여호수아 5 장.

수5:1 요단 서쪽의 아모리 사람의 모든 왕들과 해변의 가나안 사람의 모든 왕들이 여호와께서 요단 물을 이스라엘 자손들 앞에서 말리시고 우리를 건너게 하셨음을 듣고 마음이 녹았고 이스라엘 자손들 때문에 정신을 잃었더라

수5:2 그 때에 여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르시되 너는 부싯돌로 칼을 만들어 이스라엘 자손들에게 다시 할례를 행하라 하시매

수5:3 여호수아가 부싯돌로 칼을 만들어 할례 산에서 이스라엘 자손들에게 할례를 행하니라

수5:4 여호수아가 할례를 시행한 까닭은 이것이니 애굽에서 나온 모든 백성 중 남자 곧 모든 군사는 애굽에서 나온 후 광야 길에서 죽었는데

수5:5 그 나온 백성은 다 할례를 받았으나 다만 애굽에서 나온 후 광야 길에서 난 자는 할례를 받지 못하였음이라

수5:6 이스라엘 자손들이 여호와의 음성을 청종하지 아니하므로 여호와께서 그들에게 대하여 맹세하사 그들의 조상들에게 맹세하여 우리에게 주리라고 하신 땅 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅을 그들이 보지 못하게 하리라 하시매 애굽에서 나온 족속 곧 군사들이 다 멸절하기까지 사십 년 동안을 광야에서 헤매었더니

수5:7 그들의 대를 잇게 하신 이 자손에게 여호수아가 할례를 행하였으니 길에서는 그들에게 할례를 행하지 못하였으므로 할례 없는 자가 되었음이었더라

수5:8 또 그 모든 백성에게 할례 행하기를 마치매 백성이 진중 각 처소에 머물며 낫기를 기다릴 때에

수5:9 여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르시되 내가 오늘 애굽의 수치를 너희에게서 떠나가게 하였다 하셨으므로 그 곳 이름을 오늘까지 길갈이라 하느니라

수5:10 또 이스라엘 자손들이 길갈에 진 쳤고 그 달 십사일 저녁에는 여리고 평지에서 유월절을 지켰으며

수5:11 유월절 이튿날에 그 땅의 소산물을 먹되 그 날에 무교병과 볶은 곡식을 먹었더라

수5:12 또 그 땅의 소산물을 먹은 다음날에 만나가 그쳤으니 이스라엘 사람들이 다시는 만나를 얻지 못하였고 그 해에 가나안 땅의 소출을 먹었더라

수5:13 여호수아가 여리고에 가까이 이르렀을 때에 눈을 들어 본즉 한 사람이 칼을 빼어 손에 들고 마주 서 있는지라 여호수아가 나아가서 그에게 묻되 너는 우리를 위하느냐 우리의 적들을 위하느냐 하니

수5:14 그가 이르되 아니라 나는 여호와의 군대 대장으로 지금 왔느니라 하는지라 여호수아가 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드려 절하고 그에게 이르되 내 주여 종에게 무슨 말씀을 하려 하시나이까

수5:15 여호와의 군대 대장이 여호수아에게 이르되 네 발에서 신을 벗으라 네가 선 곳은 거룩하니라 하니 여호수아가 그대로 행하니라

여호수아 6 장 1-5.

수6:1 이스라엘 자손들로 말미암아 여리고는 굳게 닫혔고 출입하는 자가 없더라

수6:2 여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르시되 보라 내가 여리고와 그 왕과 용사들을 네 손에 넘겨 주었으니

수6:3 너희 모든 군사는 그 성을 둘러 성 주위를 매일 한 번씩 돌되 엿새 동안을 그리하라

수6:4 제사장 일곱은 일곱 양각 나팔을 잡고 언약궤 앞에서 나아갈 것이요 일곱째 날에는 그 성을 일곱 번 돌며 그 제사장들은 나팔을 불 것이며

수6:5 제사장들이 양각 나팔을 길게 불어 그 나팔 소리가 너희에게 들릴 때에는 백성은 다 큰 소리로 외쳐 부를 것이라 그리하면 그 성벽이 무너져 내리리니 백성은 각기 앞으로 올라갈지니라 하시매

시편 132 장.

