신명기 33 장.

신33:1 하나님의 사람 모세가 죽기 전에 이스라엘 자손을 위하여 축복함이 이러하니라

신33:2 그가 일렀으되 여호와께서 시내 산에서 오시고 세일 산에서 일어나시고 바란 산에서 비추시고 일만 성도 가운데에 강림하셨고 그의 오른손에는 그들을 위해 번쩍이는 불이 있도다

신33:3 여호와께서 백성을 사랑하시나니 모든 성도가 그의 수중에 있으며 주의 발 아래에 앉아서 주의 말씀을 받는도다

신33:4 모세가 우리에게 율법을 명령하였으니 곧 야곱의 총회의 기업이로다

신33:5 여수룬에 왕이 있었으니 곧 백성의 수령이 모이고 이스라엘 모든 지파가 함께 한 때에로다

신33:6 르우벤은 죽지 아니하고 살기를 원하며 그 사람 수가 적지 아니하기를 원하나이다

신33:7 유다에 대한 축복은 이러하니라 일렀으되 여호와여 유다의 음성을 들으시고 그의 백성에게로 인도하시오며 그의 손으로 자기를 위하여 싸우게 하시고 주께서 도우사 그가 그 대적을 치게 하시기를 원하나이다

신33:8 레위에 대하여는 일렀으되 주의 둠밈과 우림이 주의 경건한 자에게 있도다 주께서 그를 맛사에서 시험하시고 므리바 물 가에서 그와 다투셨도다

신33:9 그는 그의 부모에게 대하여 이르기를 내가 그들을 보지 못하였다 하며 그의 형제들을 인정하지 아니하며 그의 자녀를 알지 아니한 것은 주의 말씀을 준행하고 주의 언약을 지킴으로 말미암음이로다

신33:10 주의 법도를 야곱에게, 주의 율법을 이스라엘에게 가르치며 주 앞에 분향하고 온전한 번제를 주의 제단 위에 드리리로다

신33:11 여호와여 그의 재산을 풍족하게 하시고 그의 손의 일을 받으소서 그를 대적하여 일어나는 자와 미워하는 자의 허리를 꺾으사 다시 일어나지 못하게 하옵소서

신33:12 베냐민에 대하여는 일렀으되 여호와의 사랑을 입은 자는 그 곁에 안전히 살리로다 여호와께서 그를 날이 마치도록 보호하시고 그를 자기 어깨 사이에 있게 하시리로다

신33:13 요셉에 대하여는 일렀으되 원하건대 그 땅이 여호와께 복을 받아 하늘의 보물인 이슬과 땅 아래에 저장한 물과

신33:14 태양이 결실하게 하는 선물과 태음이 자라게 하는 선물과

신33:15 옛 산의 좋은 산물과 영원한 작은 언덕의 선물과

신33:16 땅의 선물과 거기 충만한 것과 가시떨기나무 가운데에 계시던 이의 은혜로 말미암아 복이 요셉의 머리에, 그의 형제 중 구별한 자의 정수리에 임할지로다

신33:17 그는 첫 수송아지 같이 위엄이 있으니 그 뿔이 들소의 뿔 같도다 이것으로 민족들을 받아 땅 끝까지 이르리니 곧 에브라임의 자손은 만만이요 므낫세의 자손은 천천이리로다

신33:18 스불론에 대하여는 일렀으되 스불론이여 너는 밖으로 나감을 기뻐하라 잇사갈이여 너는 장막에 있음을 즐거워하라

신33:19 그들이 백성들을 불러 산에 이르게 하고 거기에서 의로운 제사를 드릴 것이며 바다의 풍부한 것과 모래에 감추어진 보배를 흡수하리로다

신33:20 갓에 대하여는 일렀으되 갓을 광대하게 하시는 이에게 찬송을 부를지어다 갓이 암사자 같이 엎드리고 팔과 정수리를 찢는도다

신33:21 그가 자기를 위하여 먼저 기업을 택하였으니 곧 입법자의 분깃으로 준비된 것이로다 그가 백성의 수령들과 함께 와서 여호와의 공의와 이스라엘과 세우신 법도를 행하도다

