역대하 2 장.

대하2:1 솔로몬이 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 건축하고 자기 왕위를 위하여 궁궐 건축하기를 결심하니라

대하2:2 솔로몬이 이에 짐꾼 칠만 명과 산에서 돌을 떠낼 자 팔만 명과 일을 감독할 자 삼천 육백 명을 뽑고

대하2:3 솔로몬이 사절을 두로 왕 후람에게 보내어 이르되 당신이 전에 내 아버지 다윗에게 백향목을 보내어 그가 거주하실 궁궐을 건축하게 한 것 같이 내게도 그리 하소서

대하2:4 이제 내가 나의 하나님 여호와의 이름을 위하여 성전을 건축하여 구별하여 드리고 주 앞에서 향 재료를 사르며 항상 떡을 차려 놓으며 안식일과 초하루와 우리 하나님 여호와의 절기에 아침 저녁으로 번제를 드리려 하오니 이는 이스라엘의 영원한 규례니이다

대하2:5 내가 건축하고자 하는 성전은 크니 우리 하나님은 모든 신들보다 크심이라

대하2:6 누가 능히 하나님을 위하여 성전을 건축하리요 하늘과 하늘들의 하늘이라도 주를 용납하지 못하겠거든 내가 누구이기에 어찌 능히 그를 위하여 성전을 건축하리요 그 앞에 분향하려 할 따름이니이다

대하2:7 이제 청하건대 당신은 금, 은, 동, 철로 제조하며 자색 홍색 청색 실로 직조하며 또 아로새길줄 아는 재주 있는 사람 하나를 내게 보내어 내 아버지 다윗이 유다와 예루살렘에서 준비한 나의 재주 있는 사람들과 함께 일하게 하고

대하2:8 또 레바논에서 백향목과 잣나무와 백단목을 내게로 보내소서 내가 알거니와 당신의 종은 레바논에서 벌목을 잘 하나니 내 종들이 당신의 종들을 도울지라

대하2:9 이와 같이 나를 위하여 재목을 많이 준비하게 하소서 내가 건축하려 하는 성전은 크고 화려할 것이니이다

대하2:10 내가 당신의 벌목하는 종들에게 찧은 밀 이만 고르와 보리 이만 고르 포도주 이만 밧과 기름 이만 밧을 주리이다 하였더라

대하2:11 두로 왕 후람이 솔로몬에게 답장하여 이르되 여호와께서 자기 백성을 사랑하시므로 당신을 세워 그들의 왕을 삼으셨도다

대하2:12 후람이 또 이르되 천지를 지으신 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와는 송축을 받으실지로다 다윗 왕에게 지혜로운 아들을 주시고 명철과 총명을 주시사 능히 여호와를 위하여 성전을 건축하고 자기 왕위를 위하여 궁궐을 건축하게 하시도다

대하2:13 내가 이제 재주 있고 총명한 사람을 보내오니 전에 내 아버지 후람에게 속하였던 자라

대하2:14 이 사람은 단의 여자들 중 한 여인의 아들이요 그의 아버지는 두로 사람이라 능히 금, 은, 동, 철 과 돌과 나무와 자색 청색 홍색 실과 가는 베로 일을 잘하며 또 모든 아로새기는 일에 익숙하고 모든 기묘한 양식에 능한 자이니 그에게 당신의 재주 있는 사람들과 당신의 아버지 내 주 다윗의 재주 있는 사람들과 함께 일하게 하소서

대하2:15 내 주께서 말씀하신 밀과 보리와 기름과 포도주는 주의 종들에게 보내소서

대하2:16 우리가 레바논에서 당신이 쓰실 만큼 벌목하여 떼를 엮어 바다에 띄워 욥바로 보내리니 당신은 재목들을 예루살렘으로 올리소서 하였더라

대하2:17 전에 솔로몬의 아버지 다윗이 이스라엘 땅에 사는 이방 사람들을 조사하였더니 이제 솔로몬이 다시 조사하매 모두 십오만 삼천 육백 명이라

대하2:18 그 중에서 칠만 명은 짐꾼이 되게 하였고 팔만 명은 산에서 벌목하게 하였고 삼천 육백 명은 감독으로 삼아 백성들에게 일을 시키게 하였더라

요한일서 2 장.

