여호수아 10 장.
수10:1  그 때에 여호수아가 아이를 빼앗아 진멸하되 여리고와 그 왕에게 행한 것 같이 아이와 그 왕에게 행한 것과 또 기브온 주민이 이스라엘과 화친하여 그 중에 있다 함을 예루살렘 왕 아도니세덱이 듣고
수10:2  크게 두려워하였으니 이는 기브온은 왕도와 같은 큰 성임이요 아이보다 크고 그 사람들은 다 강함이라
수10:3  예루살렘 왕 아도니세덱이 헤브론 왕 호함과 야르뭇 왕 비람과 라기스왕 야비아와 에글론 왕 드빌에게 보내어 이르되
수10:4  내게로 올라와 나를 도우라 우리가 기브온을 치자 이는 기브온이 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손과 더불어 화친하였음이니라 하매
수10:5  아모리 족속의 다섯 왕들 곧 예루살렘 왕과 헤브론 왕과 야르뭇 왕과 라기스 왕과 에글론 왕이 함께 모여 자기들의 모든 군대를 거느리고 올라와 기브온에 대진하고 싸우니라
수10:6  기브온 사람들이 길갈 진영에 사람을 보내어 여호수아에게 전하되 당신의 종들 돕기를 더디게 하지 마시고 속히 우리에게 올라와 우리를 구하소서 산지에 거주하는 아모리 사람의 왕들이 다 모여 우리를 치나이다 하매
수10:7  여호수아가 모든 군사와 용사와 더불어 길갈에서 올라가니라
수10:8  그 때에 여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르시되 그들을 두려워하지 말라 내가 그들을 네 손에 넘겨주었으니 그들 중에서 한 사람도 너를 당할 자 없으리라 하신지라
수10:9  여호수아가 길갈에서 밤새도록 올라가 갑자기 그들에게 이르니
수10:10  여호와께서 그들을 이스라엘 앞에서 패하게 하시므로 여호수아가 그들을 기브온에서 크게 살륙하고 벧 호론에 올라가는 비탈에서 추격하여 아세가와 막게다까지 이르니라
수10:11  그들이 이스라엘 앞에서 도망하여 벧 호론의 비탈에서 내려갈 때에 여호와께서 하늘에서 큰 우박 덩이를 아세가에 이르기까지 내리시매 그들이 죽었으니 이스라엘 자손의 칼에 죽은 자보다 우박에 죽은 자가 더 많았더라
수10:12  여호와께서 아모리 사람을 이스라엘 자손에게 넘겨주시던 날에 여호수아가 여호와께 아뢰어 이스라엘의 목전에서 이르되 태양아 너는 기브온 위에 머무르라 달아 너도 아얄론 골 짜기에서 그리할지어다 하매
수10:13  태양이 머물고 달이 멈추기를 백성이 그 대적에게 원수를 갚기까지 하였느니라 야살의 책에 태양이 중천에 머물러서 거의 종일토록 속히 내려가지 아니하였다고 기록되지 아니하였느냐
수10:14  여호와께서 사람의 목소리를 들으신 이같은 날은 전에도 없었고 후에도 없었나니 이는 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위하여 싸우셨음이니라
수10:15  여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 더불어 길갈 진영으로 돌아왔더라
수10:16  그 다섯 왕들이 도망하여 막게다의 굴에 숨었더니
수10:17  어떤 사람이 여호수아에게 고하여 이르되 막게다의 굴에 그 다섯 왕들이 숨은 것을 발견하였나이다 하니
수10:18  여호수아가 이르되 굴 어귀에 큰 돌을 굴려 막고 사람을 그 곁에 두어 그들을 지키게 하고
수10:19  너희는 지체하지 말고 너희 대적의 뒤를 따라가 그 후군을 쳐서 그들이 자기들의 성읍에 들어가지 못하게 하라 너희 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 너희 손에 넘겨주셨느니라 하고
수10:20  여호수아와 이스라엘 자손이 그들을 크게 살륙하여 거의 멸하였고 그 남은 몇 사람은 견고한 성들로 들어간 고로
수10:21  모든 백성이 평안히 막게다 진영으로 돌아와 여호수아에게 이르렀더니 혀를 놀려 이스라엘 자손을 대적하는 자가 없었더라
수10:22  그 때에 여호수아가 이르되 굴 어귀를 열고 그 굴에서 그 다섯 왕들을 내게로 끌어내라 하매