시132:1 여호와여 다윗을 위하여 그의 모든 겸손을 기억하소서

시132:2 그가 여호와의 맹세하며 야곱의 전능자에게 서원하기를

시132:3 내가 내 장막 집에 들어가지 아니 하며 내 침상에 오르지 아니하고

시132:4 내 눈으로 잠들게 하지 아니하며 내 눈꺼풀로 졸게 하지 아니하기를

시132:5 여호와의 처소 곧 야곱의 전능자의 성막을 발견하기까지 하리라 하였나이다

시132:6 우리가 그것이 에브라다에 있다 함을 들었더니 나무 밭에서 찾았도다

시132:7 우리가 그의 계신 곳으로 들어가서 그의 발등상 앞에서 엎드려 예배하리로다

시132:8 여호와여 일어나사 주의 권능의 궤와 함께 평안한 곳으로 들어가소서

시132:9 주의 제사장들은 의를 옷 입고 주의 성도들은 즐거이 외칠지어다

시132:10 주의 종 다윗을 위하여 주의 기름 부음 받은 자의 얼굴을 외면하지 마옵소서

시132:11 여호와께서 다윗에게 성실히 맹세하셨으니 변하지 아니하실지라 이르시기를 네 몸의 소생을 네 왕위에 둘지라

시132:12 네 자손이 내 언약과 그들에게 교훈하는 내 증거를 지킬진대 그들의 후손도 영원히 네 왕위에 앉으리라 하셨도다

시132:13 여호와께서 시온을 택하시고 자기 거처를 삼고자 하여 이르시기를

시132:14 이는 내가 영원히 쉴 곳이라 내가 여기 거주할 것은 이를 원하였음이로다

시132:15 내가 이 성의 식료품에 풍족히 복을 주고 떡으로 그 빈민을 만족하게 하리로다

시132:16 내가 그 제사장들에게 구원을 옷 입히리니 그 성도들은 즐거이 외치리로다

시132:17 내가 거기서 다윗에게 뿔이 나게 할 것이라 내가 내 기름 부음 받은 자를 위하여 등을 준비하였도다

시132:18 내가 그의 원수에게는 수치를 옷 입히고 그에게는 왕관이 빛나게 하리라 하셨도다

시편 133 장.

시133:1 보라 형제가 연합하여 동거함이 어찌 그리 선하고 아름다운고

시133:2 머리에 있는 보배로운 기름이 수염 곧 아론의 수염에 흘러서 그의 옷깃까지 내림 같고

시133:3 헐몬의 이슬이 시온의 산들에 내림 같도다 거기서 여호와께서 복을 명령하셨나니 곧 영생이로다

시편 134 장.

시134:1 보라 밤에 여호와의 성전에 서 있는 여호와의 모든 종들아 여호와를 송축하라

시134:2 성소를 향하여 너희 손을 들고 여호와를 송축하라

시134:3 천지를 지으신 여호와께서 시온에서 네게 복을 주실지어다

이사야 65 장.

사65:1 나는 나를 구하지 아니하던 자에게 물음을 받았으며 나를 찾지 아니하던 자에게 찾아냄이 되었으며 내 이름을 부르지 아니하던 나라에 내가 여기 있노라 내가 여기 있노라 하였노라

사65:2 내가 종일 손을 펴서 자기 생각을 따라 옳지 않은 길을 걸어가는 패역한 백성들을 불렀나니

사65:3 곧 동산에서 제사하며 벽돌 위에서 분향하여 내 앞에서 항상 내 노를 일으키는 백성이라

사65:4 그들이 무덤 사이에 앉으며 은밀한 처소에서 밤을 지내며 돼지 고기를 먹으며 가증한 것들의 국을 그릇에 담으면서

사65:5 사람에게 이르기를 너는 네 자리에 섰고 내게 가까이 하지 말라 나는 너보다 거룩함이라 하나니 이런 자들은 내 코의 연기요 종일 타는 불이로다

사65:6 보라 이것이 내 앞에 기록되었으니 내가 잠잠하지 아니하고 반드시 보응하되 그들의 품에 보응할지라

사65:7 너희의 죄악과 너희 조상들의 죄악은 한 가지니 그들이 산 위에서 분향하며 작은 산 위에서 나를 능욕하였음이라 그러므로 내가 먼저 그들의 행위를 헤아리고 그들의 품에 보응하리라 여호와가 말하였느니라

사65:8 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 포도송이에는 즙이 있으므로 사람들이 말하기를 그것을 상하지 말라 거기 복이 있느니라 하나니 나도 내 종들을 위하여 다 멸하지 아니하고

