열왕기상 4 장.

왕상4:1 솔로몬 왕이 온 이스라엘의 왕이 되었고

왕상4:2 그의 신하들은 이러하니라 사독의 아들 아사리아는 제사장이요

왕상4:3 시사의 아들 엘리호렙과 아히야는 서기관이요 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧은 사관이요

왕상4:4 여호야다의 아들 브나야는 군사령관이요 사독과 아비아달은 제사장이요

왕상4:5 나단의 아들 아사리아는 지방 관장의 부령이요 나단의 아들 사붓은 제사장이니 왕의 벗이요

왕상4:6 아히살은 궁내대신이요 압다의 아들 아도니람은 노동 감독관이더라

왕상4:7 솔로몬이 또 온 이스라엘에 열 두 지방 관장을 두매 그 사람들이 왕과 왕실을 위하여 양식을 공급하되 각기 일 년에 한 달씩 양식을 공급하였으니

왕상4:8 그들의 이름은 이러하니라 에브라임 산지에는 벤훌이요

왕상4:9 마가스와 사알빔과 벧세메스와 엘론벧하난에는 벤데겔이요

왕상4:10 아룹봇에는 벤헤셋이니 소고와 헤벨 온 땅을 그가 주관하였으며

왕상4:11 나밧 돌 높은 땅 온 지방에는 벤아비나답이니 그는 솔로몬의 딸 다밧을 아내로 삼았으며

왕상4:12 다아낙과 므깃도와 이스르엘 아래 사르단가에 있는 벧스안 온 땅은 아힐룻의 아들 바아나가 맡았으니 벧스안에서부터 아벨므홀라에 이르고 욕느암 바깥까지 미쳤으며

왕상4:13 길르앗 라못에는 벤게벨이니 그는 길르앗에 있는 므낫세의 아들 야일의 모든 마을을 주관하였고 또 바산 아르곱 땅의 성벽과 놋 빗장 있는 육십 개의 큰 성읍을 주관하였으며

왕상4:14 마하나임에는 잇도의 아들 아히나답이요

왕상4:15 납달리에는 아히마아스이니 그는 솔로몬의 딸 바스맛을 아내로 삼았으며

왕상4:16 아셀과 아롯에는 후새의 아들 바아나요

왕상4:17 잇사갈에는 바루아의 아들 여호 사만이요

왕상4:18 베냐민에는 엘라의 아들 시므이요

왕상4:19 아모리 사람의 왕 시혼과 바산 왕 옥의 나라 길르앗 땅에는 우리의 아들 게벨이니 그 땅에서는 그 한 사람만 지방 관장이 되었더라

왕상4:20 유다와 이스라엘의 인구가 바닷가의 모래 같이 많게 되매 먹고 마시며 즐거워하였으며

왕상4:21 솔로몬이 그 강에서부터 블레셋 사람의 땅에 이르기까지와 애굽 지경에 미치기까지의 모든 나라를 다스리므로 솔로몬이 사는 동안에 그 나라들이 조공을 바쳐 섬겼더라

왕상4:22 솔로몬의 하루의 음식물은 가는 밀가루가 삼십 고르요 굵은 밀가루가 육십 고르요

왕상4:23 살진 소가 열 마리요 초장의 소가 스무 마리요 양이 백 마리이며 그 외에 수사슴과 노루와 암사슴과 살진 새들이었더라

왕상4:24 솔로몬이 그 강 건너편을 딥사에서부터 가사까지 모두, 그 강 건너편의 왕을 모두 다스리므로 그가 사방에 둘린 민족과 평화를 누렸으니

왕상4:25 솔로몬이 사는 동안에 유다와 이스라엘이 단에서부터 브엘세바에 이르기까지 각기 포도나무 아래와 무화과나무 아래에서 평안히 살았더라

왕상4:26 솔로몬의 병거의 말 외양간이 사만이요 마병이 만 이천 명이며

왕상4:27 그 지방 관장들은 각각 자기가 맡은 달에 솔로몬 왕과 왕의 상에 참여하는 모든 자를 위하여 먹을 것을 공급하여 부족함이 없게 하였으며

