열왕기상 14 장.

왕상14:1 그 때에 여로보암의 아들 아비야가 병든지라

왕상14:2 여로보암이 자기 아내에게 이르되 청하건대 일어나 변장하여 사람들이 그대가 여로보암의 아내임을 알지 못하게 하고 실로로 가라 거기 선지자 아히야가 있나니 그는 이전에 내가 이 백성의 왕이 될 것을 내게 말한 사람이니라

왕상14:3 그대의 손에 떡 열 개와 과자와 꿀 한 병을 가지고 그에게로 가라 그가 그대에게 이 아이가 어떻게 될지를 알게 하리라

왕상14:4 여로보암의 아내가 그대로 하여 일어나 실로로 가서 아히야의 집에 이르니 아히야는 나이가 많아 눈이 어두워 보지 못하더라

왕상14:5 여호와께서 아히야에게 이르시되 여로보암의 아내가 자기 아들이 병 들었으므로 네게 물으러 오나니 너는 이러이러하게 대답하라 그가 들어올 때에 다른 사람인 체함이니라

왕상14:6 그가 문으로 들어올 때에 아히야가 그 발소리를 듣고 말하되 여로보암의 아내여 들어오라 네가 어찌하여 다른 사람인 체하느냐 내가 명령을 받아 흉한 일을 네게 전하리니

왕상14:7 가서 여로보암에게 말하라 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와의 말씀이 내가 너를 백성 중에서 들어 내 백성 이스라엘의 주권자가 되게 하고

왕상14:8 나라를 다윗의 집에서 찢어내어 네게 주었거늘 너는 내 종 다윗이 내 명령을 지켜 전심으로 나를 따르며 나 보기에 정직한 일만 행하였음과 같지 아니하고

왕상14:9 네 이전 사람들보다도 더 악을 행하고 가서 너를 위하여 다른 신을 만들며 우상을 부어 만들어 나를 노엽게 하고 나를 네 등 뒤에 버렸도다

왕상14:10 그러므로 내가 여로보암의 집에 재앙을 내려 여로보암에게 속한 사내는 이스라엘 가운데 매인 자나 놓인 자나 다 끊어 버리되 거름더미를 쓸어버림 같이 여로보암의 집을 말갛게 쓸어버릴지라

왕상14:11 여로보암에게 속한 자가 성읍에서 죽은즉 개가 먹고 들에서 죽은즉 공중의 새가 먹으리니 이는 여호와께서 말씀하셨음이니라 하셨나니

왕상14:12 너는 일어나 네 집으로 가라 네 발이 성읍에 들어갈 때에 그 아이가 죽을지라

왕상14:13 온 이스라엘이 그를 위하여 슬퍼하며 장사하려니와 여로보암에게 속한 자는 오직 이 아이만 묘실에 들어가리니 이는 여로보암의 집 가운데에서 그가 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 향하여 선한 뜻을 품었음이니라

왕상14:14 여호와께서 이스라엘 위에 한 왕을 일으키신즉 그가 그 날에 여로보암의 집을 끊어 버리리라 언제냐 하니 곧 이제라

왕상14:15 여호와께서 이스라엘을 쳐서 물에서 흔들리는 갈대 같이 되게 하시고 이스라엘을 그의 조상들에게 주신 이 좋은 땅에서 뽑아 그들을 강 너머로 흩으시리니 그들이 아세라 상을 만들어 여호와를 진노하게 하였음이니라

왕상14:16 여호와께서 여로보암의 죄로 말미암아 이스라엘을 버리시리니 이는 그도 범죄하고 이스라엘로 범죄하게 하였음이니라 하니라

왕상14:17 여로보암의 아내가 일어나 디르사로 돌아가서 집 문지방에 이를 때에 그 아이가 죽은지라

왕상14:18 온 이스라엘이 그를 장사하고 그를 위하여 슬퍼하니 여호와께서 그의 종 선지자 아히야를 통하여 하신 말씀과 같이 되었더라

왕상14:19 여로보암의 그 남은 행적 곧 그가 어떻게 싸웠는지와 어떻게 다스렸는지는 이스라엘 왕 역대지략에 기록되니라

왕상14:20 여로보암이 왕이 된 지 이십이 년이라 그가 그의 조상들과 함께 자매 그의 아들 나답이 대신하여 왕이 되니라

왕상14:21 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암은 유다 왕이 되었으니 르호보암이 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 사십일 세라 여호와께서 자기 이름을 두시려고 이스라엘 모든 지파 가운데에서 택하신 성읍 예루살렘에서 십칠 년 동안 다스리니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 나아마요 암몬 사람이더라