사65:9 내가 야곱에게서 씨를 내며 유다에게서 나의 산들을 기업으로 얻을 자를 내리니 내가 택한 자가 이를 기업으로 얻을 것이요 나의 종들이 거기서 살 것이라

사65:10 사론은 양 떼의 우리가 되겠고 아골 골짜기는 소 떼가 눕는 곳이 되어 나를 찾은 내 백성의 소유가 되려니와

사65:11 오직 나 여호와를 버리며 나의 성산을 잊고 갓에게 상을 베풀며 므니에게 섞은 술을 가득히 붓는 너희여

사65:12 내가 너희를 칼에 붙일 것인즉 다 구푸리고 죽임을 당하리니 이는 내가 불러도 너희가 대답지 아니하며 내가 말하여도 듣지 아니하고 나의 눈에 악을 행하였으며 내가 즐겨하지 아니하는 일을 택하였음이니라

사65:13 이러므로 주 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 보라 나의 종들은 먹을 것이로되 너희는 주릴 것이니라 보라 나의 종들은 마실 것이로되 너희는 갈할 것이라 보라 나의 종들은 기뻐할 것이로되 너희는 수치를 당할 것이라

사65:14 보라 나의 종들은 마음이 즐거우므로 노래할 것이로되 너희는 마음이 슬프므로 울며 심령이 상하므로 통곡할 것이며

사65:15 또 너희가 남겨 놓은 이름은 내가 택한 자의 저줏거리가 될 것이니라 주 여호와 내가 너를 죽이고 내 종들은 다른 이름으로 부르리라

사65:16 이러므로 땅에서 자기를 위하여 복을 구하는 자는 진리의 하나님을 향하여 복을 구할 것이요 땅에서 맹세하는 자는 진리의 하나님으로 맹세하리니 이는 이전 환난이 잊어졌고 내 눈 앞에 숨겨졌음이라

사65:17 보라 내가 새 하늘과 새 땅을 창조하나니 이전 것은 기억되거나 마음에 생각나지 아니할 것이라

사65:18 너희는 나의 창조하는 것으로 말미암아 영원히 기뻐하며 즐거워할지니라 보라 내가 예루살렘을 즐거운 성으로 창조하며 그 백성을 기쁨으로 삼고

사65:19 내가 예루살렘을 즐거워하며 나의 백성을 기뻐하리니 우는 소리와 부르짖는 소리가 그의 가운데서 다시는 들리지 아니할 것이며

사65:20 거기는 날 수가 많지 못하여 죽는 어린이와 수한이 차지 못한 노인이 다시는 없을 것이라 곧 백 세에 죽는 자을 젊은이라 하겠고 백 세가 못되어 죽는 자는 저주받은 것이리라

사65:21 그들이 가옥을 건축하고 그 안에 살겠고 포도나무를 심고 열매를 먹을 것이며

사65:22 그들의 건축한 데에 타인이 살지 아니할 것이며 그들이 심은 것을 타인이 먹지 아니하리니 이는 내 백성의 수한이 나무의 수한과 같겠고 내가 택한 자가 그 손으로 일한 것을 길이 누릴 것이며

사65:23 그들의 수고가 헛되지 않겠고 그들의 생산한 것이 재난을 당하지 아니하리니 그들은 여호와의 복된 자의 자손이요 그들의 후손도 그들과 같을 것임이라

사65:24 그들이 부르기 전에 내가 응답하겠고 그들이 말을 마치기 전에 내가 들을 것이며

사65:25 이리와 어린 양이 함께 먹을 것이며 사자가 소처럼 짚을 먹을 것이며 뱀은 흙을 양식으로 삼을 것이니 나의 성산에서는 해함도 없겠고 상함도 없으리라 여호와께서 말씀하시니라

마태복음 13 장.