왕상4:28 또 그들이 각기 직무를 따라 말과 준마에게 먹일 보리와 꼴을 그 말들이 있는 곳으로 가져왔더라

왕상4:29 하나님이 솔로몬에게 지혜와 총명을 심히 많이 주시고 또 넓은 마음을 주시되 바닷가의 모래 같이 하시니

왕상4:30 솔로몬의 지혜가 동쪽 모든 사람의 지혜와 애굽의 모든 지혜 보다 뛰어난지라

왕상4:31 그는 모든 사람보다 지혜로워서 예스라 사람 에단과 마홀의 아들 헤만과 갈골과 다르다보다 나으므로 그의 이름이 사방 모든 나라에 들렸더라

왕상4:32 그가 잠언 삼천 가지를 말하였고 그의 노래는 천다섯 편이며

왕상4:33 그가 또 초목에 대하여 말하되 레바논의 백향목으로부터 담에 나는 우슬초까지 하고 그가 또 짐승과 새와 기어다니는 것과 물고기에 대하여 말한지라

왕상4:34 사람들이 솔로몬의 지혜를 들으러 왔으니 이는 그의 지혜의 소문을 들은 천하 모든 왕들이 보낸 자들이더라

열왕기상 5 장.

왕상5:1 솔로몬이 기름 부음을 받고 그와 아버지를 이어 왕이 되었다 함을 두로 왕 히람이 듣고 그의 신하들을 솔로몬에게 보냈으니 이는 히람이 평생에 다윗을 사랑하였음이라

왕상5:2 이에 솔로몬이 히람에게 사람을 보내어 이르되

왕상5:3 당신도 알거니와 내 아버지 다윗이 사방의 전쟁으로 말미암아 그의 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 건축하지 못하고 여호와께서 그의 원수들을 그의 발바닥 밑에 두시기를 기다렸나이다

왕상5:4 이제 내 하나님 여호와께서 내게 사방의 태평을 주시매 원수도 없고 재앙도 없도다

왕상5:5 여호와께서 내 아버지 다윗에게 하신 말씀에 내가 너를 이어 네 자리에 오르게 할 네 아들 그가 내 이름을 위하여 성전을 건축하리라 하신 대로 내가 내 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 건축하려 하오니

왕상5:6 당신은 명령을 내려 나를 위하여 레바논에서 백향목을 베어내게 하소서 내 종과 당신의 종이 함께 할 것이요 또 내가 당신의 모든 말씀대로 당신의 종의 삯을 당신에게 드리리이다 당신도 알거니와 우리 중에는 시돈 사람처럼 벌목을 잘하는 자가 없나이다

왕상5:7 히람이 솔로몬의 말을 듣고 크게 기뻐하여 이르되 오늘 여호와를 찬양할지로다 그가 다윗에게 지혜로운 아들을 주사 그 많은 백성을 다스리게 하셨도다 하고

왕상5:8 이에 솔로몬에게 사람을 보내어 이르되 당신이 사람을 보내어 하신 말씀을 내가 들었거니와 내 백향목 재목과 잣나무 재목에 대하여는 당신이 바라시는 대로 할지라

왕상5:9 내 종이 레바논에서 바다로 운반하겠고 내가 그것을 바다에서 뗏목으로 엮어 당신이 지정하는 곳으로 보내고 거기서 그것을 풀리니 당신은 받으시고 내 원을 이루어 나의 궁정을 위하여 음식물을 주소서 하고