수10:23  그들이 그대로 하여 그 다섯 왕들 곧 예루살렘 왕과 헤브론 왕과 야르뭇 왕과 라기스왕과 에글론 왕을 굴에서 그에게로 끌어내니라
수10:24  그 왕들을 여호수아에게로 끌어내매 여호수아가 이스라엘 모든 사람을 부르고 자기와 함께 갔던 지휘관들에게 이르되 가까이 와서 이 왕들의 목을 발로 밟으라 하매 그들이 가까이 가서 그들의 목을 밟으매
수10:25  여호수아가 그들에게 이르되 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말고 강하고 담대하라 너희가 맞서서 싸우는 모든 대적에게 여호와께서 다 이와 같이 하시리라 하고
수10:26  그 후에 여호수아가 그 왕들을 쳐죽여 다섯 나무에 매달고 저녁까지 나무에 달린 채로 두었다가
수10:27  해 질 때에 여호수아가 명령하매 그들의 시체를 나무에서 내려 그들이 숨었던 굴 안에 던지고 굴 어귀를 큰돌로 막았더니 오늘까지 그대로 있더라
수10:28  그 날에 여호수아가 막게다를 취하고 칼날로 그 성읍과 왕을 쳐서 그 성읍과 그 중에 있는 모든 사람을 진멸하여 바치고 한 사람도 남기지 아니하였으니 막게다 왕에게 행한 것이 여리고 왕에게 행한 것과 같았더라
수10:29  여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 더불어 막게다에서 립나로 나아가서 립나와 싸우매
수10:30  여호와께서 또 그 성읍과 그 왕을 이스라엘의 손에 붙이신지라 칼날로 그 성읍과 그 중의 모든 사람을 쳐서 멸하여 한 사람도 남기지 아니하였으니 그 왕에게 행한 것이 여리고 왕에게 행한 것과 같았더라
수10:31  여호수아가 또 온 이스라엘과 더불어 립나에서 라기스로 나아가서 대진하고 싸우더니
수10:32  여호와께서 라기스를 이스라엘의 손에 넘겨 주신지라 이튿날에 그 성읍을 점령하고 칼날로 그것과 그 안의 모든 사람을 쳐서 멸하였으니 립나에 행한 것과 같았더라
수10:33  그 때에 게셀 왕 호람이 라기스를 도우려고 올라오므로 여호수아가 그와 그의 백성을 쳐서 한 사람도 남기지 아니하였더라
수10:34  여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 더불어 라기스에서 에글론으로 나아가서 대진하고 싸워
수10:35  그 날에 그 성읍을 취하고 칼날로 그것을 쳐서 그 중에 있는 모든 사람을 당일에 진멸하여 바쳤으니 라기스에 행한 것과 같았더라
수10:36  여호수아가 또 온 이스라엘과 더불어 에글론에서 헤브론으로 올라가서 싸워
수10:37  그 성읍을 점령하고 그것과 그 왕과 그 속한 성읍들과 그 중의 모든 사람을 칼날로 쳐서 하나도 남기지 아니하였으니 그 성읍들과 그 중의 모든 사람을 진멸하여 바친 것이 에글론에 행한 것과 같았더라
수10:38  여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 더불어 돌아와서 드빌에 이르러 싸워
수10:39  그 성읍과 그 왕과 그 속한 성읍들을 점령하고 칼날로 그 성읍을 쳐서 그 안의 모든 사람을 진멸하여 바치고 하나도 남기지 아니하였으니 드빌과 그 왕에게 행한 것이 헤브론에 행한 것과 같았으며 립나와 그 왕에게 행한 것과 같았더라
수10:40  이와 같이 여호수아가 그 온 땅 곧 산지와 네겝과 평지와 경사지와 그 모든 왕을 쳐서 하나도 남기지 아니하고 호흡이 있는 모든 자는 다 진멸하여 바쳤으니 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 명령하신 것과 같았더라
수10:41  여호수아가 또 가데스 바네아에서 가사까지와 온 고센 땅을 기브온에 이르기까지 치매
수10:42  이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위하여 싸우셨으므로 여호수아가 이 모든 왕들과 그들의 땅을 단번에 빼앗으니라
수10:43  여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 더불어 길갈 진영으로 돌아왔더라
시편 142 장.