신33:22 단에 대하여는 일렀으되 단은 바산에서 뛰어나오는 사자의 새끼로다

신33:23 납달리에 대하여는 일렀으되 은혜가 풍성하고 여호와의 복이 가득한 납달리여 너는 서쪽과 남쪽을 차지할지로다

신33:24 아셀에 대하여는 일렀으되 아셀은 아들들 중에 더 복을 받으며 그의 형제에게 기쁨이 되며 그의 발이 기름에 잠길지로다

신33:25 네 문빗장은 철과 놋이 될 것이니 네가 사는 날을 따라서 능력이 있으리로다

신33:26 여수룬이여 하나님 같은 이가 없도다 그가 너를 도우시려고 하늘을 타고 궁창에서 위엄을 나타내시는도다

신33:27 영원하신 하나님이 네 처소가 되시니 그의 영원하신 팔이 네 아래에 있도다 그가 네 앞에서 대적을 쫓으시며 멸하라 하시도다

신33:28 이스라엘이 안전히 거하며 야곱의 샘은 곡식과 새 포도주의 땅에 홀로 있나니 곧 그의 하늘이 이슬을 내리는 곳에로다

신33:29 이스라엘이여 너는 행복한 사람이로다 여호와의 구원을 너 같이 얻은 백성이 누구냐 그는 너를 돕는 방패시요 네 영광의 칼이시로다 네 대적이 네게 복종하리니 네가 그들의 높은 곳을 밟으리로다

신명기 34 장.

신34:1 모세가 모압 평지에서 느보 산에 올라가 여리고 맞은편 비스가 산꼭대기에 이르매 여호와께서 길르앗 온 땅을 단까지 보이시고

신34:2 또 온 납달리와 에브라임과 므낫세의 땅과 서해까지의 유다 온 땅과

신34:3 네겝과 종려나무의 성읍 여리고 골짜기 평지를 소알까지 보이시고

신34:4 여호와께서 그에게 이르시되 이는 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세하여 그의 후손에게 주리라 한 땅이라 내가 네 눈으로 보게 하였거니와 너는 그리로 건너가지 못하리라 하시매

신34:5 이에 여호와의 종 모세가 여호와의 말씀대로 모압 땅에서 죽어

신34:6 벳브올 맞은편 모압 땅에 있는 골짜기에 장사되었고 오늘까지 그의 묻힌 곳을 아는 자가 없느니라

신34:7 모세가 죽을 때 나이 백이십 세였으나 그의 눈이 흐리지 아니하였고 기력이 쇠하지 아니하였더라

신34:8 이스라엘 자손이 모압 평지에서 모세를 위하여 애곡하는 기간이 끝나도록 모세를 위하여 삼십 일을 애곡하니라

신34:9 모세가 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 안수하였으므로 그에게 지혜의 영이 충만하니 이스라엘 자손이 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 여호수아의 말을 순종하였더라

신34:10 그 후에는 이스라엘에 모세와 같은 선지자가 일어나지 못하였나니 모세는 여호와께서 대면하여 아시던 자요

신34:11 여호와께서 그를 애굽 땅에 보내사 바로와 그의 모든 신화와 그의 온 땅에 모든 이적과 기사와

신34:12 모든 큰 권능과 위엄을 행하게 하시매 온 이스라엘의 목전에서 그것을 행한 자이더라

시편 119 장 145-176.