왕상5:10 솔로몬의 모든 원대로 백향목 재목과 잣나무 재목을 주매

왕상5:11 솔로몬이 히람에게 그의 궁정의 음식물로 밀 이만 고르와 맑은 기름 이십 고르를 주고 해마다 그와 같이 주었더라

왕상5:12 여호와께서 그의 말씀대로 솔로몬에게 지혜를 주신 고로 히람과 솔로몬이 친목하여 두 사람이 함께 약조를 맺었더라

왕상5:13 이에 솔로몬 왕이 온 이스라엘 가운데서 역군을 불러일으키니 그 역군의 수가 삼만 명이라

왕상5:14 솔로몬이 그들을 한 달에 만 명씩 번갈아 레바논으로 보내매 그들이 한 달은 레바논에 있고 두 달은 집에 있으며 아도니람은 감독이 되었고

왕상5:15 솔로몬에게 또 짐꾼이 칠만 명이요 산에서 돌을 뜨는 자가 팔만 명이며

왕상5:16 이 외에 그 사역을 감독하는 관리가 삼천삼백 명이라 그들이 일하는 백성을 거느렸더라

왕상5:17 이에 왕이 명령을 내려 크고 귀한 돌을 떠다가 다듬어서 성전의 기초석으로 놓게 하매

왕상5:18 솔로몬의 건축자와 히람의 건축자와 그발 사람이 그 돌을 다듬고 성전을 건축하기 위하여 재목과 돌들을 갖추니라

에베소서 2 장.

엡2:1 그는 허물과 죄로 죽었던 너희를 살리셨도다

엡2:2 그 때에 너희는 그 가운데서 행하여 이 세상 풍조를 따르고 공중의 권세 잡은 자를 따랐으니 곧 지금 불순종의 아들들 가운데서 역사하는 영이라

엡2:3 전에는 우리도 다 그 가운데서 우리 육체의 욕심을 따라 지내며 육체와 마음이 원하는 것을 하여 다른 이들과 같이 본질상 진노의 자녀이었더니

엡2:4 긍휼이 풍성하신 하나님이 우리를 사랑하신 그 큰 사랑을 인하여

엡2:5 허물로 죽은 우리를 그리스도와 함께 살리셨고 (너희는 은혜로 구원을 받은 것이라)

엡2:6 또 함께 일으키사 그리스도 예수 안에서 함께 하늘에 앉히시니

엡2:7 이는 그리스도 예수 안에서 우리에게 자비하심으로써 그 은혜의 지극히 풍성함을 오는 여러 세대에 나타내려 하심이라

엡2:8 너희는 그 은혜에 의하여 믿음으로 말미암아 구원을 받았으니 이것은 너희에게서 난 것이 아니요 하나님의 선물이라

엡2:9 행위에서 난 것이 아니니 이는 누구든지 자랑하지 못하게 함이라

엡2:10 우리는 그가 만드신 바라 그리스도 예수 안에서 선한 일을 위하여 지으심을 받은 자니 이 일은 하나님이 전에 예비하사 우리로 그 가운데서 행하게 하려 하심이니라

엡2:11 그러므로 생각하라 너희는 그 때에 육체로는 이방인이요 손으로 육체에 행한 할례를 받은 무리라 칭하는 자들로부터 할례를 받지 않은 무리라 칭함을 받는 자들이라

엡2:12 그 때에 너희는 그리스도 밖에 있었고 이스라엘 나라 밖의 사람이라 약속의 언약들에 대하여는 외인이요 세상에서 소망이 없고 하나님도 없는 자이더니