왕상14:22 유다가 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하되 그의 조상들이 행한 모든 일보다 뛰어나게 하여 그 범한 죄로 여호와를 노엽게 하였으니

왕상14:23 이는 그들도 산 위에와 모든 푸른 나무 아래에 산당과 우상과 아세라 상을 세웠음이라

왕상14:24 그 땅에 또 남색하는 자가 있었고 여호와께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 쫓아내신 국민의 모든 가증한 일을 무리가 본받아 행하였더라

왕상14:25 르호보암 왕 제오년에 애굽의 왕 시삭이 올라와서 예루살렘을 치고

왕상14:26 여호와의 성전의 보물과 왕궁의 보물을 모두 빼앗고 또 솔로몬이 만든 금 방패를 다 빼앗은지라

왕상14:27 르호보암 왕이 그 대신 놋으로 방패를 만들어 왕궁 문을 지키는 시위대 대장의 손에 맡기매

왕상14:28 왕이 여호와의 성전에 들어갈 때마다 시위하는 자가 그 방패를 들고 갔다가 시위소로 도로 가져갔더라

왕상14:29 르호보암의 남은 사적과 그가 행한 모든 일은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

왕상14:30 르호보암과 여로보암 사이에 항상 전쟁이 있으니라

왕상14:31 르호보암이 그의 조상들과 함께 자니 그의 조상들과 함께 다윗 성에 장사되니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 나아마요 암몬 사람이더라 그의 아들 아비얌이 대신하여 왕이 되니라

골로새서 1 장.

골1:1 하나님의 뜻으로 말미암아 그리스도 예수의 사도 된 바울과 형제 디모데는

골1:2 골로새에 있는 성도들 곧 그리스도 안에서 신실한 형제들에게 편지하노니 우리 아버지 하나님으로부터 은혜와 평강이 너희에게 있을지어다

골1:3 우리가 너희를 위하여 기도할 때마다 하나님 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께 감사하노라

골1:4 이는 그리스도 예수 안에 너희의 믿음과 모든 성도에 대한 사랑을 들었음이요

골1:5 너희를 위하여 하늘에 쌓아 둔 소망으로 말미암음이니 곧 너희가 전에 복음 진리의 말씀을 들은 것이라

골1:6 이 복음이 이미 너희에게 이르매 너희가 듣고 참으로 하나님의 은혜를 깨달은 날부터 너희 중에서와 같이 또한 온 천하에서도 열매를 맺어 자라는도다

골1:7 이와 같이 우리와 함께 종 된 사랑하는 에바브라에게 너희가 배웠나니 그는 너희를 위한 그리스도의 신실한 일꾼이요

골1:8 성령 안에서 너희 사랑을 우리에게 알린 자니라

골1:9 이로써 우리도 듣던 날부터 너희를 위하여 기도하시를 그치지 아니하고 구하노니 너희로 하여금 모든 신령한 지혜와 총명에 하나님의 뜻을 아는 것으로 채우게 하시고

골1:10 주께 합당하게 행하여 범사에 기쁘시게 하고 모든 선한 일에 열매를 맺게 하시며 하나님을 아는 것에 자라게 하시고

골1:11 그의 영광의 힘을 따라 모든 능력으로 능하게 하시며 기쁨으로 모든 견딤과 오래 참음에 이르게 하시고

골1:12 우리로 하여금 빛 가운데서 성도의 기업의 부분을 얻기에 합당하게 하신 아버지께 감사하게 하시기를 원하노라

골1:13 그가 우리를 흑암의 권세에서 건져내사 그의 사랑의 아들의 나라로 옮기셨으니

골1:14 그 아들 안에서 우리가 속량 곧 죄 사함을 얻었도다

골1:15 그는 보이지 아니하는 하나님의 형상이시오 모든 피조물보다 먼저 나신 이시니

골1:16 만물이 그에게서 창조되되 하늘과 땅에서 보이는 것들과 보이지 않는 것들과 혹은 왕권들이나 주권들이나 통치자들이나 권세들이나 만물이 다 그로 말미암고 그를 위하여 창조되었고