시119:145 여호와여 내가 전심으로 부르짖었사오니 내게 응답하소서 내가 주의 교훈들을 지키리이다

시119:146 내가 주께 부르짖었사오니 나를 구원하소서 내가 주의 증거들을 지키리이다

시119:147 내가 날이 밝기 전에 부르짖으며 주의 말씀을 바랐사오며

시119:148 주의 말씀을 조용히 읊조리려고 내가 새벽녘에 눈을 떴나이다

시119:149 주의 인자히심을 따라 내 소리를 들으소서 여호와여 주의 규례들을 따라 나를 살리소서

시119:150 악을 따르는 자들이 가까이 왔사오니 그들은 주의 법에서 머니이다

시119:151 여호와여 주께서 가까이 계시오니 주의 모든 계명들은 진리니이다

시119:152 내가 전부터 주의 증거들을 알고 있었으므로 주께서 영원히 세우신 것인 줄을 알았나이다

시119:153 나의 고난을 보시고 나를 건지소서 내가 주의 율법을 잊지 아니함이니이다

시119:154 주께서 나를 변호하시고 나를 구하사 주의 말씀대로 나를 살리소서

시119:155 구원이 악인들에게 멀어짐은 그들이 주의 율례들을 구하지 아니함이니이다

시119:156 여호와여 주의 긍휼이 많으오니 주의 규례들에 따라 나를 살리소서

시119:157 나를 핍박하는 자들과 나의 대적들이 많으나 나는 주의 증거들에서 떠나지 아니하였나이다

시119:158 주의 말씀을 지키지 아니하는 거짓된 자들을 내가 보고 슬퍼하였나이다

시119:159 내가 주의 법도들을 사랑함을 보옵소서 여호와여 주의 인자하심을 따라 나를 살리소서

시119:160 주의 말씀의 강령은 진리이오니 주의 의로운 모든 규례들은 영원하리이다

시119:161 고관들이 거짓으로 나를 핍박하오나 나의 마음은 주의 말씀만 경외하나이다

시119:162 사람들이 많은 탈취물을 얻은 것처럼 나는 주의 말씀을 즐거워하나이다

시119:163 나는 거짓을 미워하며 싫어하고 주의 율법을 사랑하나이다

시119:164 주의 의로운 규례들로 말미암아 내가 하루 일곱 번씩 주를 찬양하나이다

시119:165 주의 법을 사랑하는 자에게는 큰 평안이 있으니 그들에게 장애물이 없으리이다

시119:166 내가 주의 법도들과 증거들을 지켰사오니 나의 모든 행위가 주 앞에 있음이니이다

시119:167 내 영혼이 주의 증거들을 지켰사오며 내가 이를 지극히 사랑하나이다

시119:168 내가 주의 법도들과 증거들을 지켰사오니 나의 모든 행위가 주 앞에 있음이니이다

시119:169 여호와여 나의 부르짖음이 주의 앞에 이르게 하시고 주의 말씀대로 나를 깨닫게 하소서

시119:170 나의 간구가 주의 앞에 이르게 하시고 주의 말씀대로 나를 건지소서

시119:171 주께서 율례를 내게 가르치시므로 내 입술이 주를 찬양하리이다

시119:172 주의 모든 계명들이 의로우므로 내 혀가 주의 말씀을 노래하리이다

시119:173 내가 주의 법도들을 택하였사오니 주의 손이 항상 나의 도움이 되게 하소서

시119:174 여호와여 내가 주의 구원을 사로 하였사오며 주의 율법을 즐거워하나이다

시119:175 내 영혼을 살게 하소서 그리하시면 주를 찬송하리이다 주의 규례들이 나를 돕게 하소서

시119:176 잃은 양 같이 내가 방황하오니 주의 종을 찾으소서 내가 주의 계명들을 잊지 아니함이니이다

이사야 60 장.

사60:1 일어나라 빛을 발하라 이는 네 빛이 이르렀고 여호와의 영광이 네 위에 임하였음이니라

사60:2 보라 어둠이 땅을 덮을 것이며 캄캄함이 만민을 가리려니와 오직 여호와께서 네 위에 임하실 것이며 그의 영광이 네 위에 나타나리니

사60:3 나라들은 네 빛으로, 왕들은 비치는 네 광명으로 나아오리라

사60:4 네 눈을 들어 사방을 보라 무리가 다 모여 네게로 오느니라 네 아들들은 먼 곳에서 오겠고 네 딸들은 안기어 올 것이라

사60:5 그 때에 네가 보고 끼쁜 빛을 내며 네 마음이 놀라고 또 화창하리니 이는 바다의 부가 네게로 돌아오며 나라들의 재물이 네게로 옴이라

사60:6 허다한 낙타, 미디안과 에바의 어린 낙타가 네 가운데 가득할 것이며 스바의 사람들은 다 금과 유향을 가지고 와서 여호와의 찬송을 전파할 것이며