엡2:13 이제는 전에 멀리 있던 너희가 그리스도 예수 안에서 그리스도의 피로 가까워졌느니라

엡2:14 그는 우리의 화평이신지라 둘로 하나를 만드사 원수 된 것 곧 중간에 막힌 담을 자기 육체로 허시고

엡2:15 법조문으로 된 계명의 율법을 폐하셨으니 이는 이 둘로 자기 안에서 한 새 사람을 지어 화평하게 하시고

엡2:16 또 십자가로 이 둘을 한 몸으로 하나님과 화목하게 하려 하심이라 원수 된 것을 십자가로 소멸하시고

엡2:17 또 오셔서 먼 데 있는 너희에게 평안을 전하시고 가까운 데 있는 자들에게 평안을 전하셨으니

엡2:18 이는 그로 말미암아 우리 둘이 한 성령 안에서 아버지께 나아감을 얻게 하려 하심이라

엡2:19 그러므로 이제부터 너희는 외인도 아니요 나그네도 아니요 오직 성도들과 동일한 시민이요 하나님의 권속이라

엡2:20 너희는 사도들과 선지자들의 터 위에 세우심을 입은 자라 그리스도 예수께서 친히 모퉁잇돌이 되셨느니라

엡2:21 그의 안에서 건물마다 서로 연결하여 주 안에서 성전이 되어 가고

엡2:22 너희도 성령 안에서 하나님이 거하실 처소가 되기 위하여 예수 안에서 함께 지어져 가느니라

에스겔 35 장.

겔35:1 또 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하여 이르시되

겔35:2 인자야 네 얼굴을 세일 산으로 향하고 그에게 예언하여

겔35:3 이르기를 주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 세일 산아 내가 너를 대적하여 내 손을 네 위에 펴서 네가 황무지와 공포의 대상이 되게 할지라

겔35:4 내가 네 성읍들을 무너뜨리며 네가 황폐하게 되리니 네가 나를 여호와인 줄을 알리라

겔35:5 네가 옛날부터 한을 품고 이스라엘 족속의 환난 때 곧 죄악의 마지막 때에 칼의 위력에 그들을 넘겼도다

겔35:6 그러므로 주 여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 나의 삶을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 너에게 피를 만나게 한즉 피가 너를 따르리라 네가 피를 미워하지 아니하였은즉 피가 너를 따르리라

겔35:7 내가 세일 산이 황무지와 폐허가 되게 하여 그 위에 왕래하는 자를 다 끊을지라

겔35:8 내가 그 죽임 당한 자를 그 여러 산에 채우되 칼에 죽임 당한 자를 네 여러 멧부리와 골짜기와, 모든 시내에 엎드러지게 하고

겔35:9 너를 영원히 황폐하게 하여 네 성읍들에 다시는 거주하는 자가 없게 하리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 너희가 알리라

겔35:10 네가 말하기를 이 두 민족과 두 땅은 다 내 것이며 내 기업이 되리라 하였도다 그러나 여호와께서 거기에 계셨느니라

겔35:11 그러므로 주 여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 나의 삶을 두고 맹세하노니 네가 그들을 미워하여 노하며 질투한 대로 내가 네게 행하여 너를 심판할 때에 그들이 나를 알게 하리라

겔35:12 네가 이스라엘 산들을 가리켜 말하기를 저 산들이 황폐하였으므로 우리에게 넘겨 주어서 삼키게 되었다 하여 욕하는 모든 말을 나 여호와가 들은 줄을 네가 알리로다

겔35:13 너희가 나를 대적하여 입으로 자랑하며 나를 대적하여 여러 가지로 말한 것을 내가 들었노라

겔35:14 주 여호와에서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 온 땅이 즐거워할 때에 내가 너를 황폐하게 하되

겔35:15 이스라엘 족속의 기업이 황폐하므로 네가 즐거워한 것 같이 내가 너를 황폐하게 하리라 세일 산아 너와 에돔 온 땅이 황폐하리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 무리가 알리라 하셨다 하라

시편 85 장.

시85:1 여호와여 주께서 주의 땅에 은혜를 베푸사 야곱의 포로 된 자들이 돌아오게 하셨으며

시85:2 주의 백성의 죄악을 사하시고 그들의 모든 죄를 덮으셨나이다 (셀라)

시85:3 주의 모든 분노를 거두시며 주의 진노를 돌이키셨나이다

시85:4 우리 구원의 하나님이여 우리를 돌이키시고 우리에게 향하신 주의 분노를 거두소서

시85:5 주께서 우리에게 영원히 노하시며 대대에 진노하시겠나이까

시85:6 주께서 우리를 다시 살리사 주의 백성이 주를 기뻐하도록 하지 아니하시겠나이까

시85:7 여호와여 주의 인자하심을 우리에게 보이시며 주의 구원을 우리에게 주소서

시85:8 내가 하나님 여호와께서 하실 말씀을 들으리니 무릇 그의 백성, 그의 성도들에게 화평을 말씀하실 것이라 그들은 다시 어리석은 데로 돌아가지 말지로다