시142:1  내가 소리 내어 여호와께 부르짖으며 소리 내어 여호와께 간구하는도다
시142:2  내가 내 원통함을 그의 앞에 토로하며 내 우환을 그의 앞에 진술하는도다
시142:3  내 영이 내 속에서 상할 때에도 주께서 내 길을 아셨나이다 내가 가는 길에 그들이 나를 잡으려고 올무를 숨겼나이다
시142:4  오른쪽을 살펴 보소서 나를 아는 이도 없고 나의 피난처도 없고 내 영혼을 돌보는 이도 없나이다
시142:5  여호와여 내가 주께 부르짖어 말하기를 주는 나의 피난처시요 살아 있는 사람들의 땅에서 나의 분깃이시라 하였나이다
시142:6  나의 부르짖음을 들으소서 나는 심히 비천하니이다 나를 핍박하는 자들에게서 나를 건지소서 그들은 나보다 강하니이다
시142:7  내 영혼을 옥에서 이끌어 내사 주의 이름을 감사하게 하소서 주께서 나에게 갚아 주시리니 의인들이 나를 두르리이다
시편 143 장.
시143:1  여호와여 내 기도를 들으시며 내 간구에 귀를 기울이시고 주의 진실과 공의로 내게 응답하소서
시143:2  주의 종에게 심판을 행하지 마소서 주의 눈 앞에는 의로운 인생이 하나도 없나이다
시143:3  원수가 내 영혼을 핍박하며 내 생명을 땅에 엎어서 나로 죽은 지 오랜 자 같이 나를 암흑 속에 두셨나이다
시143:4  그러므로 내 심령이 속에서 상하며 내 마음이 내 속에서 참담하니이다
시143:5  내가 옛날을 기억하고 주의 모든 행하신 것을 읊조리며 주의 손이 행하는 일을 생각하고
시143:6  주를 향하여 손을 펴고 내 영혼이 마른 땅 같이 주를 사모하나이다 (셀라)
시143:7  여호와여 속히 내게 응답하소서 내 영이 피곤하니이다 주의 얼굴을 내게서 숨기지 마소서 내가 무덤에 내려가는 자 같을까 두려워하나이다
시143:8  아침에 나로 하여금 주의 인자한 말씀을 듣게 하소서 내가 주를 의뢰함이니이다 내가 다닐 길을 알게 하소서 내가 내 영혼을 주께 드림이니이다
시143:9  여호와여 나를 내 원수들에게서 건지소서 내가 주께 피하여 숨었나이다
시143:10  주는 나의 하나님이시니 나를 가르쳐 주의 뜻을 행하게 하소서 주의 영은 선하시니 나를 공평한 땅에 인도하소서
시143:11  여호와여 주의 이름을 위하여 나를 살리시고 주의 공의로 내 영혼을 환난에서 끌어내소서
시143:12  주의 인자하심으로 나의 원수들을 끊으시고 내 영혼을 괴롭게 하는 자를 다 멸하소서 나는 주의 종이니이다
예레미야 4 장.
