사무엘상 28 장.

삼상28:1 그 때에 블레셋 사람들이 이스라엘과 싸우려고 군대를 모집한지라 아기스가 다윗에게 이르되 너는 밝히 알라 너와 네 사람들이 나와 함께 나가서 군대에 참가할 것이니라

삼상28:2 다윗이 아기스에게 이르되 그러면 당신의 종이 행할 바를 아시리이다 하니 아기스가 다윗에게 이르되 그러면 내가 너를 영원히 내 머리 지키는 자를 삼으리라 하니라

삼상28:3 사무엘이 죽었으므로 온 이스라엘이 그를 두고 슬피 울며 그의 고향 라마에 장사하였고 사울은 신접한 자와 박수를 그 땅에서 쫓아내었더라

삼상28:4 블레셋 사람들이 모여 수넴에 이르러 진 치매 사울이 온 이스라엘을 모아 길보아에 진 쳤더니

삼상28:5 사울이 블레셋 사람들의 군대를 보고 두려워서 그의 마음이 크게 떨린지라

삼상28:6 사울이 여호와께 묻자오되 여호와께서 꿈으로도, 우림으로도, 선지자로도 그에게 대답하지 아니하시므로

삼상28:7 사울이 그의 신하들에게 이르되 나를 위하여 신접한 여인을 찾으라 내가 그리로 가서 그에게 물으리라 하니 그의 신하들이 그에게 이르되 보소서 엔돌에 신접한 여인이 있나이다

삼상28:8 사울이 다른 옷을 입어 변장하고 두 사람과 함께 갈새 그들이 밤에 그 여인에게 이르러서는 사울이 이르되 청하노니 나를 위하여 신접한 술법으로 내가 네게 말하는 사람을 불러 올리라 하니

삼상28:9 여인이 그에게 이르되 네가 사울이 행한 일 곧 그가 신접한 자와 박수를 이 땅에서 멸절시켰음을 아나니 네가 어찌하여 내 생명에 올무를 놓아 나를 죽게 하려느냐 하는지라

삼상28:10 사울이 여호와의 이름으로 그에게 맹세하여 이르되 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 이 일로는 벌을 당하지 아니하리라 하니

삼상28:11 여인이 이르되 내가 누구를 네게로 불러 올리랴 하니 사울이 이르되 사무엘을 불러 올리라 하는지라

삼상28:12 여인이 사무엘을 보고 큰 소리로 외치며 사울에게 말하여 이르되 당신이 어찌하여 나를 속이셨나이까 당신이 사울이시니이다

삼상28:13 왕이 그에게 이르되 두려워하지 말라 네가 무엇을 보았느냐 하니 여인이 사울에게 이르되 내가 영이 땅에서 올라오는 것을 보았나이다 하는지라

삼상28:14 사울이 그에게 이르되 그의 모양이 어떠하냐 하니 그가 이르되 한 노인이 올라오는데 그가 겉옷을 입었나이다 하더라 사울이 그가 사무엘인 줄 알고 그의 얼굴을 땅에 대고 절하니라

삼상28:15 사무엘이 사울에게 이르되 네가 어찌하여 나를 불러 올려서 나를 성가시게 하느냐 하니 사울이 대답하되 나는 심히 다급하니이다 블레셋 사람들은 나를 향하여 군대를 일으켰고 하나님은 나를 떠나서 다시는 선지자로도, 꿈으로도 내게 대답하지 아니하시기로 내가 행할 일을 알아보려고 당신을 불러 올렸나이다 하더라

삼상28:16 사무엘이 이르되 여호와께서 너를 떠나 네 대적이 되셨거늘 네가 어찌하여 내게 묻느냐

삼상28:17 여호와께서 나를 통하여 말씀하신 대로 네게 행하사 나라를 네 손에서 떼어 네 이웃 다윗에게 주셨느니라

삼상28:18 네가 여호와의 목소리를 순종하지 아니하고 그의 진노를 아말렉에게 쏟지 아니하였으므로 여호와께서 오늘 이 일을 네게 행하셨고

삼상28:19 여호와께서 이스라엘을 너와 함께 블레셋 사람들의 손에 넘기시리니 내일 너와 네 아들들이 나와 함께 있으리라 여호와께서 또 이스라엘 군대를 블레셋 사람들의 손에 넘기시리라 하는지라