시85:9 진실로 그의 구원이 그를 경외하는 자에게 가까우니 영광이 우리 땅에 머무르리이다

시85:10 인애와 진리가 같이 만나고 의와 화평이 서로 입맞추었으며

시85:11 진리는 땅에서 솟아나고 의는 하늘에서 굽어보도다

시85:12 여호와께서 좋은 것을 주시리니 우리 땅이 그 산물을 내리로다

시85:13 의가 주의 앞에 앞서 가며 주의 길을 닦으리로다

1 Kings 4.

4:1 So King Solomon ruled over all Israel.

4:2 And these were his chief officials: Azariah son of Zadok--the priest;

4:3 Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha--secretaries; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud--recorder;

4:4 Benaiah son of Jehoiada--commander in chief; Zadok and Abiathar--priests;

4:5 Azariah son of Nathan--in charge of the district officers; Zabud son of Nathan--a priest and personal adviser to the king;

4:6 Ahishar--in charge of the palace; Adoniram son of Abda--in charge of forced labor.

4:7 Solomon also had twelve district governors over all Israel, who supplied provisions for the king and the royal household. Each one had to provide supplies for one month in the year.

4:8 These are their names: Ben-Hur--in the hill country of Ephraim;

4:9 Ben-Deker--in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh and Elon Bethhanan;

4:10 Ben-Hesed--in Arubboth (Socoh and all the land of Hepher were his);

4:11 Ben-Abinadab--in Naphoth Dor (he was married to Taphath daughter of Solomon);

4:12 Baana son of Ahilud--in Taanach and Megiddo, and in all of Beth Shan next to Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth Shan to Abel Meholah across to Jokmeam;

4:13 Ben-Geber--in Ramoth Gilead (the settlements of Jair son of Manasseh in Gilead were his, as well as the district of Argob in Bashan and its sixty large walled cities with bronze gate bars);

4:14 Ahinadab son of Iddo--in Mahanaim;

4:15 Ahimaaz--in Naphtali (he had married Basemath daughter of Solomon);

4:16 Baana son of Hushai--in Asher and in Aloth;

4:17 Jehoshaphat son of Paruah--in Issachar;

4:18 Shimei son of Ela--in Benjamin;

4:19 Geber son of Uri--in Gilead (the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and the country of Og king of Bashan). He was the only governor over the district.

4:20 The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy.

4:21 And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These countries brought tribute and were Solomon's subjects all his life.

4:22 Solomon's daily provisions were thirty cors of fine flour and sixty cors of meal,

4:23 ten head of stall-fed cattle, twenty of pasture-fed cattle and a hundred sheep and goats, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks and choice fowl.

4:24 For he ruled over all the kingdoms west of the River, from Tiphsah to Gaza, and had peace on all sides.

4:25 During Solomon's lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, each man under his own vine and fig tree.

4:26 Solomon had four thousand stalls for chariot horses, and twelve thousand horses.

4:27 The district officers, each in his month, supplied provisions for King Solomon and all who came to the king's table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking.

4:28 They also brought to the proper place their quotas of barley and straw for the chariot horses and the other horses.

4:29 God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.

4:30 Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the men of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.

4:31 He was wiser than any other man, including Ethan the Ezrahite--wiser than Heman, Calcol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.

4:32 He spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five.

4:33 He described plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also taught about animals and birds, reptiles and fish.

4:34 Men of all nations came to listen to Solomon's wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.

1 Kings 5.

5:1 When Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been anointed king to succeed his father David, he sent his envoys to Solomon, because he had always been on friendly terms with David.

5:2 Solomon sent back this message to Hiram:

5:3 "You know that because of the wars waged against my father David from all sides, he could not build a temple for the Name of the LORD his God until the LORD put his enemies under his feet.