렘4:1  여호와께서 이르시되 이스라엘아 네가 돌아오려거든 내게 또 돌아오라 네가 만일 나의 목 전에서 가증한 것을 버리고 네가 흔들리지 아니하며
렘4:2  진실과 정의와 공의로 여호와의 삶을 두고 맹세하면 나라들이 나로 말미암아 스스로 복을 빌며 나로 말미암아 자랑하리라
렘4:3  여호와께서 유다와 예루살렘 사람에게 이와 같이 이르노라 너희 묵은 땅을 갈고 가시덤불에 파종하지 말라
렘4:4  유다인과 예루살렘 주민들아 너희는 스스로 할례를 행하여 너희 마음 가죽을 베고 나 여호와께 속하라 그리하지 아니하면 너희 악행으로 말미암아 나의 분노가 불 같이 일어나 사르리니 그것을 끌 자가 없으리라
렘4:5  너희는 유다에 선포하며 예루살렘에 공포하여 이르기를 이 땅에서 나팔을 불라 하며 또 크게 외쳐 이르기를 너희는 모이라 우리가 견고한 성으로 들어가자 하고
렘4:6  시온을 향하여 깃발을 세우라, 도피하라, 지체하지 말라, 내가 북방에서 재난과 큰 멸망을 가져오리라
렘4:7  사자가 그 수풀에서 올라왔으며 나라들을 멸하는 자가 나아 왔으되 네 땅을 황폐하게 하려고 이미 그의 처소를 떠났은즉 네 성읍들이 황폐하여 주민이 없게 되리니
렘4:8  이로 말미암아 너희는 굵은 베를 두르고 애곡하라 이는 여호와의 맹렬한 노가 아직 너희에게서 돌이키지 아니하였음이라
렘4:9  여호와의 말씀이니라 그 날에 왕과 지도자들은 낙심할 것이며 제사장들은 놀랄 것이며 선지자들은 깜짝 놀라리라
렘4:10  내가 이르되 슬프도소이다 주 여호와여 주께서 진실로 이 백성과 예루살렘을 크게 속이셨나이다 이르시기를 너희에게 평강이 있으리라 하시더니 칼이 생명에 이르렀나이다
렘4:11  그 때에 이 백성과 예루살렘에 전할 자가 있어서 뜨거운 바람이 광야에 있는 헐벗은 산에서 내 딸 백성에게 불어온다 하리라 이는 키질하기 위함도 아니요 정결하게 하려 함도 아니며
렘4:12  이보다 더 강한 바람이 나를 위하여 오리니 이제 내가 그들에게 심판을 행할 것이라
렘4:13  보라 그가 구름 같이 올라오나니 그의 병거는 회오리바람 같고 그의 말들은 독수리보다 빠르도다 우리에게 화 있도다 우리는 멸망하도다 하리라
렘4:14  예루살렘아 네 마음의 악을 씻어 버리라 그리하면 구원을 얻으리라 네 악한 생각이 네 속에 얼마나 오래 머물겠느냐
렘4:15  단에서 소리를 선포하며 에브라임 산에서 재앙을 공포하는도다
렘4:16  너희는 여러 나라에 전하며 또 예루살렘에 알리기를 에워싸고 치는 자들이 먼 땅에서부터 와서 유다 성읍들을 향하여 소리를 지른다 하라
렘4:17  그들이 밭을 지키는 자 같이 예루살렘을 에워싸나니 이는 그가 나를 거역했기 때문이니라 여호와의 말씀이니라
렘4:18  네 길과 행위가 이 일들을 부르게 하였나니 이는 네가 악함이라 그 고통이 네 마음에까지 미치느니라
렘4:19  슬프고 아프다 내 마음속이 아프고 내 마음이 답답하여 잠잠할 수 없으니 이는 나의 심령이 나팔 소리와 전쟁의 경보를 들음이로다
렘4:20  패망에 패망이 연속하여 온 땅이 탈취를 당하니 나의 장막과 휘장은 갑자기 파멸되도다
렘4:21  내가 저 깃발을 보며 나팔 소리 듣기를 어느 때까지 할꼬
렘4:22  내 백성은 나를 알지 못하는 어리석은 자요 지각이 없는 미련한 자식이라 악을 행하기에는 지각이 있으나 선을 행하기에는 무지하도다
렘4:23  보라 내가 땅을 본즉 혼돈하고 공허하며 하늘에는 빛이 없으며
렘4:24  내가 산들을 본즉 다 진동하며 작은 산들도 요동하며
렘4:25  내가 본즉 사람이 없으며 공중의 새가 다 날아갔으며
렘4:26  보라 내가 본즉 좋은 땅이 황무지가 되었으며 그 모든 성읍이 여호와의 앞 그의 맹렬한 진노 앞에 무너졌으니
렘4:27  여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시길 이 온 땅이 황폐할 것이나 내가 진멸하지는 아니할 것이며
렘4:28  이로 말미암아 땅이 슬퍼할 것이며 위의 하늘이 어두울 것이라 내가 이미 말하였으며 작정하였고 후회하지 아니하였은즉 또한 거기서 돌이키지 아니하리라 하셨음이로다
렘4:29  기병과 활 쏘는 자의 함성으로 말미암아 모든 성읍 사람이 도망하여 수풀에 들어가고 바위에 기어오르며 각 성읍이 버림을 당하여 거기 사는 사람이 없나니
렘4:30  멸망을 당한 자여 네가 어떻게 하려느냐 네가 붉은 옷을 입고 금장식으로 단장하고 눈을 그려 꾸밀지라도 네가 화장한 것이 헛된 일이라 연인들이 너를 멸시하여 네 생명을 찾느니라
렘4:31  내가 소리를 들은즉 여인의 해산하는 소리 같고 초산하는 자의 고통하는 소리 같으니 이는 시온의 딸의 소리라 그가 헐떡이며 그의 손을 펴고 이르기를 내게 화가 있도다 죽이는 자로 말미암아 나의 심령이 피곤하도다 하는도다