사60:7 게달의 양 무리는 다 네게로 모일 것이요 느바욧의 숫양은 네게 공급되고 내 제단에 올라 기꺼이 받음이 되리니 내가 내 영광의 집을 영화롭게 하리라

사60:8 저 구름 같이, 비둘기들이 그 보금자리로 날아가는 것 같이 날아오는 자들이 누구냐

사60:9 곧 섬들이 나를 앙망하고 다시스의 배들이 먼저 이르되 먼 곳에서 네 자손과 그들의 은금을 아울러 싣고 와서 네 하나님 여호와의 이름에 드리려 하며 이스라엘의 거룩한 이에게 드리려 하는 자들이라 이는 내가 너를 영화롭게 하였음이라

사60:10 내가 노하여 너를 쳤으나 이제는 나의 은혜로 너를 불쌍히 여겼은즉 이방인들이 네 성벽을 쌓을 것이요 그들의 왕들이 너를 섬길 것이며

사60:11 네 성문이 항상 열려 주야로 닫히지 아니하리니 이는 사람들이 네게로 이방 나라들의 재물을 가져오며 그들의 왕들을 포로로 이끌어 옴이라

사60:12 너를 섬기지 아니하는 백성과 나라는 파멸하리니 그 백성들은 반드시 진멸되리라

사60:13 레바논의 영광 곧 잣나무와 소나무와 황양목이 함께 네게 이르러 내 거룩한 곳을 아름답게 할 것이며 내가 나의 발 둘 곳을 영화롭게 할 것이라

사60:14 너를 괴롭히던 자의 자손이 몸을 굽혀 네게 나아오며 너를 멸시하던 모든 자가 네 발 아래 엎드려 너를 일컬어 여호와의 성읍이라, 이스라엘의 거룩한 이의 시온이라 하리라

사60:15 전에는 네가 버림을 당하며 미움을 당하였으므로 네게로 가는 자가 없었으나 이제는 내가 너를 영원한 아름다움과 대대의 기쁨이 되게 하리니

사60:16 네가 나라들의 젖을 빨며 뭇 왕의 유방을 빨고 나 여호와는 네 구원자, 네 구속자, 야곱의 전능자인 줄 알리라

사60:17 내가 금을 가지고 놋을 대신하며 은을 가지고 철을 대신하며 놋으로 나무를 대신하며 철로 돌을 대신하며 화평을 세워 관원을 삼으며 공의를 세워 감독을 삼으리니

사60:18 다시는 강포한 일이 네 땅에 들리지 않을 것이요 황폐와 파멸이 네 국경 안에 다시 없을 것이며 네가 네 성벽을 구원이라, 네 성문을 찬송이라 부를 것이라

사60:19 다시는 낮에 해가 네 빛이 되지 아니하며 달도 네게 빛을 비추지 않을 것이요 오직 여호와가 네게 영원한 빛이 되며 네 하나님이 네 영광이 되리니

사60:20 다시는 네 해가 지지 아니하며 네 달이 물러가지 아니할 것은 여호와가 네 영원한 빛이 되고 네 슬픔의 날이 끝날 것임이라

사60:21 네 백성이 다 의롭게 되어 영원히 땅을 차지하리니 그들은 내가 심은 가지요 내가 손으로 만든 것으로서 나의 영광을 나타낼 것인즉

사60:22 그 작은 자가 천 명을 이루겠고 그 약한 자가 강국을 이룰 것이라 때가 되면 나 여호와가 속히 이루리라

마태복음 8 장.