요일2:1 나의 자녀들아 내가 이것을 너희에게 씀은 너희로 죄를 범하지 않게 하려 함이라 만일 누가 죄를 범하여도 아버지 앞에서 우리에게 대언자가 있으니 곧 의로우신 예수 그리스도시라

요일2:2 그는 우리 죄를 위한 화목 제물이니 우리만 위할 뿐 아니요 온 세상의 죄를 위하심이라

요일2:3 우리가 그의 계명을 지키면 이로써 우리가 그를 아는 줄로 알 것이요

요일2:4 그를 아노라 하고 그의 계명을 지키지 아니하는 자는 거짓말하는 자요 진리가 그 속에 있지 아니하되

요일2:5 누구든지 그의 말씀을 지키는 자는 하나님의 사랑이 참으로 그 속에서 온전하게 되었나니 이로써 우리가 그의 안에 있는 줄을 아노라

요일2:6 그의 안에 산다고 하는 자는 그가 행하시는 대로 자기도 행할지니라

요일2:7 사랑하는 자들아 내가 새 계명을 너희에게 쓰는 것이 아니라 너희가 처음부터 가진 옛 계명이니 이 옛 계명은 너희가 들은 바 말씀이거니와

요일2:8 다시 내가 너희에게 새 계명을 쓰노니 그에게와 너희에게도 참된 것이라 이는 어둠이 지나가고 참빛이 벌써 비침이니라

요일2:9 빛 가운데 있다 하면서 그 형제를 미워하는 자는 지금까지 어둠에 있는 자요

요일2:10 그의 형제를 사랑하는 자는 빛 가운데 거하여 자기 속에 거리낌이 없으나

요일2:11 그의 형제를 미워하는 자는 어둠에 있고 또 어둠에 행하며 갈 곳을 알지 못하나니 이는 그 어둠이 그의 눈을 멀게 하였음이라

요일2:12 자녀들아 내가 너희에게 쓰는 것은 너희 죄가 그의 이름으로 말미암아 사함을 받았음이요

요일2:13 아비들아 내가 너희에게 쓰는 것은 너희가 태초부터 계신 이를 알았음이요 청년들아 내가 너희에게 쓰는 것은 너희가 악한 자를 이기었음이라

요일2:14 아이들아 내가 너희에게 쓴 것은 너희가 아버지를 알았음이요 아비들아 내가 너희에게 쓴 것은 너희가 태초부터 계신 이를 알았음이요 청년들아 내가 너희에게 쓴 것은 너희가 강하고 하나님의 말씀이 너희 안에 거하시며 너희가 흉악한 자를 이기었음이라

요일2:15 이 세상이나 세상에 있는 것들을 사랑하지 말라 누구든지 세상을 사랑하면 아버지의 사랑이 그 안에 있지 아니하니

요일2:16 이는 세상에 있는 모든 것이 육신의 정욕과 안목의 정욕과 이생의 자랑이니 다 아버지께로부터 온 것이 아니요 세상으로부터 온 것이라

요일2:17 이 세상도, 그 정욕도 지나가되 오직 하나님의 뜻을 행하는 자는 영원히 거하느니라

요일2:18 아이들아 지금은 마지막 때라 적그리스도가 오리라는 말을 너희가 들은 것과 같이 지금도 많은 적그리스도가 일어났으니 그러므로 우리가 마지막 때인 줄 아노라

요일2:19 그들이 우리에게서 나갔으나 우리에게 속하지 아니하였나니 만일 우리에게 속하였더라면 우리와 함께 거하였으려니와 그들이 나간 것은 다 우리에게 속하지 아니함을 나타내려 함이니라