골1:17 또한 그가 만물보다 먼저 계시고 만물이 그 안에 함게 섰느니라

골1:18 그는 몸인 교회의 머리시라 그가 근본이시오 죽은 자들 가운에서 먼저 나신 이시니 이는 친히 만물의 으뜸이 되려 하심이요

골1:19 아버지께서는 모든 충만으로 예수 안에 거하게 하시고

골1:20 그의 십자가의 피로 화평을 이루사 만물 곧 땅에 있는 것들이나 하늘에 있는 것들이 그로 말미암아 자기와 화목하게 되기를 기뻐하심이라

골1:21 전에 악한 행실로 멀리 떠나 마음으로 원수가 되었던 너희를

골1:22 이제는 그의 육체의 죽음으로 말미암아 화목하게 하사 너희를 거룩하고 흠 없고 책망할 것이 없는 자로 그 앞에 세우고자 하셨으니

골1:23 만일 너희가 믿음에 거하고 터 위에 굳게 서서 너희 들은 바 복음의 소망에서 흔들리지 아니하면 그리하리라 이 복음은 천하 만민에게 전파된 바요 나 바울은 이 복음의 일꾼이 되었노라

골1:24 나는 이제 너희를 위하여 받는 괴로움을 기뻐하고 그리스도의 남은 고난을 그의 몸 된 교회를 위하여 내 육체에 채우노라

골1:25 내가 교회의 일꾼 된 것은 하나님이 너희를 위하여 내게 주신 직분을 따라 하나님의 말씀을 이루려 함이니라

골1:26 이 비밀은 만세와 만대로부터 감추어졌던 것인데 이제는 그의 성도들에게 나타났고

골1:27 하나님이 그들로 하여금 이 비밀의 영광이 이방인 가운데 얼마나 풍성한지를 알게 하려 하심이라 이 비밀은 너희 안에 계신 그리스도시니 곧 영광의 소망이니라

골1:28 우리가 그를 전파하여 각 사람을 권하고 모든 지혜로 각 사람을 가르침은 각 사람을 그리스도 안에서 완전한 자로 세우려 함이니

골1:29 이를 위하여 나도 내 속에서 능력으로 역사하시는 이의 역사를 따라 힘을 다하여 수고하노라

에스겔 44 장.

겔44:1 그가 나를 데리고 성소의 동쪽을 향한 바깥문에 돌아오시니 그 문이 닫혔더라

겔44:2 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 이 문은 닫고 다시 열지 못할지니 아무도 그리로 들어오지 못할 것은 이스라엘 하나님 나 여호와가 그리로 들어왔음이라 그러므로 닫아 둘지니라

겔44:3 왕은 왕인 까닭에 안 길로 이 문 현관으로 들어와서 거기에 앉아서 나 여호와 앞에서 음식을 먹고 그 길로 나갈 것이니라

겔44:4 그가 또 나를 데리고 북문을 통하여 성전 앞에 이르시기로 내가 보니 여호와의 영광이 여 호와의 성전에 가득한지라 내가 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드리니

겔44:5 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 인자야 너는 전심으로 주목하여 내가 네게 말하는 바 여호와의 성전의 모든 규례와 모든 율례를 귀로 듣고 또 성전의 입구와 성소의 출구를 전심으로 주목하고

겔44:6 너는 반역하는 자 곧 이스라엘 족속에게 이르기를 주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 이스라엘 족속아 너희의 모든 가증한 일이 족하니라

겔44:7 너희가 자음과 몸에 할례 받지 아니한 이방인을 데려오고 내 떡과 기름과 피를 드릴 때에 그들로 내 성소 안에 있게 하여 내 성전을 더럽히므로 너희의 모든 가증한 일 외에 그들이 내 언약을 위반하게 하는 것이 되었으며