마태복음 18 장.
마18:1  그 때에 제자들이 예수께 나아와 이르되 천국에서는 누가 크니이까
마18:2  예수께서 한 어린 아이를 불러 그들 가운데 세우시고
마18:3  이르시되 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희가 돌이켜 어린 아이들과 같이 되지 아니하면 결단코 천국에 들어가지 못하리라
마18:4  그러므로 누구든지 이 어린 아이와 같이 자기를 낮추는 사람이 천국에서 큰 자니라
마18:5  또 누구든지 내 이름으로 이런 어린 아이 하나를 영접하면 곧 나를 영접함이니
마18:6  누구든지 나를 믿는 이 작은 자 중 하나를 실족하게 하면 차라리 연자 맷돌이 그 목에 달려서 깊은 바다에 빠뜨려지는 것이 나으리라
마18:7  실족하게 하는 일들이 있음으로 말미암아 세상에 화가 있도다 실족하게 하는 일이 없을 수는 없으나 실족하게 하는 그 사람에게는 화가 있도다
마18:8  만일 네 손이나 네 발이 너를 범죄하게 하거든 찍어 내버리라 장애인이나 다리 저는 자로 영생에 들어가는 것이 두 손과 두 발을 가지고 영원한 불에 던져지는 것보다 나으니라
마18:9  만일 네 눈이 너를 범죄하게 하거든 빼어 내버리라 한 눈으로 영생에 들어가는 것이 두 눈을 가지고 지옥 불에 던져지는 것보다 나으니라
마18:10  삼가 이 작은 자 중의 하나도 업신 여기지 말라 너희에게 말하노니 그들의 천사들이 하늘에서 하늘에 계신 내 아버지의 얼굴을 항상 뵈옵느니라
마18:11  (없 음)
마18:12  너희 생각에는 어떠하냐 만일 어떤 사람이 양 백 마리가 있는데 그 중의 하나가 길을 잃었으면 그 아흔아홉 마리를 산에 두고 가서 길 잃은 양을 찾지 않겠느냐
마18:13  진실로 너희에게 이르노니 만일 찾으면 길을 잃지 아니한 아흔아홉 마리보다 이것을 더 기뻐하리라
마18:14  이와 같이 이 작은 자 중의 하나라도 잃는 것은 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 뜻이 아니니라
마18:15  네 형제가 죄를 범하거든 가서 너와 그 사람과만 상대하여 권고하라 만일 들으면 네가 네 형제를 얻은 것이요
마18:16  만일 듣지 않거든 한두 사람을 데리고 가서 두세 증인의 입으로 말마다 확증하게 하라
마18:17  만일 그들의 말도 듣지 않거든 교회에 말하고 교회의 말도 듣지 않거든 이방인과 세리와 같이 여기라
마18:18  진실로 너희에게 이르노니 무엇이든지 너희가 땅에서 매면 하늘에서도 매일 것이요 무엇이든지 땅에서 풀면 하늘에서도 풀리리라
마18:19  진실로 다시 너희에게 이르노니 너희 중의 두 사람이 땅에서 합심하여 무엇이든지 구하면 하늘에 계신 내 아버지께서 그들을 위하여 이루게 하시리라
마18:20  두세 사람이 내 이름으로 모인 곳에는 나도 그들 중에 있느니라
마18:21  그 때에 베드로가 나아와 이르되 주여 형제가 내게 죄를 범하면 몇 번이나 용서하여 주리이까 일곱 번까지 하오리이까
마18:22  예수께서 이르시되 네게 이르노니 일곱 번뿐 아니라 일곱 번을 일흔 번까지라도 할지니라
마18:23  그러므로 천국은 그 종들과 결산하려 하던 어떤 임금과 같으니
마18:24  결산할 때에 만 달란트 빚진 자 하나를 데려오매
마18:25  갚을 것이 없는지라 주인이 명하여 그 몸과 아내와 자식들과 모든 소유를 다 팔아 갚게 하라 하니
마18:26  그 종이 엎드려 절하며 이르되 내게 참으소서 다 갚으리이다 하거늘
마18:27  그 종의 주인이 불쌍히 여겨 놓아 보내며 그 빚을 탕감하여 주었더니
마18:28  그 종이 나가서 자기에게 백 데나리온 빚진 동료 한 사람을 만나 붙들어 목을 잡고 이르되 빚을 갚으라 하매
마18:29  그 동료가 엎드려 간구하여 이르되 나에게 참아 주소서 갚으리이다 하되
마18:30  허락하지 아니하고 이에 가서 그가 빚을 갚도록 옥에 가두거늘
마18:31  그 동료들이 그것을 보고 몹시 딱하게 여겨 주인에게 가서 그 일을 다 알리니
마18:32  이에 주인이 그를 불러다가 말하되 악한 종아 네가 빌기에 내가 네 빚을 전부 탕감하여 주었거늘
마18:33  내가 너를 불쌍히 여김과 같이 너도 네 동료를 불쌍히 여김이 마땅하지 아니하냐 하고
마18:34  주인이 노하여 그 빚을 다 갚도록 저를 옥졸들에게 넘기니라
마18:35  너희가 각각 마음으로부터 형제를 용서하지 아니하면 나의 하늘 아버지께서도 너희에게 이와 같이 하시리라

Joshua 10.
10:1 Now Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Ai and totally destroyed it, doing to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king, and that the people of Gibeon had made a treaty of peace with Israel and were living near them.
10:2 He and his people were very much alarmed at this, because Gibeon was an important city, like one of the royal cities; it was larger than Ai, and all its men were good fighters.
10:3 So Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem appealed to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish and Debir king of Eglon.
10:4 "Come up and help me attack Gibeon," he said, "because it has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites."
10:5 Then the five kings of the Amorites--the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon--joined forces. They moved up with all their troops and took up positions against Gibeon and attacked it.
10:6 The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: "Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all the Amorite kings from the hill country have joined forces against us."
10:7 So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army, including all the best fighting men.
10:8 The LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you."
10:9 After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise.
10:10 The LORD threw them into confusion before Israel, who defeated them in a great victory at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah.
10:11 As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the LORD hurled large hailstones down on them from the sky, and more of them died from the hailstones than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.
10:12 On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: "O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon."
10:13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.
10:14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a man. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!
10:15 Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.
10:16 Now the five kings had fled and hidden in the cave at Makkedah.
10:17 When Joshua was told that the five kings had been found hiding in the cave at Makkedah,
10:18 he said, "Roll large rocks up to the mouth of the cave, and post some men there to guard it.
