역대하 18 장.

대하18:1 여호사밧이 부귀와 영광을 크게 떨쳤고 아합 가문과 혼인함으로 인척 관계를 맺었더라

대하18:2 이 년 후에 그가 사마리아의 아합에게 내려갔더니 아합이 그와 시종을 위하여 양과 소를 많이 잡고 함께 가서 길르맛 라못 치기를 권하였더라

대하18:3 이스라엘 왕 아합이 유다 왕 여호사밧에게 이르되 당신이 나와 함께 길르앗 라못으로 가시겠느냐 하니 여호사밧이 대답하되 나는 당신과 다름이 없고 내 백성은 당신의 백성과 다름이 없으니 당신과 함께 싸우리이다 하는지라

대하18:4 여호사밧이 또 이스라엘 왕에게 이르되 청하건대 먼저 여호와의 말씀이 어떠하신지 오늘 물어 보소서 하더라

대하18:5 이스라엘 왕이 이에 선지자 사백명을 모으고 그들에게 이르되 우리가 길르앗 라못에 가서 싸우랴 말랴 하니 그들이 이르되 올라가소서 하나님이 그 성읍을 왕의 손에 붙이시리이다 하더라

대하18:6 여호사밧이 이르되 이 외에 우리가 물을 만한 여호와의 선지자가 여기 있지 아니하니이까 하니

대하18:7 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 아직도 이믈라의 아들 미가야 한 사람이 있으니 그로 말미암아 여호와께 물을 수 있으나 그는 내게 대하여 좋은 일로는 예언하지 아니하고 항상 나쁜 일로만 예언하기로 내가 그를 미워하나이다 하더라 여호사밧이 이르되 왕은 그런 말씀을 마소서 하니

대하18:8 이스라엘 왕이 한 내시를 불러 이르되 이믈라의 아들 미가야를 속히 오게 하라 하니라

대하18:9 이스라엘 왕과 유다 왕 여호사밧이 왕복을 입고 사마리아 성문 어귀 광장에서 각기 보좌에 앉았고 여러 선지자들이 그 앞에서 예언을 하는데

대하18:10 그나아나의 아들 시드기야는 철로 뿔들을 만들어 가지고 말하되 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 왕이 이것들로 아람 사람을 찔러 진멸하리라 하셨다 하고

대하18:11 여러 선지자들도 그와 같이 예언하여 이르기를 길르앗 라못으로 올라가서 승리를 거두소서 여호와께서 그 성읍을 왕의 손에 넘기시리이다 하더라

대하18:12 미가야를 부르러 간 사자가 그에게 말하여 이르되 선지자들의 말이 하나 같이 왕에게 좋게 말하니 청하건대 당신의 말도 그들 중 한 사람처럼 좋게 말하소서 하니

대하18:13 미가야가 이르되 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내 하나님께서 말씀하시는 것 곧 그것을 내가 말하리라 하고

대하18:14 이에 왕에게 이르니 왕이 그에게 이르되 미가야야 우리가 길르앗 라못으로 싸우러 가랴 말랴 하는 지라 이르되 올라가서 승리를 거두소서 그들이 왕의 손에 넘긴 바 되리이다 하니

대하18:15 왕이 그에게 이르되 여호와의 이름으로 진실한 것 이외에는 아무것도 말하지 말라고 내가 몇 번이나 네게 맹세하게 하여야 하겠느냐 하니

대하18:16 그가 이르되 내가 보니 온 이스라엘이 목자 없는 양 같이 산에 흩어졌는데 여호와의 말씀이 이 무리가 주인이 없으니 각각 평안히 자기들의 집으로 돌아갈 것이니라 하셨나이다 하는지라

대하18:17 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 저 사람이 내게 대하여 좋은 일로 예언하지 아니하고 나쁜 일로만 예언할 것이라고 당신에게 말씀하지 아니하였나이까 하더라

대하18:18 미가야가 이르되 그런즉 왕은 여호와의 말씀을 들으소서 내가 보니 여호와께서 그의 보좌에 앉으셨고 하늘의 만군이 그의 좌우편에 모시고 섰는데

대하18:19 여호와께서 말씀하시기를 누가 이스라엘 왕 아합을 꾀어 그에게 길르앗 라못에 올라가서 죽게 할까 하시니 하나는 이렇게 하겠다 하고 하나는 저렇게 하겠다 하였는데