요일2:20 너희는 거룩하신 자에게서 기름 부음을 받고 모든 것을 아느니라

요일2:21 내가 너희에게 쓰는 것은 너희가 진리를 알지 못하기 때문이 아니라 알기 때문이요 또 모든 거짓은 진리에서 나지 않기 때문이라

요일2:22 거짓말하는 자가 누구냐 예수께서 그리스도이심을 부인하는 자가 아니냐 아버지와 아들을 부인하는 그가 적그리스도니

요일2:23 아들을 부인하는 자에게는 또한 아버지가 없으되 아들을 시인하는 자에게는 아버지도 있느니라

요일2:24 너희는 처음부터 들은 것을 너희 안에 거하게 하라 처음부터 들은 것이 너희 안에 거하면 너희가 아들과 아버지 안에 거하리라

요일2:25 그가 우리에게 약속하신 것은 이것이니 곧 영원한 생명이니라

요일2:26 너희를 미혹하는 자들에 관하여 내가 이것을 너희에게 썼노라

요일2:27 너희는 주께 받은 바 기름 부음이 너희 안에 거하나니 아무도 너희를 가르칠 필요가 없고 오직 그의 기름 부음이 모든 것을 너희에게 가르치며 또 참되고 거짓이 없으니 너희를 가르치신 그대로 주 안에 거하라

요일2:28 자녀들아 이제 그의 안에 거하라 이는 주께서 나타내신 바 되면 그가 강림하실 때에 우리로 담대함을 얻어 그 앞에서 부끄럽지 않게 하려 함이라

요일2:29 너희가 그가 의로우신 줄을 알면 의를 행하는 자마다 그에게서 난 줄을 알리라

나훔 1 장.

나1:1 니느웨에 대한 경고 곧 엘고스 사람 나훔의 묵시의 글이라

나1:2 여호와는 질투하시며 보복하시는 하나님이시니라 여호와는 보복하시며 진노하시되 자기를 거스르는 자에게 여호와는 보복하시며 자기를 대적하는 자에게 진노를 품으시며

나1:3 여호와는 노하기를 더디하시며 권능이 크시며 벌 받을 자를 결코 내버려두지 아니하시느니라 여호와의 길은 회오리바람과 광풍에 있고 구름은 그의 발의 티끌이로다

나1:4 그는 바다를 꾸짖어 그것을 말리시며 모든 강을 말리시나니 바산과 갈멜이 쇠하며 레바논의 꽃이 시드는도다

나1:5 그로 말미암아 산들이 진동하며 작은 산들이 녹고 그 앞에서는 땅 곧 세계와 그 가운데에 있는 모든 것들이 솟아오르는도다

나1:6 누가 능히 그의 분노 앞에 서며 누가 능히 그의 진노를 감당하랴 그의 진노가 불처럼 쏟아지니 그로 말미암아 바위들이 깨지는도다

나1:7 여호와는 선하시며 환난 날에 산성이시라 그는 자기에게 피하는 자들을 아시느니라

나1:8 그가 범람한 물로 그 곳을 진멸하시고 자기 대적들을 흑암으로 쫓아내시리라

나1:9 너희는 여호와께 대하여 무엇을 꾀하느냐 그가 온전히 멸하시리니 재난이 다시 일어나지 아니하리라

나1:10 가시덤불 같이 엉클어졌고 술을 마신 것같이 취한 그들은 마른 지푸라기 같이 모두 탈 것이거늘

나1:11 여호와께 악을 꾀하는 한 사람이 너희 중에서 나와서 사악한 것을 권하는도다

나1:12 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 그들이 비록 강하고 많을지라도 반드시 멸절을 당하리니 그가 없어지리라 내가 전에는 너를 괴롭혔으나 다시는 너를 괴롭히지 아니할 것이라