10:19 But don't stop! Pursue your enemies, attack them from the rear and don't let them reach their cities, for the LORD your God has given them into your hand."
10:20 So Joshua and the Israelites destroyed them completely--almost to a man--but the few who were left reached their fortified cities.
10:21 The whole army then returned safely to Joshua in the camp at Makkedah, and no one uttered a word against the Israelites.
10:22 Joshua said, "Open the mouth of the cave and bring those five kings out to me."
10:23 So they brought the five kings out of the cave--the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon.
10:24 When they had brought these kings to Joshua, he summoned all the men of Israel and said to the army commanders who had come with him, "Come here and put your feet on the necks of these kings." So they came forward and placed their feet on their necks.
10:25 Joshua said to them, "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you are going to fight."
10:26 Then Joshua struck and killed the kings and hung them on five trees, and they were left hanging on the trees until evening.
10:27 At sunset Joshua gave the order and they took them down from the trees and threw them into the cave where they had been hiding. At the mouth of the cave they placed large rocks, which are there to this day.
10:28 That day Joshua took Makkedah. He put the city and its king to the sword and totally destroyed everyone in it. He left no survivors. And he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.
10:29 Then Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Makkedah to Libnah and attacked it.
10:30 The LORD also gave that city and its king into Israel's hand. The city and everyone in it Joshua put to the sword. He left no survivors there. And he did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.
10:31 Then Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Libnah to Lachish; he took up positions against it and attacked it.
10:32 The LORD handed Lachish over to Israel, and Joshua took it on the second day. The city and everyone in it he put to the sword, just as he had done to Libnah.
10:33 Meanwhile, Horam king of Gezer had come up to help Lachish, but Joshua defeated him and his army--until no survivors were left.
10:34 Then Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Lachish to Eglon; they took up positions against it and attacked it.
10:35 They captured it that same day and put it to the sword and totally destroyed everyone in it, just as they had done to Lachish.
10:36 Then Joshua and all Israel with him went up from Eglon to Hebron and attacked it.
10:37 They took the city and put it to the sword, together with its king, its villages and everyone in it. They left no survivors. Just as at Eglon, they totally destroyed it and everyone in it.
10:38 Then Joshua and all Israel with him turned around and attacked Debir.
10:39 They took the city, its king and its villages, and put them to the sword. Everyone in it they totally destroyed. They left no survivors. They did to Debir and its king as they had done to Libnah and its king and to Hebron.
10:40 So Joshua subdued the whole region, including the hill country, the Negev, the western foothills and the mountain slopes, together with all their kings. He left no survivors. He totally destroyed all who breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.
10:41 Joshua subdued them from Kadesh Barnea to Gaza and from the whole region of Goshen to Gibeon.
10:42 All these kings and their lands Joshua conquered in one campaign, because the LORD, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
10:43 Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal. JOS
Psalms 142.
142:1 I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy.
142:2 I pour out my complaint before him; before him I tell my trouble.
142:3 When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who know my way. In the path where I walk men have hidden a snare for me.
142:4 Look to my right and see; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for my life.
142:5 I cry to you, O LORD; I say, "You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living."
142:6 Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me.
142:7 Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather about me because of your goodness to me.
Psalms 143.
143:1 O LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.
143:2 Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before you.
143:3 The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in darkness like those long dead.
143:4 So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed.
143:5 I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.
143:6 I spread out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah
143:7 Answer me quickly, O LORD; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit.
143:8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
143:9 Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you.
143:10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
143:11 For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble.
143:12 In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.
Jeremiah 4.
4:1 "If you will return, O Israel, return to me," declares the LORD. "If you put your detestable idols out of my sight and no longer go astray,
4:2 and if in a truthful, just and righteous way you swear, 'As surely as the LORD lives,' then the nations will be blessed by him and in him they will glory."
4:3 This is what the LORD says to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem: "Break up your unplowed ground and do not sow among thorns.
4:4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, circumcise your hearts, you men of Judah and people of Jerusalem, or my wrath will break out and burn like fire because of the evil you have done--burn with no one to quench it.