겔44:8 너희가 내 성물의 직분을 지키지 아니하고 내 성소에 사람을 두어 너희 직분을 대신 지키게 하였느니라

겔44:9 주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라 이스라엘 족속 중에 있는 이방인 중에 마음과 몸에 할례를 받지 아니한 이방인은 내 성소에 들어오지 못하리라

겔44:10 이스라엘 족속이 그릇 행하여 나를 떠날 때에 레위 사람도 그릇 행하여 그 우상을 따라 나를 멀리 떠났으니 그 죄악을 담당하리라

겔44:11 그러나 그들이 내 성소에서 수종들어 성전 문을 맡을 것이며 성전에서 수종들어 백성의 번제의 희생물과 다른 희생물을 잡아 백성 앞에 서서 수종들게 되리라

겔44:12 그들이 백성을 위하여 그 우상 앞에서 수종들어 이스라엘 족속이 죄악에 걸려 넘어지게 하였으므로 내가 내 손을 들어 쳐서 그들이 그 죄악을 담당하였느니라 주 여호와의 말씀이니라

겔44:13 그들이 내게 가까이 나아와 제사장의 직분을 행하지 못하며 또 내 성물 곧 지성물에 가까이 오지 못하리니 그들이 자기의 수치와 그 행한 바 가증한 일을 담당하리라

겔44:14 그러나 내가 그들을 세워 성전을 지키게 하고 성전에 모든 수종드는 일과 그 가운데에서 행하는 모든 일을 맡기리라

겔44:15 이스라엘 족속이 그릇 행하여 나를 떠날 때에 사독의 자손 레위 사람 제사장들은 내 성소의 직분을 지켰은즉 그들은 내게 가까이 나아와 수종을 들되 내 앞에 서서 기름과 피를 내게 드릴지니라 주 여호와의 말씀이니라

겔44:16 그들이 내 성소에 들어오며 또 내 상에 가까이 나아와 내게 수종들어 내가 맡긴 직분을 지키되

겔44:17 그들이 안뜰 문에 들어올 때에나 안뜰 문과 성전 안에서 수종들 때에는 양털 옷을 입지 말고 가는 베 옷을 입을 것이니

겔44:18 가는 베 관을 머리에 쓰며 가는 베 바지를 입고 땀이 나게 하는 것으로 허리를 동이지 말 것이며

겔44:19 그들이 바깥뜰 백성에게로 나갈 때에는 수종드는 옷을 벗어 거룩한 방에 두고 다른 옷을 입을 지니 이는 그 옷으로 백성을 거룩하게 할까 함이라

겔44:20 그들은 또 머리털을 밀지도 말며 머리털을 길게 자라게도 말고 그 머리털을 깎기만 할 것이며

겔44:21 아무 제사장이든지 안뜰에 들어 갈 때에는 포도주를 마시지 말 것이며

겔44:22 과부나 이혼한 여인에게 장가들지 말고 오직 이스라엘 족속의 처녀나 혹시 제사장의 과부에게 장가 들 것이며

겔44:23 내 백성에게 거룩한 것과 속된 것의 구별을 가르치며 부정한 것과 정한 것을 분별하게 할 것이며

겔44:24 송사하는 일을 재판하되 내 규례대로 재판할 것이며 내 모든 정한 절기에는 내 법도와 율례를 지킬 것이며 또 내 안식일을 거룩하게 하며

겔44:25 시체를 가까이 하여 스스로 더럽히지 못할 것이로되 부모나 자녀나 형제나 시집가지 아니한 자매를 위하여는 더럽힐 수 있으며

겔44:26 이런 자는 스스로 정결하게 한 후에 칠 일을 더 지낼 것이요

겔44:27 성소에서 수종들기 위해 안뜰과 성소에 들어갈 때에는 속죄제를 드릴지니라 주 여호와의 말씀이니라

겔44:28 그들에게는 기업이 있으리니 내가 곧 그 기업이라 너희는 이스라엘 가운데에서 그들에게 산업을 주지 말라 내가 그 산업이 됨이라

겔44:29 그들은 소제와 속죄제와 속건제의 제물을 먹을지니 이스라엘 중에서 구별하여 드리는 물건을 다 그들에게 돌리며

겔44:30 또 각종 처음 익은 열매와 너희 모든 예물 중에 각종 거제 제물을 다 제사장에게 돌리고 너희가 또 첫 밀가루를 제사장에게 주어 그들에게 네 집에 복이 내리도록 하게 하라