나1:13 이제 네게 지운 그의 멍에를 내가 깨뜨리고 네 결박을 끊으리라

나1:14 나 여호와가 네게 대하여 명령하였나니 네 이름이 다시는 전파되지 않을 것이라 내가 네 신들의 집에서 새긴 우상과 부은 우상을 멸절하며 네 무덤을 준비하리니 이는 네가 쓸모 없게 되었음이라

나1:15 볼지어다 아름다운 소식을 알리고 화평을 전하는 자의 발이 산 위에 있도다 유다야 네 절기를 지키고 네 서원을 갚을지어다 악인이 진멸되었으니 그가 다시는 네 가운데로 통행하지 아니하리로다 하시니라

누가복음 17 장.

눅17:1 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 실족하게 하는 것이 없을 수는 없으나 그렇게 하게 하는 자에게는 화로다

눅17:2 그가 이 작은 자 중의 하나를 실족하게 할진대 차라리 연자맷돌이 그 목에 매여 바다에 던져지는 것이 나으리라

눅17:3 너희는 스스로 조심하라 만일 네 형제가 죄를 범하거든 경고하고 회개하거든 용서하라

눅17:4 만일 하루에 일곱 번이라도 네게 죄를 짓고 일곱 번 네게 돌아와 내가 회개하노라 하거든 너는 용서하라 하시더라

눅17:5 사도들이 주께 여짜오되 우리에게 믿음을 더하소서 하니

눅17:6 주께서 이르시되 너희에게 겨자씨 한 알만한 믿음이 있었더라면 이 뽕나무더러 뿌리가 뽑혀 바다에 심기어라 하였을 것이요 그것이 너희에게 순종하였으리라

눅17:7 너희 중 누구에게 밭을 갈거나 양을 치거나 하는 종이 있어 밭에서 돌아오면 그더러 곧 와 앉아서 먹으라 말할 자가 있느냐

눅17:8 도리어 그더러 내 먹을 것을 준비하고 띠를 띠고 내가 먹고 마시는 동안에 수종들고 너는 그 후에 먹고 마시라 하지 않겠느냐

눅17:9 명한 대로 하였다고 종에게 감사하겠느냐

눅17:10 이와 같이 너희도 명령 받은 것을 다 행한 후에 이르기를 우리는 무익한 종이라 우리의 하여야 할 일을 한 것뿐이라 할지니라

눅17:11 예수께서 예루살렘으로 가실 때에 사마리아와 갈릴리 사이로 지나가시다가

눅17:12 한 마을에 들어가시니 나병환자 열 명이 예수를 만나 멀리 서서

눅17:13 소리를 높여 이르되 예수 선생님이여 우리를 불쌍히 여기소서 하거늘

눅17:14 보시고 이르시되 가서 제사장들에게 너희 몸을 보이라 하셨더니 그들이 가다가 깨끗함을 받은지라

눅17:15 그 중의 한 사람이 자기가 나은 것을 보고 큰 소리로 하나님께 영광을 돌리며 돌아와

눅17:16 예수의 발 아래에 엎드리어 감사하니 그는 사마리아인이라

눅17:17 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 열 사람이 다 깨끗함을 받지 아니하였느냐 그 아홉은 어디 있느냐

눅17:18 이 이방인 외에는 하나님께 영광을 돌리러 돌아온 자가 없느냐 하시고

눅17:19 그에게 이르시되 일어나 가라 네 믿음이 너를 구원하였느니라 하시더라

눅17:20 바리새인들이 하나님의 나라가 어느 때에 임하나이까 묻거늘 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 하나님의 나라는 볼 수 있게 임하는 것이 아니요