대하18:20 한 영이 나와서 여호와 앞에 서서 말하되 내가 그를 꾀겠나이다 하니 여호와께서 그에게 이르시되 어떻게 하겠느냐 하시니

대하18:21 그가 이르되 내가 나가서 거짓말하는 영이 되어 그의 모든 선지자들의 입에 있겠나이다 하니 여호와께서 이르시되 너는 꾀겠고 또 이루리라 나가서 그리하라 하셨은즉

대하18:22 이제 보소서 여호와께서 거짓말하는 영을 왕의 이 모든 선지자들의 입에 넣으셨고 또 여호와께서 왕에게 대하여 재앙을 말씀하셨나이다 하니

대하18:23 그나아나의 아들 시드기야가 가까이 와서 미가야의 뺨을 치며 이르되 여호와의 영이 나를 떠나 어디로 가서 네게 말씀하더냐 하는지라

대하18:24 미가야가 이르되 네가 골방에 들어가서 숨는 바로 그 날에 보리라 하더라

대하18:25 이스라엘 왕이 이르되 미가야를 잡아 시장 아몬과 왕자 요아스에게로 끌고 돌아가서

대하18:26 왕이 이같이 말하기를 이 놈을 옥에 가두고 내가 평안히 돌아올 때까지 고난의 떡과 고난의 물을 먹게 하라 하셨나이다 하니

대하18:27 미가야가 이르되 왕이 참으로 평안히 돌아오시게 된다면 여호와께서 내게 말씀하지 아니하셨으리이다 하고 또 이르되 너희 백성들아 다 들을지어다 하니라

대하18:28 이스라엘 왕과 유다 왕 여호사밧이 길르앗 라못으로 올라가니라

대하18:29 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 나는 변장하고 전쟁터로 들어가려 하노니 당신은 왕복을 입으소서 하고 이스라엘 왕이 변장하고 둘이 전쟁터로 들어가니라

대하18:30 아람 왕이 그의 병거 지휘관들에게 이미 명령하여 이르기를 너희는 작은 자나 큰 자나 더불어 싸우지 말고 오직 이스라엘 왕하고만 싸우라 한지라

대하18:31 병거의 지휘관들이 여호사밧을 보고 이르되 이가 이스라엘 왕이라 하고 돌아서서 그와 싸우려 한즉 여호사밧이 소리를 지르매 여호와께서 그를 도우시며 하나님이 그들을 감동시키사 그를 떠나게 하신지라

대하18:32 병거의 지휘관들이 그가 이스라엘 왕이 아님을 보고 추격을 그치고 돌아갔더라

대하18:33 한 사람이 무심코 활을 당겨 이스라엘 왕의 갑옷 솔기를 쏜지라 왕이 그의 병거 모는 자에게 이르되 내가 부상하였으니 네 손을 돌려 나를 진중에서 나가게 하라 하였으나

대하18:34 이 날의 전쟁이 맹렬하였으므로 이스라엘 왕이 병거에서 겨우 지탱하며 저녁 때까지 아람 사람을 막다가 해가 질 즈음에 죽었더라

요한계시록 7 장.

계7:1 이 일 후에 내가 네 천사가 땅 네 모퉁이에 선 것을 보니 땅의 사방의 바람을 붙잡아 바람으로 하여금 땅에나 바다에나 각종 나무에 불지 못하게 하더라

계7:2 또 보매 다른 천사가 살아 계신 하나님의 인을 가지고 해 돋는 데로부터 올라와서 땅과 바다를 해롭게 할 권세를 받은 네 천사를 향하여 큰 소리로 외쳐

계7:3 이르되 우리가 우리 하나님의 종들의 이마에 인치기까지 땅이나 바다나 나무들을 해하지 말라 하더라

계7:4 내가 인침을 받은 자의 수를 들으니 이스라엘 자손의 각 지파 중에서 인침을 받은 자들이 십사만 사천이니

계7:5 유다 지파 중에 인침을 받은 자가 일만 이천이요 르우벤 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 갓 지파 중에 일만 이천이요

계7:6 아셀 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 납달리 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 므낫세 지파 중에 일만 이천이요

계7:7 시므온 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 레위 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 잇사갈 지파 중에 일만 이천이요

계7:8 스불론 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 요셉 지파 중에 일만 이천이요 베냐민 지파 중에 인침을 받은 자가 일만 이천이라