삼상28:20 사울이 갑자기 땅에 완전히 엎드러지니 이는 사무엘의 말로 말미암아 심히 두려워함이요 또 그의 기력이 다하였으니 이는 그가 하루 밤낮을 음식을 먹지 못하였음이니라

삼상28:21 그 여인이 사울에게 이르러 그가 심히 고통 당함을 보고 그에게 이르되 여종이 왕의 말씀을 듣고 내 생명을 아끼지 아니하고 왕이 내게 이르신 말씀을 순종하였사오니

삼상28:22 그런즉 청하건대 이제 당신도 여종의 말을 들으사 내가 왕 앞에 한 조각 떡을 드리게 하시고 왕은 잡수시고 길 가실 때에 기력을 얻으소서 하니

삼상28:23 사울이 거절하여 이르되 내가 먹지 아니하겠노까 하니라 그의 신하들과 여인이 강권하매 그들의 말을 듣고 땅에서 일어나 침상에 앉으니라

삼상28:24 여인의 집에 살진 송아지가 있으므로 그것을 급히 잡고 가루를 가져다가 뭉쳐 무교병을 만들고 구워서

삼상28:25 사울 앞에와 그의 신하들 앞에 내놓으니 그들이 먹고 일어나서 그 밤에 가니라

고린도전서 9 장.

고전9:1 내가 자유인이 아니냐 사도가 아니냐 예수 우리 주를 보지 못하였느냐 주 안에서 행한 나의 일이 너희가 아니냐

고전9:2 다른 사람들에게는 내가 사도가 아닐지라도 너희에게는 사도니 나의 사도 됨을 주 안에서 인친 것이 너희라

고전9:3 나를 비판하는 자들에게 발명할 것이 이것이니

고전9:4 우리가 먹고 마실 권리가 없겠느냐

고전9:5 우리가 다른 사도들과 주의 형제들과 게바와 같이 믿음의 자매 된 아내를 데리고 다닐 권리가 없겠느냐

고전9:6 어찌 나와 바나바만 일하지 아니할 권리가 없겠느냐

고전9:7 누가 자기 비용으로 군 복무를 하겠느냐 누가 포도를 심고 그 열매를 먹지 않겠느냐 누가 양 떼를 기르고 그 양 떼의 젖을 먹지 않겠느냐

고전9:8 내가 사람의 예대로 이것을 말하느냐 율법도 이것을 말하지 아니하느냐

고전9:9 모세의 율법에 곡식을 밟아 떠는 소에게 망을 씌우지 말라 기록하였으니 하나님께서 어찌 소들을 위하여 염려하심이냐

고전9:10 오로지 우리를 위하여 말씀하심이 아니냐 과연 우리를 위하여 기록된 것이니 밭 가는 자는 소망을 가지고 갈며 곡식 떠는 자는 함께 얻을 소망을 가지고 떠는 것이라

고전9:11 우리가 너희에게 신령한 것을 뿌렸은즉 너희의 육적인 것을 거두기로 과하다 하겠느냐

고전9:12 다른 이들도 너희에게 이런 권리를 가졌거든 하물며 우리일까보냐 그러나 우리가 이 권리를 쓰지 아니하고 범사에 참는 것은 그리스도의 복음에 아무 장애가 없게 하려 함이로다

고전9:13 성전의 일을 하는 이들은 성전에서 나는 것을 먹으며 제단에서 섬기는 이들은 제단과 함께 나누는 것을 너희가 알지 못하느냐

고전9:14 이와 같이 주께서도 복음 전하는 자들이 복음으로 말미암아 살리라 명하셨느니라

고전9:15 그러나 내가 이것을 하나도 쓰지 아니하였고 또 이 말을 쓰는 것은 내게 이같이 하여 달라는 것이 아니라 내가 차라리 죽을지언정 누구든지 내 자랑하는 것을 헛된 데로 돌리지 못하게 하리라