마13:1 그 날 예수께서 집에서 나가사 바닷가에 앉으시매

마13:2 큰 무리가 그에게로 모여 들거늘 예수께서 배에 올라가 앉으시고 온 무리는 해변에 서 있더니

마13:3 예수께서 비유로 여러가지를 그들에게 말씀하여 이르시되 씨를 뿌리는 자가 뿌리러 나가서

마13:4 뿌릴새 더러는 길 가에 떨어지매 새들이 와서 먹어버렸고

마13:5 더러는 흙이 얕은 돌밭에 떨어지매 흙이 깊지 아니하므로 곧 싹이 나오나

마13:6 해가 돋은 후에 타서 뿌리가 없으므로 말랐고

마13:7 더러는 가시떨기 위에 떨어지매 가시가 자라서 기운을 막았고

마13:8 더러는 좋은 땅에 떨어지매 어떤 것은 백 배, 어떤 것은 육십 배, 어떤 것은 삼십 배의 결실을 하였느니라

마13:9 귀 있는 자는 들으라 하시니라

마13:10 제자들이 예수께 나아와 이르되 어찌하여 그들에게 비유로 말씀하시나이까

마13:11 대답하여 이르시되 천국의 비밀을 아는 것이 너희에게는 허락되었으나 그들에게는 아니되었나니

마13:12 무릇 있는 자는 받아 넉넉하게 되되 무릇 없는 자는 그 있는 것도 빼앗기리라

마13:13 그러므로 내가 그들에게 비유로 말하기는 그들이 보아도 보지 못하며 들어도 듣지 못하며 깨닫지 못함이니라

마13:14 이사야의 예언이 그들에게 이루었으니 일렀으되 너희가 듣기는 들어도 깨닫지 못할 것이요 보기는 보아도 알지 못하리라

마13:15 이 백성들의 마음이 완악하여져서 그 귀는 듣기에 둔하고 눈은 감았으니 이는 눈으로 보고 귀로 듣고 마음으로 깨달아 돌이켜 내게 고침을 받을까 두려워함이라 하였느니라

마13:16 그러나 너희 눈은 봄으로, 너희 귀는 들음으로 복이 있도다

마13:17 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 많은 선지자와 의인이 너희가 보는 것들을 보고자 하여도 보지 못하였고 너희가 듣는 것들을 듣고자 하여도 듣지 못하였느니라

마13:18 그런즉 씨 뿌리는 비유를 들으라

마13:19 아무나 천국 말씀을 듣고 깨닫지 못할 때는 악한 자가 와서 그 마음에 뿌려진 것을 빼앗나니 이는 곧 길 가에 뿌려진 자요

마13:20 돌밭에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 듣고 즉시 기쁨으로 받되

마13:21 그 속에 뿌리가 없어 잠시 견디다가 말씀으로 말미암아 환난이나 박해가 일어날 때에는 곧 넘어지는 자요

마13:22 가시 떨기에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 들으나 세상의 염려와 재물의 유혹에 말씀이 막혀 결실하지 못하는 자요

마13:23 좋은 땅에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 듣고 깨닫는 자니 결실하여 어떤 것은 백 배, 어떤 것은 육십 배, 어떤 것은 삼십 배가 되느니라 하시더라

마13:24 예수께서 그들 앞에 또 비유를 들어 이르시되 천국은 좋은 씨를 제 밭에 뿌린 사람과 같으니

마13:25 사람들이 잘 때에 그 원수가 와서 곡식 가운데 가라지를 덧뿌리고 갔더니

마13:26 싹이 나고 결실할 때에 가라지도 보이거늘

마13:27 집 주인의 종들이 와서 말하되 주여 밭에 좋은 씨를 뿌리지 아니하였나이까 그런데 가라지가 어디서 생겼나이까

마13:28 주인이 이르되 원수가 이렇게 하였구나 종들이 말하되 그러면 우리가 가서 이것을 뽑기를 원하시나이까

마13:29 주인이 이르되 가만 두라 가라지를 뽑다가 곡식까지 뽑을까 염려 하노라

마13:30 둘 다 추수 때까지 함께 자라게 두라 추수 때에 내가 추수꾼들에게 말하기를 가라지는 먼저 거두어 불사르게 단으로 묶고 곡식은 모아 내 곳간에 넣으라 하리라