5:4 But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or disaster.

5:5 I intend, therefore, to build a temple for the Name of the LORD my God, as the LORD told my father David, when he said, 'Your son whom I will put on the throne in your place will build the temple for my Name.'

5:6 "So give orders that cedars of Lebanon be cut for me. My men will work with yours, and I will pay you for your men whatever wages you set. You know that we have no one so skilled in felling timber as the Sidonians."

5:7 When Hiram heard Solomon's message, he was greatly pleased and said, "Praise be to the LORD today, for he has given David a wise son to rule over this great nation."

5:8 So Hiram sent word to Solomon: "I have received the message you sent me and will do all you want in providing the cedar and pine logs.

5:9 My men will haul them down from Lebanon to the sea, and I will float them in rafts by sea to the place you specify. There I will separate them and you can take them away. And you are to grant my wish by providing food for my royal household."

5:10 In this way Hiram kept Solomon supplied with all the cedar and pine logs he wanted,

5:11 and Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand cors of wheat as food for his household, in addition to twenty thousand baths of pressed olive oil. Solomon continued to do this for Hiram year after year.

5:12 The LORD gave Solomon wisdom, just as he had promised him. There were peaceful relations between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.

5:13 King Solomon conscripted laborers from all Israel--thirty thousand men.

5:14 He sent them off to Lebanon in shifts of ten thousand a month, so that they spent one month in Lebanon and two months at home. Adoniram was in charge of the forced labor.

5:15 Solomon had seventy thousand carriers and eighty thousand stonecutters in the hills,

5:16 as well as thirty-three hundred foremen who supervised the project and directed the workmen.

5:17 At the king's command they removed from the quarry large blocks of quality stone to provide a foundation of dressed stone for the temple.

5:18 The craftsmen of Solomon and Hiram and the men of Gebal cut and prepared the timber and stone for the building of the temple.

Ephesians 2.

2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,

2:2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

2:3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

2:4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,

2:5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.

2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

2:7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--

2:9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

2:11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)--

2:12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

2:14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,

2:15 by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace,

2:16 and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.

2:17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.

2:18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

2:19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household,

2:20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

2:21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.

2:22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Ezekiel 35.

35:1 The word of the LORD came to me:

35:2 "Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir; prophesy against it

35:3 and say: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against you, Mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against you and make you a desolate waste.

35:4 I will turn your towns into ruins and you will be desolate. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

35:5 "'Because you harbored an ancient hostility and delivered the Israelites over to the sword at the time of their calamity, the time their punishment reached its climax,

35:6 therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I will give you over to bloodshed and it will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you.

35:7 I will make Mount Seir a desolate waste and cut off from it all who come and go.

35:8 I will fill your mountains with the slain; those killed by the sword will fall on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines.

35:9 I will make you desolate forever; your towns will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

35:10 "'Because you have said, "These two nations and countries will be ours and we will take possession of them," even though I the LORD was there,

35:11 therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I will treat you in accordance with the anger and jealousy you showed in your hatred of them and I will make myself known among them when I judge you.

35:12 Then you will know that I the LORD have heard all the contemptible things you have said against the mountains of Israel. You said, "They have been laid waste and have been given over to us to devour."

35:13 You boasted against me and spoke against me without restraint, and I heard it.

35:14 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: While the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate.

35:15 Because you rejoiced when the inheritance of the house of Israel became desolate, that is how I will treat you. You will be desolate, O Mount Seir, you and all of Edom. Then they will know that I am the LORD.'"

Psalms 85.

85:1 You showed favor to your land, O LORD; you restored the fortunes of Jacob.

85:2 You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. Selah

85:3 You set aside all your wrath and turned from your fierce anger.

85:4 Restore us again, O God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us.

85:5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations?

85:6 Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

85:7 Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation.

85:8 I will listen to what God the LORD will say; he promises peace to his people, his saints--but let them not return to folly.

85:9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.

85:10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.

85:11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.

85:12 The LORD will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest.

85:13 Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps.