고전9:16 내가 복음을 전할지라도 자랑할 것이 없음은 내가 부득불 할 일이라 만일 복음을 전하지 아니하면 내게 화가 있을 것이로다

고전9:17 내가 내 자의로 이것을 행하면 상을 얻으려니와 자의로 아니한다 할지라도 나는 사명을 맡았노라

고전9:18 그런즉 내 상이 무엇이냐 내가 복음을 전할 때에 값없이 전하고 복음으로 말미암아 내게 있는 권리를 다 쓰지 아니하는 이것이로다

고전9:19 내가 모든 사람에게서 자유로우나 스스로 모든 사람에게 종이 된 것은 더 많은 사람을 얻고자 함이라

고전9:20 유대인들에게 내가 유대인과 같이 된 것은 유대인들을 얻고자 함이요 율법 아래에 있는 자들에게는 내가 율법 아래에 있지 아니하나 율법 아래 있는 자 같이 된 것은 율법 아래에 있는 자들을 얻고자 함이요

고전9:21 율법 없는 자에게는 내가 하나님께는 율법 없는 자가 아니요 도리어 그리스도의 율법 아래에 있는 자나 율법 없는 자와 같이 된 것은 율법 없는 자들을 얻고자 함이라

고전9:22 약한 자들에게 내가 약한 자와 같이 된 것은 약한 자들을 얻고자 함이요 내가 여러 사람에게 여러 모습이 된 것은 아무쪼록 몇 사람이라도 구원하고자 함이니

고전9:23 내가 복음을 위하여 모든 것을 행함은 복음에 참여하고자 함이라

고전9:24 운동장에서 달음질하는 자들이 다 달릴지라도 오직 상을 받는 사람은 한 사람인 줄을 너희가 알지 못하느냐 너희도 상을 받도록 이와 같이 달음질하라

고전9:25 이기기를 다투는 자마다 모든 일에 절제하나니 그들은 썩을 승리자의 관을 얻고자 하되 우리는 썩지 아니할 것을 얻고자 하노라

고전9:26 그러므로 나는 달음질하기를 향방 없는 것 같이 아니하고 싸우기를 허공을 치는 것 같이 아니하며

고전9:27 내가 내 몸을 쳐 복종하게 함은 내가 남에게 전파한 후에 자신이 도리어 버림을 당할까 두려워함이로다

에스겔 7 장.

겔7:1 또 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하여 이르시되

겔7:2 너 인자야 주 여호와께서 이스라엘 땅에 관하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 끝났도다 이 땅 사방의 일이 끝났도다

겔7:3 이제는 네게 끝이 이르렀나니 내가 내 진노를 네게 나타내어 네 행위를 심판하고 네 모든 가증한 일을 보응하리라

겔7:4 내가 너를 불쌍히 여기지 아니하며 긍휼히 여기지도 아니하고 네 행위대로 너를 벌하여 네 가증한 일이 너희 중에 나타나게 하리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 너희가 알리라

겔7:5 주 여호와께서 이같이 이르시되 재앙이로다, 비상한 재앙이로다 볼지어다 그것이 왔도다

겔7:6 끝이 왔도다, 끝이 왔도다 끝이 너에게 왔도다 볼지어다 그것이 왔도다

겔7:7 이 땅 주민아 정한 재앙이 네게 임하도다 때가 이르렀고 날이 가까웠으니 요란한 날이요 산에서 즐거이 부르는 날이 아니로다

겔7:8 이제 내가 속히 분을 네게 쏟고 내 진노를 네게 이루어서 네 행위대로 너를 심판하여 네 모든 가증한 일을 네게 보응하되

겔7:9 내가 너를 불쌍히 여기지 아니 하며 긍휼히 여기지도 아니하고 네 행위대로 너를 벌하여 너의 가증한 일이 너희 중에 나타나게 하리니 나 여호와가 때리는 이임을 네가 알리라

겔7:10 볼지어다 그 날이로다 볼지어다 임박하도다 정한 재앙이 이르렀으니 몽둥이가 꽃이 피며 교만이 싹이 났도다

겔7:11 포학이 일어나서 죄악의 몽둥이가 되었은즉 그들도, 그 무리도, 그 재물도 하나도 남지 아니하며 그 중의 아름다운 것도 없어지리로다

겔7:12 때가 이르렀고 날이 가까웠으니 사는 자도 기뻐하지 말고 파는 자도 근심하지 말 것은 진노가 그 모든 무리에게 임함이로다

겔7:13 파는 자가 살아 있다 할지라도 다시 돌아가서 그 판 것을 얻지 못하리니 이는 묵시가 그 모든 무리에게 돌아오지 아니하고, 사람이 그 죄악으로 말미암아 자기의 목숨을 유지할 수 없으리라 하였음이로다