겔44:31 새나 가축이 저절로 죽은 것이나 찢겨서 죽은 것은 다 제사장이 먹지 말 것이니라

시편 97 장.

시97:1 여호와께서 다스리시나니 땅은 즐거워하며 허다한 섬은 기뻐할지어다

시97:2 구름과 흑암이 그를 둘렀고 공의와 정의가 그의 보좌의 기초로다

시97:3 불이 그의 앞에서 나와 사방의 대적들을 불사르시는도다

시97:4 그의 번개가 세계를 비추니 땅이 보고 떨었도다

시97:5 산들이 여호와의 앞 곧 온 땅의 주 앞에서 밀랍 같이 녹았도다

시97:6 하늘이 그의 의를 선포하니 모든 백성이 그의 영광을 보았도다

시97:7 조각한 신상을 섬기며 허무한 것으로 자랑하는 자는 다 수치를 당할 것이라 너희 신들아 여호와께 경배할지어다

시97:8 여호와여 시온이 주의 심판을 듣고 기뻐하며 유다의 딸들이 즐거워하였나이다

시97:9 여호와여 주는 온 땅 위에 지존하시고 모든 신들보다 위에 계시니이다

시97:10 여호와를 사랑하는 너희여 악을 미워하라 그가 그의 성도의 영혼을 보전하사 악인의 손에서 건지시느니라

시97:11 의인을 위하여 빛을 뿌리고 마음이 정직한 자를 위하여 기쁨을 뿌리시는도다

시97:12 의인이여 너희는 여호와로 말미암아 기뻐하며 그의 거룩한 이름에 감사할지어다

시편 98 장.

시98:1 새 노래로 여호와께 찬송하라 그는 기이한 일을 행하사 그의 오른손과 거룩한 팔로 자기를 위하여 구원을 베푸셨음이로다

시98:2 여호와께서 그의 구원을 알게 하시며 그의 공의를 뭇 나라의 목전에서 명백히 나타내셨도다

시98:3 그가 이스라엘의 집에 베푸신 인자와 성실을 기억하셨으므로 땅 끝까지 이르는 모든 것이 우리 하나님의 구원을 보았도다

시98:4 온 땅이여 여호와께 즐거이 소리칠지어다 소리 내어 즐겁게 노래하며 찬송할지어다

시98:5 수금으로 여호와를 노래하라 수금과 음성으로 노래할지어다

시98:6 나팔과 호각 소리로 왕이신 여호와 앞에 즐겁게 소리칠지어다

시98:7 바다와 거기 충만한 것과 세계와 그 중에 거주하는 자는 다 외칠지어다

시98:8 여호와 앞에서 큰 물은 박수할지어다 산악이 함께 즐겁게 노래할지어다

시98:9 그가 땅을 심판하러 임하실 것임이로다 그가 의로 세계를 판단하시며 공평으로 그의 백성을 심판하시리로다

1 Kings 14.

14:1 At that time Abijah son of Jeroboam became ill,

14:2 and Jeroboam said to his wife, "Go, disguise yourself, so you won't be recognized as the wife of Jeroboam. Then go to Shiloh. Ahijah the prophet is there--the one who told me I would be king over this people.

14:3 Take ten loaves of bread with you, some cakes and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will happen to the boy."

14:4 So Jeroboam's wife did what he said and went to Ahijah's house in Shiloh. Now Ahijah could not see; his sight was gone because of his age.

14:5 But the LORD had told Ahijah, "Jeroboam's wife is coming to ask you about her son, for he is ill, and you are to give her such and such an answer. When she arrives, she will pretend to be someone else."