마8:1 예수께서 산에서 내려오시니 수많은 무리가 따르니라

마8:2 한 나병환자가 나아와 절하며 이르되 주여 원하시면 저를 깨끗하게 하실 수 있나이다 하거늘

마8:3 예수께서 손을 내밀어 그에게 대시며 이르시되 내가 원하노니 깨끗함을 받으라 하시니 즉시 그의 나병이 깨끗하여진지라

마8:4 예수께서 이르시되 삼가 아무에게도 이르지 말고 다만 가서 제사장에게 네 몸을 보이고 모세가 명한 예물을 드려 그들에게 입증하라 하시니라

마8:5 예수께서 가버나움에 들어가시니 한 백부장이 나아와 간구하여

마8:6 이르되 주여 내 하인이 중풍병으로 집에 누워 몹시 괴로워하나이다

마8:7 이르시되 내가 가서 고쳐 주리라

마8:8 백부장이 대답하여 이르되 주여 내 집에 들어오심을 나는 감당하지 못하겠사오니 다만 말씀으로만 하옵소서 그러면 내 하인이 낫겠사옵나이다

마8:9 나도 남의 수하에 있는 사람이요 내 아래에도 군사가 있으니 이더러 가라 하면 가고 저더러 오라 하면 오고 내 종더러 이것을 하라 하면 하나이다

마8:10 예수께서 들으시고 놀랍게 여겨 따르는 자들에게 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 이스라엘 중 아무에게서도 이만한 믿음을 보지 못하였노라

마8:11 또 너희에게 이르노니 동 서로부터 많은 사람이 이르러 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱과 함께 천국에 앉으려니와

마8:12 그 나라의 본 자손들은 바깥 어두운 데 쫓겨나 거기서 울며 이를 갈게 되리라

마8:13 예수께서 백부장에게 이르시되 가라 네 믿은 대로 될지어다 하시니 그 즉시 하인이 나으니라

마8:14 예수께서 베드로의 집에 들어가사 그의 장모가 열병으로 앓아 누운 것을 보시고

마8:15 그의 손을 만지시니 열병이 떠나가고 여인이 일어나서 예수께 수종들더라

마8:16 저물매 사람들이 귀신 들린 자를 많이 데리고 예수께 오거늘 예수께서 말씀으로 귀신들을 쫓아 내시고 병든 자들을 다 고치시니

마8:17 이는 선지자 이사야를 통하여 하신 말씀에 우리의 연약한 것을 친히 담당하시고 병을 짊어지셨도다 함을 이루려 하심이더라

마8:18 예수께서 무리가 자기를 에워싸는 것을 보시고 건너편으로 가기를 명하시니라

마8:19 한 서기관이 나아와 예수께 말씀하되 선생님이여 어디로 가시든지 저는 따르리이다

마8:20 예수께서 이르시되 여우도 굴이 있고 공중의 새도 거처가 있으되 인자는 머리 둘 곳이 없다 하시더라

마8:21 제자 중에 또 한 사람이 이르되 주여 내가 먼저 가서 내 아버지를 장사하게 허락하옵소서

마8:22 예수께서 이르시되 죽은 자들이 그들의 죽은 자들을 장사하게 하고 너는 나를 따르라 하시니라

마8:23 배에 오르시매 제자들이 따랐더니

마8:24 바다에 큰 놀이 일어나 물결이 배에 덮이게 되었으되 예수께서는 주무시는지라

마8:25 그 제자들이 나아와 깨우며 가로되 주여 구원하소서 우리가 죽겠나이다

마8:26 예수께서 이르시되 어찌하여 무서워하느냐 믿음이 적은 자들아 하시고 곧 일어나사 바람과 바다를 꾸짖으시니 아주 잔잔하게 되거늘

마8:27 그 사람들이 놀랍게 여겨 이르되 이이가 어떠한 사람이기에 바람과 바다도 순종하는가 하더라

마8:28 또 예수께서 건너편 가다라 지방에 가시매 귀신 들린 자 둘이 무덤 사이에서 나와 예수를 만나니 그들은 몹시 사나워 아무도 그 길로 지나갈 수 없을 지경이더라