겔7:14 그들이 나팔을 불어 온갖 것을 준비하였을지라도 전쟁에 나갈 사람이 없나니 이는 내 진노가 그 모든 무리에게 이르렀음이라

겔7:15 밖에는 칼이 있고 안에는 전염병과 기근이 있어서 밭에 있는 자는 칼에 죽을 것이요 성읍에 있는 자는 기근과 전염병에 망할 것이며

겔7:16 도망하는 자는 산 위로 피하여 다 각기 자기 죄악 때문에 골짜기의 비둘기들처럼 슬피 울 것이며

겔7:17 모든 손은 피곤하고 모든 무릎은 물과 같이 약할 것이라

겔7:18 그들이 굵은 베로 허리를 묶을 것이요 두려움이 그들을 덮을 것이요 모든 얼굴에는 수치가 있고 모든 머리는 대머리가 될 것이며

겔7:19 그들이 그 은을 거리에 던지며 그 금을 오물 같이 여기리니 이는 여호와 내가 진노를 내리는 날에 그들의 은과 금이 능히 그들을 건지지 못하며 능히 그 심령을 족하게 하거나 그 창자를 채우지 못하고 오직 죄악의 걸림돌이 됨이로다

겔7:20 그들이 그 화려한 장식으로 말미암아 교만을 품었고 또 그것으로 가증한 우상과 미운 물건을 만들었은즉 내가 그것을 그들에게 오물이 되게 하여

겔7:21 타국인의 손에 넘겨 노략하게 하며 세상 악인에게 넘겨 그들이 약탈하여 더럽히게 하고

겔7:22 내가 또 내 얼굴을 그들에게서 돌이키리니 그들이 내 은밀한 처소를 더럽히고 포악한 자도 거기 들어와서 더럽히리라

겔7:23 너는 쇠사슬을 만들라 이는 피 흘리는 죄가 그 땅에 가득하고 포악이 그 성읍에 찼음이라

겔7:24 내가 극히 악한 이방인들을 데려와서 그들이 그 집들을 점령하게 하고 강한 자의 교만을 그치게 하리니 그들의 성소가 더럽힘을 당하리라

겔7:25 패망이 이르리니 그들이 평강을 구하여도 없을 것이라

겔7:26 환난에 환난이 더하고 소문에 소문이 더할 때에 그들이 선지자에게서 묵시를 구하나 헛될 것이며 제사장에게는 율법이 없어질 것이요 장로에게는 책략이 없어질 것이며

겔7:27 왕은 애통하고 고관은 놀람을 옷 입듯 하며 주민의 손은 떨리리라 내가 그 행위대로 그들에게 갚고 그 죄악대로 그들을 심판하리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 그들이 알리라

시편 45 장.