14:6 So when Ahijah heard the sound of her footsteps at the door, he said, "Come in, wife of Jeroboam. Why this pretense? I have been sent to you with bad news.

14:7 Go, tell Jeroboam that this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'I raised you up from among the people and made you a leader over my people Israel.

14:8 I tore the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it to you, but you have not been like my servant David, who kept my commands and followed me with all his heart, doing only what was right in my eyes.

14:9 You have done more evil than all who lived before you. You have made for yourself other gods, idols made of metal; you have provoked me to anger and thrust me behind your back.

14:10 "'Because of this, I am going to bring disaster on the house of Jeroboam. I will cut off from Jeroboam every last male in Israel--slave or free. I will burn up the house of Jeroboam as one burns dung, until it is all gone.

14:11 Dogs will eat those belonging to Jeroboam who die in the city, and the birds of the air will feed on those who die in the country. The LORD has spoken!'

14:12 "As for you, go back home. When you set foot in your city, the boy will die.

14:13 All Israel will mourn for him and bury him. He is the only one belonging to Jeroboam who will be buried, because he is the only one in the house of Jeroboam in whom the LORD, the God of Israel, has found anything good.

14:14 "The LORD will raise up for himself a king over Israel who will cut off the family of Jeroboam. This is the day! What? Yes, even now.

14:15 And the LORD will strike Israel, so that it will be like a reed swaying in the water. He will uproot Israel from this good land that he gave to their forefathers and scatter them beyond the River, because they provoked the LORD to anger by making Asherah poles.

14:16 And he will give Israel up because of the sins Jeroboam has committed and has caused Israel to commit."

14:17 Then Jeroboam's wife got up and left and went to Tirzah. As soon as she stepped over the threshold of the house, the boy died.

14:18 They buried him, and all Israel mourned for him, as the LORD had said through his servant the prophet Ahijah.

14:19 The other events of Jeroboam's reign, his wars and how he ruled, are written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel.

14:20 He reigned for twenty-two years and then rested with his fathers. And Nadab his son succeeded him as king.

14:21 Rehoboam son of Solomon was king in Judah. He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel in which to put his Name. His mother's name was Naamah; she was an Ammonite.

14:22 Judah did evil in the eyes of the LORD. By the sins they committed they stirred up his jealous anger more than their fathers had done.

14:23 They also set up for themselves high places, sacred stones and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every spreading tree.

14:24 There were even male shrine prostitutes in the land; the people engaged in all the detestable practices of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.

14:25 In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem.

14:26 He carried off the treasures of the temple of the LORD and the treasures of the royal palace. He took everything, including all the gold shields Solomon had made.

14:27 So King Rehoboam made bronze shields to replace them and assigned these to the commanders of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal palace.

14:28 Whenever the king went to the LORD'S temple, the guards bore the shields, and afterward they returned them to the guardroom.

14:29 As for the other events of Rehoboam's reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

14:30 There was continual warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.

14:31 And Rehoboam rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David. His mother's name was Naamah; she was an Ammonite. And Abijah his son succeeded him as king.

Colossians 1.

1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

1:2 To the holy and faithful brothers in Christ at Colosse: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.

1:3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,

1:4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints--

1:5 the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel

1:6 that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth.

1:7 You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,

1:8 and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

1:9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

1:10 And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

1:11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully

1:12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

1:13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,

1:14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

1:16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.

1:17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

1:19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,

1:20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

1:21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.

1:22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation--

1:23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

1:24 Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.

1:25 I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness--

1:26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints.

1:27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

1:28 We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.

1:29 To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.

Ezekiel 44.

44:1 Then the man brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary, the one facing east, and it was shut.

44:2 The LORD said to me, "This gate is to remain shut. It must not be opened; no one may enter through it. It is to remain shut because the LORD, the God of Israel, has entered through it.

44:3 The prince himself is the only one who may sit inside the gateway to eat in the presence of the LORD. He is to enter by way of the portico of the gateway and go out the same way."

44:4 Then the man brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the temple. I looked and saw the glory of the LORD filling the temple of the LORD, and I fell facedown.