마8:29 이에 그들이 소리 질러 이르되 하나님의 아들이여 우리가 당신과 무슨 상관이 있나이까 때가 이르기 전에 우리를 괴롭게 하려고 여기 오셨나이까 하더니

마8:30 마침 멀리서 많은 돼지 떼가 먹고 있는지라

마8:31 귀신들이 예수께 간구하여 이르되 만일 우리를 쫓아 내시려면 돼지 떼에 들여 보내소서 하니

마8:32 그들에게 가라 하시니 귀신들이 나와서 돼지에게로 들어가는지라 온 떼가 비탈로 내리달아 바다에 들어가서 물에서 몰사하거늘

마8:33 치던 자들이 달아나 시내에 들어가 이 모든 일과 귀신 들린 자의 일을 고하니

마8:34 온 시내가 예수를 만나려고 나가서 보고 그 지방에서 떠나시기를 간구하더라

Deuteronomy 33.

33:1 This is the blessing that Moses the man of God pronounced on the Israelites before his death.

33:2 He said: "The LORD came from Sinai and dawned over them from Seir; he shone forth from Mount Paran. He came with myriads of holy ones from the south, from his mountain slopes.

33:3 Surely it is you who love the people; all the holy ones are in your hand. At your feet they all bow down, and from you receive instruction,

33:4 the law that Moses gave us, the possession of the assembly of Jacob.

33:5 He was king over Jeshurun when the leaders of the people assembled, along with the tribes of Israel.

33:6 "Let Reuben live and not die, nor his men be few."

33:7 And this he said about Judah: "Hear, O LORD, the cry of Judah; bring him to his people. With his own hands he defends his cause. Oh, be his help against his foes!"

33:8 About Levi he said: "Your Thummim and Urim belong to the man you favored. You tested him at Massah; you contended with him at the waters of Meribah.

33:9 He said of his father and mother, 'I have no regard for them.' He did not recognize his brothers or acknowledge his own children, but he watched over your word and guarded your covenant.

33:10 He teaches your precepts to Jacob and your law to Israel. He offers incense before you and whole burnt offerings on your altar.

33:11 Bless all his skills, O LORD, and be pleased with the work of his hands. Smite the loins of those who rise up against him; strike his foes till they rise no more."

33:12 About Benjamin he said: "Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders."

33:13 About Joseph he said: "May the LORD bless his land with the precious dew from heaven above and with the deep waters that lie below;

33:14 with the best the sun brings forth and the finest the moon can yield;

33:15 with the choicest gifts of the ancient mountains and the fruitfulness of the everlasting hills;

33:16 with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness and the favor of him who dwelt in the burning bush. Let all these rest on the head of Joseph, on the brow of the prince among his brothers.

33:17 In majesty he is like a firstborn bull; his horns are the horns of a wild ox. With them he will gore the nations, even those at the ends of the earth. Such are the ten thousands of Ephraim; such are the thousands of Manasseh."

33:18 About Zebulun he said: "Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out, and you, Issachar, in your tents.

33:19 They will summon peoples to the mountain and there offer sacrifices of righteousness; they will feast on the abundance of the seas, on the treasures hidden in the sand."

33:20 About Gad he said: "Blessed is he who enlarges Gad's domain! Gad lives there like a lion, tearing at arm or head.

33:21 He chose the best land for himself; the leader's portion was kept for him. When the heads of the people assembled, he carried out the LORD'S righteous will, and his judgments concerning Israel."

33:22 About Dan he said: "Dan is a lion's cub, springing out of Bashan."

33:23 About Naphtali he said: "Naphtali is abounding with the favor of the LORD and is full of his blessing; he will inherit southward to the lake."

33:24 About Asher he said: "Most blessed of sons is Asher; let him be favored by his brothers, and let him bathe his feet in oil.

33:25 The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze, and your strength will equal your days.

33:26 "There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides on the heavens to help you and on the clouds in his majesty.

33:27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, 'Destroy him!'

33:28 So Israel will live in safety alone; Jacob's spring is secure in a land of grain and new wine, where the heavens drop dew.