시45:1 내 마음이 좋은 말로 왕을 위하여 지은 것을 말하리니 내 혀는 글 솜씨가 뛰어난 서기관의 붓끝과 같도다

시45:2 왕은 사람들보다 아름다워 은혜를 입술에 머금으니 그러므로 하나님이 왕에게 영원히 복을 주시도다

시45:3 용사여 칼을 허리에 차고 왕의 영화와 위엄을 입으소서

시45:4 왕은 진리와 온유와 공의를 위하여 왕의 위엄을 세우시고 병거에 오르소서 왕의 오른손이 왕에게 놀라운 일을 가르치리이다

시45:5 왕의 화살은 날카로워 왕의 원수의 염통을 뚫으니 만민이 왕의 앞에 엎드러지는도다

시45:6 하나님이여 주의 보좌는 영원하며 주의 나라의 규는 공평한 규이니이다

시45:7 왕은 정의를 사랑하고 악을 미워하시니 그러므로 하나님 곧 왕의 하나님이 즐거움의 기름을 왕에게 부어 왕의 동료보다 뛰어나게 하셨나이다

시45:8 왕의 모든 옷은 몰약과 침향과 육계의 향기가 있으며 상아궁에서 나오는 현악은 왕을 즐겁게 하도다

시45:9 왕이 가까이 하는 여인들 중에는 왕들의 딸이 있으며 왕후는 오빌의 금으로 꾸미고 왕의 오른쪽에 서도다

시45:10 딸이여 듣고 보고 귀를 기울일지어다 네 백성과 네 아버지의 집을 잊어버릴지어다

시45:11 그리하면 왕이 네 아름다움을 사모하실지라 그는 네 주인이시니 너는 그를 경배할지어다

시45:12 두로의 딸은 예물을 드리고 백성 중 부한 자도 네 얼굴 보기를 원하리로다

시45:13 왕의 딸은 궁중에서 모든 영화를 누리니 그의 옷은 금으로 수 놓았도다

시45:14 수 놓은 옷을 입은 그는 왕께로 인도함을 받으며 시종하는 친구 처녀들도 왕께로 이끌려 갈 것이라

시45:15 그들은 기쁨과 즐거움으로 인도함을 받고 왕궁에 들어가리로다

시45:16 왕의 아들들은 왕의 조상들을 계승할 것이라 왕이 그들로 온 세계의 군왕을 삼으리로다

시45:17 내가 왕의 이름을 만세에 기억하게 하리니 그러므로 만민이 왕을 영원히 찬송하리로다

1 Samuel 28.

28:1 In those days the Philistines gathered their forces to fight against Israel. Achish said to David, "You must understand that you and your men will accompany me in the army."

28:2 David said, "Then you will see for yourself what your servant can do." Achish replied, "Very well, I will make you my bodyguard for life."

28:3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in his own town of Ramah. Saul had expelled the mediums and spiritists from the land.

28:4 The Philistines assembled and came and set up camp at Shunem, while Saul gathered all the Israelites and set up camp at Gilboa.

28:5 When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid; terror filled his heart.

28:6 He inquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him by dreams or Urim or prophets.

28:7 Saul then said to his attendants, "Find me a woman who is a medium, so I may go and inquire of her." "There is one in Endor," they said.

28:8 So Saul disguised himself, putting on other clothes, and at night he and two men went to the woman. "Consult a spirit for me," he said, "and bring up for me the one I name."

28:9 But the woman said to him, "Surely you know what Saul has done. He has cut off the mediums and spiritists from the land. Why have you set a trap for my life to bring about my death?"

28:10 Saul swore to her by the LORD, "As surely as the LORD lives, you will not be punished for this."

28:11 Then the woman asked, "Whom shall I bring up for you?" "Bring up Samuel," he said.

28:12 When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out at the top of her voice and said to Saul, "Why have you deceived me? You are Saul!"

28:13 The king said to her, "Don't be afraid. What do you see?" The woman said, "I see a spirit coming up out of the ground."

28:14 "What does he look like?" he asked. "An old man wearing a robe is coming up," she said. Then Saul knew it was Samuel, and he bowed down and prostrated himself with his face to the ground.

28:15 Samuel said to Saul, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?" "I am in great distress," Saul said. "The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned away from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do."

28:16 Samuel said, "Why do you consult me, now that the LORD has turned away from you and become your enemy?

28:17 The LORD has done what he predicted through me. The LORD has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors--to David.

28:18 Because you did not obey the LORD or carry out his fierce wrath against the Amalekites, the LORD has done this to you today.

28:19 The LORD will hand over both Israel and you to the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The LORD will also hand over the army of Israel to the Philistines."

28:20 Immediately Saul fell full length on the ground, filled with fear because of Samuel's words. His strength was gone, for he had eaten nothing all that day and night.

28:21 When the woman came to Saul and saw that he was greatly shaken, she said, "Look, your maidservant has obeyed you. I took my life in my hands and did what you told me to do.

28:22 Now please listen to your servant and let me give you some food so you may eat and have the strength to go on your way."

28:23 He refused and said, "I will not eat." But his men joined the woman in urging him, and he listened to them. He got up from the ground and sat on the couch.

28:24 The woman had a fattened calf at the house, which she butchered at once. She took some flour, kneaded it and baked bread without yeast.

28:25 Then she set it before Saul and his men, and they ate. That same night they got up and left.

1 Corinthians 9.

9:1 Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not the result of my work in the Lord?

9:2 Even though I may not be an apostle to others, surely I am to you! For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

9:3 This is my defense to those who sit in judgment on me.

9:4 Don't we have the right to food and drink?

9:5 Don't we have the right to take a believing wife along with us, as do the other apostles and the Lord's brothers and Cephas?

9:6 Or is it only I and Barnabas who must work for a living?

9:7 Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its grapes? Who tends a flock and does not drink of the milk?