44:5 The LORD said to me, "Son of man, look carefully, listen closely and give attention to everything I tell you concerning all the regulations regarding the temple of the LORD. Give attention to the entrance of the temple and all the exits of the sanctuary.

44:6 Say to the rebellious house of Israel, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Enough of your detestable practices, O house of Israel!

44:7 In addition to all your other detestable practices, you brought foreigners uncircumcised in heart and flesh into my sanctuary, desecrating my temple while you offered me food, fat and blood, and you broke my covenant.

44:8 Instead of carrying out your duty in regard to my holy things, you put others in charge of my sanctuary.

44:9 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and flesh is to enter my sanctuary, not even the foreigners who live among the Israelites.

44:10 "'The Levites who went far from me when Israel went astray and who wandered from me after their idols must bear the consequences of their sin.

44:11 They may serve in my sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and serving in it; they may slaughter the burnt offerings and sacrifices for the people and stand before the people and serve them.

44:12 But because they served them in the presence of their idols and made the house of Israel fall into sin, therefore I have sworn with uplifted hand that they must bear the consequences of their sin, declares the Sovereign LORD.

44:13 They are not to come near to serve me as priests or come near any of my holy things or my most holy offerings; they must bear the shame of their detestable practices.

44:14 Yet I will put them in charge of the duties of the temple and all the work that is to be done in it.

44:15 "'But the priests, who are Levites and descendants of Zadok and who faithfully carried out the duties of my sanctuary when the Israelites went astray from me, are to come near to minister before me; they are to stand before me to offer sacrifices of fat and blood, declares the Sovereign LORD.

44:16 They alone are to enter my sanctuary; they alone are to come near my table to minister before me and perform my service.

44:17 "'When they enter the gates of the inner court, they are to wear linen clothes; they must not wear any woolen garment while ministering at the gates of the inner court or inside the temple.

44:18 They are to wear linen turbans on their heads and linen undergarments around their waists. They must not wear anything that makes them perspire.

44:19 When they go out into the outer court where the people are, they are to take off the clothes they have been ministering in and are to leave them in the sacred rooms, and put on other clothes, so that they do not consecrate the people by means of their garments.

44:20 "'They must not shave their heads or let their hair grow long, but they are to keep the hair of their heads trimmed.

44:21 No priest is to drink wine when he enters the inner court.

44:22 They must not marry widows or divorced women; they may marry only virgins of Israelite descent or widows of priests.

44:23 They are to teach my people the difference between the holy and the common and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.

44:24 "'In any dispute, the priests are to serve as judges and decide it according to my ordinances. They are to keep my laws and my decrees for all my appointed feasts, and they are to keep my Sabbaths holy.

44:25 "'A priest must not defile himself by going near a dead person; however, if the dead person was his father or mother, son or daughter, brother or unmarried sister, then he may defile himself.

44:26 After he is cleansed, he must wait seven days.

44:27 On the day he goes into the inner court of the sanctuary to minister in the sanctuary, he is to offer a sin offering for himself, declares the Sovereign LORD.

44:28 "'I am to be the only inheritance the priests have. You are to give them no possession in Israel; I will be their possession.

44:29 They will eat the grain offerings, the sin offerings and the guilt offerings; and everything in Israel devoted to the LORD will belong to them.

44:30 The best of all the firstfruits and of all your special gifts will belong to the priests. You are to give them the first portion of your ground meal so that a blessing may rest on your household.

44:31 The priests must not eat anything, bird or animal, found dead or torn by wild animals.

Psalms 97.

97:1 The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice.

97:2 Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

97:3 Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side.

97:4 His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles.

97:5 The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth.

97:6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory.

97:7 All who worship images are put to shame, those who boast in idols--worship him, all you gods!

97:8 Zion hears and rejoices and the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments, O LORD.

97:9 For you, O LORD, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.

97:10 Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

97:11 Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.

97:12 Rejoice in the LORD, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.

Psalms 98.

98:1 Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.

98:2 The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations.

98:3 He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

98:4 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music;

98:5 make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing,

98:6 with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn--shout for joy before the LORD, the King.

98:7 Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.

98:8 Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy;

98:9 let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.