33:29 Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will trample down their high places."

Deuteronomy 34.

34:1 Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the LORD showed him the whole land--from Gilead to Dan,

34:2 all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea,

34:3 the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar.

34:4 Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it."

34:5 And Moses the servant of the LORD died there in Moab, as the LORD had said.

34:6 He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.

34:7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.

34:8 The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.

34:9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses.

34:10 Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

34:11 who did all those miraculous signs and wonders the LORD sent him to do in Egypt--to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land.

Psalms 119 145-176.

119:145 I call with all my heart; answer me, O LORD, and I will obey your decrees.

119:146 I call out to you; save me and I will keep your statutes.

119:147 I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word.

119:148 My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises.

119:149 Hear my voice in accordance with your love; preserve my life, O LORD, according to your laws.

119:150 Those who devise wicked schemes are near, but they are far from your law.

119:151 Yet you are near, O LORD, and all your commands are true.

119:152 Long ago I learned from your statutes that you established them to last forever.

119:153 Look upon my suffering and deliver me, for I have not forgotten your law.

119:154 Defend my cause and redeem me; preserve my life according to your promise.

119:155 Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek out your decrees.

119:156 Your compassion is great, O LORD; preserve my life according to your laws.

119:157 Many are the foes who persecute me, but I have not turned from your statutes.

119:158 I look on the faithless with loathing, for they do not obey your word.

119:161 Rulers persecute me without cause, but my heart trembles at your word.

119:164 Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws.

119:165 Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.

119:166 I wait for your salvation, O LORD, and I follow your commands.

119:167 I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly.

119:168 I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you.

119:169 May my cry come before you, O LORD; give me understanding according to your word.

119:170 May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise.

119:171 May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your decrees.

119:172 May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous.

119:173 May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts.

119:174 I long for your salvation, O LORD, and your law is my delight.

119:175 Let me live that I may praise you, and may your laws sustain me.

119:176 I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands.

Isaiah 60.

60:1 "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.

60:2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.

60:3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.

60:4 "Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the arm.

60:5 Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.

60:6 Herds of camels will cover your land, young camels of Midian and Ephah. And all from Sheba will come, bearing gold and incense and proclaiming the praise of the LORD.

60:7 All Kedar's flocks will be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth will serve you; they will be accepted as offerings on my altar, and I will adorn my glorious temple.

60:8 "Who are these that fly along like clouds, like doves to their nests?

60:9 Surely the islands look to me; in the lead are the ships of Tarshish, bringing your sons from afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.

60:10 "Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Though in anger I struck you, in favor I will show you compassion.

60:11 Your gates will always stand open, they will never be shut, day or night, so that men may bring you the wealth of the nations--their kings led in triumphal procession.

60:12 For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined.

60:13 "The glory of Lebanon will come to you, the pine, the fir and the cypress together, to adorn the place of my sanctuary; and I will glorify the place of my feet.

60:14 The sons of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

60:15 "Although you have been forsaken and hated, with no one traveling through, I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations.

60:16 You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

60:17 Instead of bronze I will bring you gold, and silver in place of iron. Instead of wood I will bring you bronze, and iron in place of stones. I will make peace your governor and righteousness your ruler.

60:18 No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.

60:19 The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.

60:20 Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.

60:21 Then will all your people be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor.

60:22 The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly." ISA

Matthew 8.

8:1 When he came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him.

8:2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."

8:3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.

8:4 Then Jesus said to him, "See that you don't tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."

8:5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.

8:6 "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."

8:7 Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him."

8:8 The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

8:9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."

8:10 When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

8:11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

8:12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

8:13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour.

8:14 When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.

8:15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.

8:16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.

8:17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases."

8:18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.

8:19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."

8:20 Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

8:21 Another disciple said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."

8:22 But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."

8:23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.

8:24 Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.

8:25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"

8:26 He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

8:27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"

8:28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.

8:29 "What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?"

8:30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding.

8:31 The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs."

8:32 He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.

8:33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.

8:34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