눅17:21 또 여기 있다 저기 있다고도 못하리니 하나님의 나라는 너희 안에 있느니라

눅17:22 또 제자들에게 이르시되 때가 이르리니 너희가 인자의 날 하루를 보고자 하되 보지 못하리라

눅17:23 사람이 너희에게 말하되 보라 저기 있다 보라 여기 있다 하리라 그러나 너희는 가지도 말고 따르지도 말라

눅17:24 번개가 하늘 아래 이쪽에서 번쩍이어 하늘 아래 저쪽까지 비침같이 인자도 자기 날에 그러하리라

눅17:25 그러나 그가 먼저 많은 고난을 받으며 이 세대에게 버린 바 되어야 할지니라

눅17:26 노아의 때에 된 것과 같이 인자의 때에도 그러하리라

눅17:27 노아가 방주에 들어가던 날까지 사람들이 먹고 마시고 장가 들고 시집 가더니 홍수가 나서 그들을 다 멸망시켰으며

눅17:28 또 롯의 때와 같으리니 사람들이 먹고 마시고 사고 팔고 심고 집을 짓더니

눅17:29 롯이 소돔에서 나가던 날에 하늘로부터 불과 유황이 비오듯 하여 그들을 멸망시켰느니라

눅17:30 인자가 나타나는 날에도 이러하리라

눅17:31 그 날에 만일 사람이 지붕 위에 있고 그의 세간이 그 집 안에 있으면 그것을 가지러 내려 가지 말 것이요 밭에 있는 자도 그와 같이 뒤로 돌이키지 말 것이니라

눅17:32 롯의 처를 생각하라

눅17:33 무릇 자기 목숨을 보전하고자 하는 자는 잃을 것이요 잃는 자는 살리리라

눅17:34 내가 너희에게 이르노니 그 밤에 둘이 한 자리에 누워 있으매 하나는 데려감을 얻고 하나는 버려둠을 당할 것이요

눅17:35 두 여자가 함께 맷돌을 갈고 있으매 하나는 데려감을 얻고 하나는 버려둠을 당할 것이니라

눅17:37 그들이 대답하여 이르되 주여 어디오니이까 이르시되 주검 있는 곳에는 독수리가 모이느니라 하시니라

2 Chronicles 2.

2:1 Solomon gave orders to build a temple for the Name of the LORD and a royal palace for himself.

2:2 He conscripted seventy thousand men as carriers and eighty thousand as stonecutters in the hills and thirty-six hundred as foremen over them.

2:3 Solomon sent this message to Hiram king of Tyre: "Send me cedar logs as you did for my father David when you sent him cedar to build a palace to live in.

2:4 Now I am about to build a temple for the Name of the LORD my God and to dedicate it to him for burning fragrant incense before him, for setting out the consecrated bread regularly, and for making burnt offerings every morning and evening and on Sabbaths and New Moons and at the appointed feasts of the LORD our God. This is a lasting ordinance for Israel.

2:5 "The temple I am going to build will be great, because our God is greater than all other gods.

2:6 But who is able to build a temple for him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him? Who then am I to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before him?

2:7 "Send me, therefore, a man skilled to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, and in purple, crimson and blue yarn, and experienced in the art of engraving, to work in Judah and Jerusalem with my skilled craftsmen, whom my father David provided.

2:8 "Send me also cedar, pine and algum logs from Lebanon, for I know that your men are skilled in cutting timber there. My men will work with yours

2:9 to provide me with plenty of lumber, because the temple I build must be large and magnificent.

2:10 I will give your servants, the woodsmen who cut the timber, twenty thousand cors of ground wheat, twenty thousand cors of barley, twenty thousand baths of wine and twenty thousand baths of olive oil."

2:11 Hiram king of Tyre replied by letter to Solomon: "Because the LORD loves his people, he has made you their king."

2:12 And Hiram added: "Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth! He has given King David a wise son, endowed with intelligence and discernment, who will build a temple for the LORD and a palace for himself.

