가 들리니 라헬이 그 자식을 위하여 애곡하는 것이라 그가 자식이 없으므로 위로 받기를 거절하였도다 함이 이루어졌느니라

마2:19 헤롯이 죽은 후에 주의 사자가 애굽에서 요셉에게 현몽하여 이르되

마2:20 일어나 아기와 그 어머니를 데리고 이스라엘 땅으로 가라 아기의 목숨을 찾던 자들이 죽었느니라 하시니

마2:21 요셉이 일어나 아기와 그 어머니를 데리고 이스라엘 땅으로 들어가니라

마2:22 그러나 아켈라오가 그의 아버지 헤롯을 이어 유대의 임금 됨을 듣고 거기로 가기를 무서워하더니 꿈에 지시하심을 받아 갈릴리 지방으로 떠나가

마2:23 나사렛이란 동네에 가서 사니 이는 선지자로 하신 말씀에 나사렛 사람이라 칭하리라 하심을 이루려 함이러라

Deuteronomy 27.

27:1 Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people: "Keep all these commands that I give you today.

27:2 When you have crossed the Jordan into the land the LORD your God is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with plaster.

27:3 Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, promised you.

27:4 And when you have crossed the Jordan, set up these stones on Mount Ebal, as I command you today, and coat them with plaster.

27:5 Build there an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones. Do not use any iron tool upon them.

27:6 Build the altar of the LORD your God with fieldstones and offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God.

27:7 Sacrifice fellowship offerings there, eating them and rejoicing in the presence of the LORD your God.

27:8 And you shall write very clearly all the words of this law on these stones you have set up."

27:9 Then Moses and the priests, who are Levites, said to all Israel, "Be silent, O Israel, and listen! You have now become the people of the LORD your God.

27:10 Obey the LORD your God and follow his commands and decrees that I give you today."

27:11 On the same day Moses commanded the people:

27:12 When you have crossed the Jordan, these tribes shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph and Benjamin.

27:13 And these tribes shall stand on Mount Ebal to pronounce curses: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan and Naphtali.

27:14 The Levites shall recite to all the people of Israel in a loud voice:

27:15 "Cursed is the man who carves an image or casts an idol--a thing detestable to the LORD, the work of the craftsman's hands--and sets it up in secret." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:16 "Cursed is the man who dishonors his father or his mother." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:17 "Cursed is the man who moves his neighbor's boundary stone." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:18 "Cursed is the man who leads the blind astray on the road." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:19 "Cursed is the man who withholds justice from the alien, the fatherless or the widow." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:20 "Cursed is the man who sleeps with his father's wife, for he dishonors his father's bed." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:21 "Cursed is the man who has sexual relations with any animal." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:22 "Cursed is the man who sleeps with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:23 "Cursed is the man who sleeps with his mother-in-law." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:24 "Cursed is the man who kills his neighbor secretly." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:25 "Cursed is the man who accepts a bribe to kill an innocent person." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

27:26 "Cursed is the man who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

Deuteronomy 28 1-19.

28:1 If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.

28:2 All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God:

28:3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.

28:4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock--the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.

28:5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.

28:6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.

28:7 The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.

28:8 The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

28:9 The LORD will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the LORD your God and walk in his ways.

28:10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they will fear you.

28:11 The LORD will grant you abundant prosperity--in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground--in the land he swore to your forefathers to give you.

28:12 The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.

28:13 The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.

28:14 Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.

28:15 However, if you do not obey the LORD your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:

28:16 You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country.

28:17 Your basket and your kneading trough will be cursed.

28:18 The fruit of your womb will be cursed, and the crops of your land, and the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.

28:19 You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.

Psalms 119 1-24.

119:1 Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.

119:2 Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart.

119:3 They do nothing wrong; they walk in his ways.

119:4 You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed.

119:5 Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!

119:6 Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands.

119:7 I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.

119:8 I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me.

119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.

119:10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.

119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

119:12 Praise be to you, O LORD; teach me your decrees.

119:13 With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth.

119:14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.

119:15 I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways.

119:16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.

119:17 Do good to your servant, and I will live; I will obey your word.

119:18 Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.

119:19 I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me.

119:20 My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times.

119:21 You rebuke the arrogant, who are cursed and who stray from your commands.

119:22 Remove from me scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes.

119:23 Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees.

119:24 Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.

Isaiah 54.

54:1 "Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband," says the LORD.

54:2 "Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.

54:3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.

54:4 "Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.

54:5 For your Maker is your husband--the LORD Almighty is his name--the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

54:6 The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit--a wife who married young, only to be rejected," says your God.

54:7 "For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back.

54:8 In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you," says the LORD your Redeemer.

54:9 "To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.

54:10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

54:11 "O afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will build you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with sapphires.

54:12 I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.

54:13 All your sons will be taught by the LORD, and great will be your children's peace.

54:14 In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you.

54:15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you.

54:16 "See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc;

54:17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD.

Matthew 2.

2:1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem

2:2 and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."

2:3 When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.

2:4 When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born.

2:5 "In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written:

2:6 "'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'"

2:7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.

2:8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him."

2:9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.

2:10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.

2:11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.

2:12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

2:13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."

2:14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt,

2:15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son."

2:16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

2:17 Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

2:18 "A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more."

2:19 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt

2:20 and said, "Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child's life are dead."

2:21 So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.

2:22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee,

2:23 and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."