마13:31 또 비유를 들어 이르시되 천국은 마치 사람이 자기 밭에 갖다 심은 겨자씨 한 알 같으니

마13:32 이는 모든 씨보다 작은 것이로되 자란 후에는 풀보다 커서 나무가 되매 공중의 새들이 와서 그 가지에 깃들이느니라

마13:33 또 비유로 말씀하시되 천국은 마치 여자가 가루 서 말 속에 갖다 넣어 전부 부풀게 한 누룩과 같으니라

마13:34 예수께서 이 모든 것을 무리에게 비유로 말씀하시고 비유가 아니면 아무 것도 말씀하지 아니하셨으니

마13:35 이는 선지자를 통하여 말씀하신 바 내가 입을 열어 비유로 말하고 창세부터 감추인 것들을 드러내리라 함을 이루려 하심이니라

마13:36 이에 예수께서 무리를 떠나사 집에 들어가시니 제자들이 나아와 이르되 밭의 가라지의 비유를 우리에게 설명하여 주소서

마13:37 대답하여 이르시되 좋은 씨를 뿌리는 이는 인자요

마13:38 밭은 세상이요 좋은 씨는 천국의 아들들이요 가라지는 악한 자의 아들들이요

마13:39 가라지를 뿌린 원수는 마귀요 추수 때는 세상 끝이요 추수꾼은 천사들이니

마13:40 그런즉 가라지를 거두어 불에 사르는 것같이 세상 끝에도 그러하리라

마13:41 인자가 그 천사들을 보내리니 그들이 그 나라에서 모든 넘어지게 하는 것과 또 불법을 행하는 자들을 거두어 내어

마13:42 풀무 불에 던져 넣으리니 거기서 울며 이를 갈게 되리라

마13:43 그 때에 의인들은 자기 아버지 나라에서 해와 같이 빛나리라 귀 있는 자는 들으라

마13:44 천국은 마치 밭에 감추인 보화와 같으니 사람이 이를 발견한 후 숨겨 두고 기뻐하며 돌아가서 자기의 소유를 다 팔아 그 밭을 사느니라

마13:45 또 천국은 마치 좋은 진주를 구하는 장사와 같으니

마13:46 극히 값진 진주 하나를 발견하매 가서 자기의 소유를 다 팔아 그 진주를 사느니라

마13:47 또 천국은 마치 바다에 치고 각종 물고기를 모는 그물과 같으니

마13:48 그물에 가득하매 물 가로 끌어 내고 앉아서 좋은 것은 그릇에 담고 못된 것은 내버리느니라

마13:49 세상 끝에도 이러하리라 천사들이 와서 의인 중에서 악인을 갈라 내어

마13:50 풀무 불에 던져 넣으리니 거기서 울며 이를 갈리라

마13:51 이 모든 것을 깨달았느냐 하시니 대답하되 그러하오이다

마13:52 예수께서 이르시되 그러므로 천국의 제자된 서기관마다 마치 새것과 옛것을 그 곳간에서 내오는 집주인과 같으니라

마13:53 예수께서 이 모든 비유를 마치신 후에 그 곳을 떠나서

마13:54 고향으로 돌아가사 그들의 회당에서 가르치시니 그들이 놀라 이르되 이 사람의 이 지혜와 이런 능력이 어디서 났느냐

마13:55 이는 그 목수의 아들이 아니냐 그 어머니는 마리아, 그 형제들은 야고보, 요셉, 시몬, 유다라 하지 않느냐

마13:56 그 누이들은 다 우리와 함께 있지 아니하냐 그런즉 이 사람의 이 모든 것이 어디서 났느냐 하고

마13:57 예수를 배척한지라 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하시되 선지자가 자기 고향과 자기 집 외에서는 존경을 받지 않음이 없느니라 하시고

마13:58 그들이 믿지 않음으로 말미암아 거기서 많은 능력을 행하지 아니하시니라

Joshua 5.

5:1 Now when all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings along the coast heard how the LORD had dried up the Jordan before the Israelites until we had crossed over, their hearts melted and they no longer had the courage to face the Israelites.

5:2 At that time the LORD said to Joshua, "Make flint knives and circumcise the Israelites again."

5:3 So Joshua made flint knives and circumcised the Israelites at Gibeath Haaraloth.

5:4 Now this is why he did so: All those who came out of Egypt--all the men of military age--died in the desert on the way after leaving Egypt.

5:5 All the people that came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the desert during the journey from Egypt had not.

5:6 The Israelites had moved about in the desert forty years until all the men who were of military age when they left Egypt had died, since they had not obeyed the LORD. For the LORD had sworn to them that they would not see the land that he had solemnly promised their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

5:7 So he raised up their sons in their place, and these were the ones Joshua circumcised. They were still uncircumcised because they had not been circumcised on the way.

5:8 And after the whole nation had been circumcised, they remained where they were in camp until they were healed.

5:9 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." So the place has been called Gilgal to this day.