9:8 Do I say this merely from a human point of view? Doesn't the Law say the same thing?

9:9 For it is written in the Law of Moses: "Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain." Is it about oxen that God is concerned?

9:10 Surely he says this for us, doesn't he? Yes, this was written for us, because when the plowman plows and the thresher threshes, they ought to do so in the hope of sharing in the harvest.

9:11 If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?

9:12 If others have this right of support from you, shouldn't we have it all the more? But we did not use this right. On the contrary, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ.

9:13 Don't you know that those who work in the temple get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar?

9:14 In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.

9:15 But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me. I would rather die than have anyone deprive me of this boast.

9:16 Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!

9:17 If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.

9:18 What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make use of my rights in preaching it.

9:19 Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.

9:20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.

9:21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law.

9:22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.

9:23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

9:25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

9:26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.

9:27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Ezekiel 7.

7:1 The word of the LORD came to me:

7:2 "Son of man, this is what the Sovereign LORD says to the land of Israel: The end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.

7:3 The end is now upon you and I will unleash my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices.

7:4 I will not look on you with pity or spare you; I will surely repay you for your conduct and the detestable practices among you. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

7:5 "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Disaster! An unheard-of disaster is coming.

7:6 The end has come! The end has come! It has roused itself against you. It has come!

7:7 Doom has come upon you--you who dwell in the land. The time has come, the day is near; there is panic, not joy, upon the mountains.

7:8 I am about to pour out my wrath on you and spend my anger against you; I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices.

7:9 I will not look on you with pity or spare you; I will repay you in accordance with your conduct and the detestable practices among you. Then you will know that it is I the LORD who strikes the blow.

7:10 "The day is here! It has coma! Doom has burst forth, the rod has budded, arrogance has blossomed!

7:11 Violence has grown into a rod to punish wickedness; none of the people will be left, none of that crowd--no wealth, nothing of value.

7:12 The time has come, the day has arrived. Let not the buyer rejoice nor the seller grieve, for wrath is upon the whole crowd.

7:13 The seller will not recover the land he has sold as long as both of them live, for the vision concerning the whole crowd will not be reversed. Because of their sins, not one of them will preserve his life.

7:14 Though they blow the trumpet and get everything ready, no one will go into battle, for my wrath is upon the whole crowd.

7:15 "Outside is the sword, inside are plague and famine; those in the country will die by the sword, and those in the city will be devoured by famine and plague.

7:16 All who survive and escape will be in the mountains, moaning like doves of the valleys, each because of his sins.

7:17 Every hand will go limp, and every knee will become as weak as water.

7:18 They will put on sackcloth and be clothed with terror. Their faces will be covered with shame and their heads will be shaved.

7:19 They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be an unclean thing. Their silver and gold will not be able to save them in the day of the LORD'S wrath. They will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it, for it has made them stumble into sin.

7:20 They were proud of their beautiful jewelry and used it to make their detestable idols and vile images. Therefore I will turn these into an unclean thing for them.

7:21 I will hand it all over as plunder to foreigners and as loot to the wicked of the earth, and they will defile it.

7:22 I will turn my face away from them, and they will desecrate my treasured place; robbers will enter it and desecrate it.

7:23 "Prepare chains, because the land is full of bloodshed and the city is full of violence.

7:24 I will bring the most wicked of the nations to take possession of their houses; I will put an end to the pride of the mighty, and their sanctuaries will be desecrated.

7:25 When terror comes, they will seek peace, but there will be none.

7:26 Calamity upon calamity will come, and rumor upon rumor. They will try to get a vision from the prophet; the teaching of the law by the priest will be lost, as will the counsel of the elders.

7:27 The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with despair, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. I will deal with them according to their conduct, and by their own standards I will judge them. Then they will know that I am the LORD."

Psalms 45.

45:1 My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

45:2 You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.

45:3 Gird your sword upon your side, O mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.

45:4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.

45:5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king's enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.

45:6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

45:7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

45:8 All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from palaces adorned with ivory the music of the strings makes you glad.

45:9 Daughters of kings are among your honored women; at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir.

45:10 Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father's house.

45:11 The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

45:12 The Daughter of Tyre will come with a gift, men of wealth will seek your favor.

45:13 All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold.

45:14 In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her and are brought to you.

45:15 They are led in with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of the king.

45:16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land.

45:17 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.