2:13 "I am sending you Huram-Abi, a man of great skill,

2:14 whose mother was from Dan and whose father was from Tyre. He is trained to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, and with purple and blue and crimson yarn and fine linen. He is experienced in all kinds of engraving and can execute any design given to him. He will work with your craftsmen and with those of my lord, David your father.

2:15 "Now let my lord send his servants the wheat and barley and the olive oil and wine he promised,

2:16 and we will cut all the logs from Lebanon that you need and will float them in rafts by sea down to Joppa. You can then take them up to Jerusalem."

2:17 Solomon took a census of all the aliens who were in Israel, after the census his father David had taken; and they were found to be 153,600.

2:18 He assigned 70,000 of them to be carriers and 80,000 to be stonecutters in the hills, with 3,600 foremen over them to keep the people working.

1 John 2.

2:1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

2:2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

2:3 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.

2:4 The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

2:5 But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him:

2:6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

2:7 Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard.

2:8 Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

2:9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness.

2:10 Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble.

2:11 But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.

2:12 I write to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.

2:13 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, dear children, because you have known the Father.

2:14 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

2:15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

2:16 For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world.

2:17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

2:18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

2:19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.

2:21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth.

2:22 Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist--he denies the Father and the Son.

2:23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

2:24 See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.

2:25 And this is what he promised us--even eternal life.

2:26 I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray.

2:27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has taught you, remain in him.

2:28 And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

2:29 If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.

Nahum 1.

1:1 An oracle concerning Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.

1:2 The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance and is filled with wrath. The LORD takes vengeance on his foes and maintains his wrath against his enemies.

1:3 The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet.

1:4 He rebukes the sea and dries it up; he makes all the rivers run dry. Bashan and Carmel wither and the blossoms of Lebanon fade.

1:5 The mountains quake before him and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, the world and all who live in it.

1:6 Who can withstand his indignation? Who can endure his fierce anger? His wrath is poured out like fire; the rocks are shattered before him.

1:7 The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,

1:8 but with an overwhelming flood he will make an end of Nineveh; he will pursue his foes into darkness.

1:9 Whatever they plot against the LORD he will bring to an end; trouble will not come a second time.

1:10 They will be entangled among thorns and drunk from their wine; they will be consumed like dry stubble.

1:11 From you, O Nineveh, has one come forth who plots evil against the LORD and counsels wickedness.

1:12 This is what the LORD says: "Although they have allies and are numerous, they will be cut off and pass away. Although I have afflicted you, O Judah, I will afflict you no more.

1:13 Now I will break their yoke from your neck and tear your shackles away."

1:14 The LORD has given a command concerning you, Nineveh: "You will have no descendants to bear your name. I will destroy the carved images and cast idols that are in the temple of your gods. I will prepare your grave, for you are vile."

1:15 Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace! Celebrate your festivals, O Judah, and fulfill your vows. No more will the wicked invade you; they will be completely destroyed.

Luke 17.

17:1 Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come.

17:2 It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.

17:3 So watch yourselves. "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.

17:4 If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, 'I repent,' forgive him."

17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"

17:6 He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.

17:7 "Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, 'Come along now and sit down to eat'?

17:8 Would he not rather say, 'Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink'?

17:9 Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do?

17:10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.'"

17:11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee.

17:12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance

17:13 and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"

17:14 When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.

17:15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.

17:16 He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him--and he was a Samaritan.

17:17 Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?

17:18 Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?"

17:19 Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well."

17:20 Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation,

17:21 nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."

17:22 Then he said to his disciples, "The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.

17:23 Men will tell you, 'There he is!' or 'Here he is!' Do not go running off after them.

17:24 For the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other.

17:25 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

17:26 "Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.

17:27 People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

17:28 "It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.

17:29 But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

17:30 "It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.

17:31 On that day no one who is on the roof of his house, with his goods inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything.

17:32 Remember Lot's wife!

17:33 Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.

17:34 I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left.

17:35 Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left."

17:37 "Where, Lord?" they asked. He replied, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather."