5:10 On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover.

5:11 The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain.

5:12 The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate of the produce of Canaan.

5:13 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?"

5:14 "Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, "What message does my Lord have for his servant?"

5:15 The commander of the LORD'S army replied, "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy." And Joshua did so.

Joshua 6 1-5.

6:1 Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in.

6:2 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.

6:3 March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days.

6:4 Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets.

6:5 When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in."

Psalms 132.

132:1 O LORD, remember David and all the hardships he endured.

132:2 He swore an oath to the LORD and made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:

132:3 "I will not enter my house or go to my bed--

132:4 I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids,

132:5 till I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."

132:6 We heard it in Ephrathah, we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:

132:7 "Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool--

132:8 arise, O LORD, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.

132:9 May your priests be clothed with righteousness; may your saints sing for joy."

132:10 For the sake of David your servant, do not reject your anointed one.

132:11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath that he will not revoke: "One of your own descendants I will place on your throne--

132:12 if your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever."

132:13 For the LORD has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling:

132:14 "This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it--

132:15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food.

132:16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy.

132:17 "Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one.

132:18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown on his head will be resplendent."

Psalms 133.

133:1 How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!

133:2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes.

133:3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

Psalms 134.

134:1 Praise the LORD, all you servants of the LORD who minister by night in the house of the LORD.

134:2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD.

134:3 May the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion.

Isaiah 65.

65:1 "I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here am I.'

65:2 All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations--

65:3 a people who continually provoke me to my very face, offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick;

65:4 who sit among the graves and spend their nights keeping secret vigil; who eat the flesh of pigs, and whose pots hold broth of unclean meat;

65:5 who say, 'Keep away; don't come near me, for I am too sacred for you!' Such people are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that keeps burning all day.

65:6 "See, it stands written before me: I will not keep silent but will pay back in full; I will pay it back into their laps--

65:7 both your sins and the sins of your fathers," says the LORD. "Because they burned sacrifices on the mountains and defied me on the hills, I will measure into their laps the full payment for their former deeds."

65:8 This is what the LORD says: "As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes and men say, 'Don't destroy it, there is yet some good in it,' so will I do in behalf of my servants; I will not destroy them all.

65:9 I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah those who will possess my mountains; my chosen people will inherit them, and there will my servants live.

65:10 Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for my people who seek me.

65:11 "But as for you who forsake the LORD and forget my holy mountain, who spread a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny,

65:12 I will destine you for the sword, and you will all bend down for the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."

65:13 Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame.

65:14 My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.

65:15 You will leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse; the Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.

65:16 Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth; he who takes an oath in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.

65:17 "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.

65:18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy.

65:19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.

65:20 "Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed.

65:21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

65:22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.

65:23 They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them.

65:24 Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.

65:25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the LORD.

Matthew 13.

13:1 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake.

13:2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore.

13:3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: "A farmer went out to sow his seed.

13:4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.

13:5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.

13:6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.

13:7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.

13:8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop--a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

13:9 He who has ears, let him hear."

13:10 The disciples came to him and asked, "Why do you speak to the people in parables?"

13:11 He replied, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.

13:12 Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

13:13 This is why I speak to them in parables: "Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

13:14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: "'You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

13:15 For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.'

13:16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.

13:17 For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

13:18 "Listen then to what the parable of the sower means:

13:19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

13:20 The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy.

13:21 But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.

13:22 The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.

13:23 But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown."

13:24 Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.

13:25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.

13:26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

13:27 "The owner's servants came to him and said, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?'

13:28 "'An enemy did this,' he replied. "The servants asked him, 'Do you want us to go and pull them up?'

13:29 "'No,' he answered, 'because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them.

13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.'"

13:31 He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.

13:32 Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches."

13:33 He told them still another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough."

13:34 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable.

13:35 So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: "I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world."

13:36 Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field."

13:37 He answered, "The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man.

13:38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one,

13:39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

13:40 "As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age.

13:41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.

13:42 They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13:43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

13:45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.

13:46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

13:47 "Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish.

13:48 When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away.

13:49 This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous

13:50 and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13:51 "Have you understood all these things?" Jesus asked. "Yes," they replied.

13:52 He said to them, "Therefore every teacher of the law who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old."

13:53 When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there.

13:54 Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. "Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?" they asked.

13:55 "Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?

13:56 Aren't all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?"

13:57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor."

13:58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.