4:5 "Announce in Judah and proclaim in Jerusalem and say: 'Sound the trumpet throughout the land!' Cry aloud and say: 'Gather together! Let us flee to the fortified cities!'
4:6 Raise the signal to go to Zion! Flee for safety without delay! For I am bringing disaster from the north, even terrible destruction."
4:7 A lion has come out of his lair; a destroyer of nations has set out. He has left his place to lay waste your land. Your towns will lie in ruins without inhabitant.
4:8 So put on sackcloth, lament and wail, for the fierce anger of the LORD has not turned away from us.
4:9 "In that day," declares the LORD, "the king and the officials will lose heart, the priests will be horrified, and the prophets will be appalled."
4:10 Then I said, "Ah, Skvereign LORD, how completely you have deceived this people and Jerusalem by saying, 'You will have peace,' when the sword is at our throats."
4:11 At that time this people and Jerusalem will be told, "A scorching wind from the barren heights in the desert blows toward my people, but not to winnow or cleanse;
4:12 a wind too strong for that comes from me. Now I pronounce my judgments against them."
4:13 Look! He advances like the clouds, his chariots come like a whirlwind, his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! We are ruined!
4:14 O Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart and be saved. How long will you harbor wicked thoughts?
4:15 A voice is announcing from Dan, proclaiming disaster from the hills of Ephraim.
4:16 "Tell this to the nations, proclaim it to Jerusalem: 'A besieging army is coming from a distant land, raising a war cry against the cities of Judah.
4:17 They surround her like men guarding a field, because she has rebelled against me,'" declares the LORD.
4:18 "Your own conduct and actions have brought this upon you. This is your punishment. How bitter it is! How it pierces to the heart!"
4:19 Oh, my anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain. Oh, the agony of my heart! My heart pounds within me, I cannot keep silent. For I have heard the sound of the trumpet; I have heard the battle cry.
4:20 Disaster follows disaster; the whole land lies in ruins. In an instant my tents are destroyed, my shelter in a moment.
4:21 How long must I see the battle standard and hear the sound of the trumpet?
4:22 "My people are fools; they do not know me. They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good."
4:23 I looked at the earth, and it was formless and empty; and at the heavens, and their light was gone.
4:24 I looked at the mountains, and they were quaking; all the hills were swaying.
4:25 I looked, and there were no people; every bird in the sky had flown away.
4:26 I looked, and the fruitful land was a desert; all its towns lay in ruins before the LORD, before his fierce anger.
4:27 This is what the LORD says: "The whole land will be ruined, though I will not destroy it completely.
4:28 Therefore the earth will mourn and the heavens above grow dark, because I have spoken and will not relent, I have decided and will not turn back."
4:29 At the sound of horsemen and archers every town takes to flight. Some go into the thickets; some climb up among the rocks. All the towns are deserted; no one lives in them.
4:30 What are you doing, O devastated one? Why dress yourself in scarlet and put on jewels of gold? Why shade your eyes with paint? You adorn yourself in vain. Your lovers despise you; they seek your life.
4:31 I hear a cry as of a woman in labor, a groan as of one bearing her first child--the cry of the Daughter of Zion gasping for breath, stretching out her hands and saying, "Alas! I am fainting; my life is given over to murderers."
Matthew 18.
18:1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"
18:2 He called a little child and had him stand among them.
18:3 And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
18:4 Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
18:5 "And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.
18:6 But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
18:7 "Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!
18:8 If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.
18:9 And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
18:10 "See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.
18:11 ["For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.]
18:12 "What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?
18:13 And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off.
18:14 In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.
18:15 "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
18:16 But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'
18:17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
18:18 "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
18:19 "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
18:20 For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
18:21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"
18:22 Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
18:23 "Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
18:24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him.
18:25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.
18:26 "The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.'
18:27 The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
18:28 "But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.
18:29 "His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.'
18:30 "But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt.
18:31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened.
18:32 "Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to.
18:33 Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?'
18:34 In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
18:35 "This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart."