계7:9 이 일 후에 내가 보니 각 나라와 족속과 백성과 방언에서 아무도 능히 셀 수 없는 큰 무리가 나와 흰 옷을 입고 손에 종려 가지를 들고 보좌 앞과 어린 양 앞에 서서

계7:10 큰 소리로 외쳐 이르되 구원하심이 보좌에 앉으신 우리 하나님과 어린 양에게 있도다 하니

계7:11 모든 천사가 보좌와 장로들과 네 생물의 주위에 서 있다가 보좌 앞에 엎드려 얼굴을 대고 하나님께 경배하여

계7:12 이르되 아멘 찬송과 영광과 지혜와 감사와 존귀와 권능과 힘이 우리 하나님께 세세토록 있을 지어다 아멘

계7:13 장로 중 하나가 응답하여 나에게 이 흰 옷 입은 자들이 누구며 또 어디서 왔느냐

계7:14 내가 말하기를 내 주여 당신이 아시나이다 하니 그가 나에게 이르되 이는 큰 환난에서 나오는 자들인데 어린 양의 피에 그 옷을 씻어 희게 하였느니라

계7:15 그러므로 그들이 하나님의 보좌 앞에 있고 또 그의 성전에서 밤낮 하나님을 섬기매 보좌에 앉으신 이가 그들 위에 장막을 치시리니

계7:16 그들이 다시는 주리지도 아니하며 목마르지도 아니하고 해나 아무 뜨거운 기운에 상하지도 아니하리니

계7:17 이는 보좌 가운데에 계신 어린 양이 그들의 목자가 되사 생명수 샘으로 인도하시고 하나님께서 그들의 눈에서 모든 눈물을 씻어 주실 것임이라

스가랴 3 장.

슥3:1 대제사장 여호수아는 여호와의 천사 앞에 섰고 사탄은 그의 오른쪽에 서서 그를 대적하는 것을 여호와께서 내게 보이시니라

슥3:2 여호와께서 사탄에게 이르시되 사탄아 여호와께서 너를 책망하노라 예루살렘을 택한 여호와께서 너를 책망하노라 이는 불에서 꺼낸 그슬린 나무가 아니냐 하실 때에

슥3:3 여호수아가 더러운 옷을 입고 천사 앞에 서 있는지라

슥3:4 여호와께서 자기 앞에 선 자들에게 명령하사 그 더러운 옷을 벗기라 하시고 또 여호수아에게 이르시되 내가 네 죄악을 제거하여 버렸으니 네게 아름다운 옷을 입히리라 하시기로

슥3:5 내가 말하되 정결한 관을 그의 머리에 씌우소서 하매 곧 정결한 관을 그 머리에 씌우며 옷을 입히고 여호와의 천사는 곁에 섰더라

슥3:6 여호와의 천사가 여호수아에게 증언하여 이르되

슥3:7 만군의 여호와의 말씀에 네가 만일 내 도를 행하며 내 규례를 지키면 네가 내 집을 다스릴 것이요 내 뜰을 지킬 것이며 내가 또 너로 여기 섰는 자들 가운데에 왕래하게 하리라

슥3:8 대제사장 여호수아야 너와 네 앞에 앉은 네 동료들은 내 말을 들을 것이니라 이들은 예표의 사람들이라 내가 내 종 싹을 나게 하리라

슥3:9 만군의 여호와가 말하노라 내가 너 여호수아 앞에 세운 돌을 보라 한 돌에 일곱 눈이 있느니라 내가 거기에 새길 것을 새기며 이 땅의 죄악을 하루에 제거하리라

슥3:10 만군의 여호와가 말하노라 그 날에 너희가 각각 포도나무와 무화과나무 아래로 서로 초대하리라 하셨느니라

요한복음 6 장.

요6:1 그 후에 예수께서 디베랴의 갈릴리 바다 건너편으로 가시매

요6:2 큰 무리가 따르니 이는 병자들에게 행하시는 표적을 보았음이러라

요6:3 예수께서 산에 오르사 제자들과 함께 거기 앉으시니

요6:4 마침 유대인의 명절인 유월절이 가까운지라

요6:5 예수께서 눈을 들어 큰 무리가 자기에게로 오는 것을 보시고 빌립에게 이르시되 우리가 어디서 떡을 사서 이 사람들을 먹이겠느냐 하시니

요6:6 이렇게 말씀하심은 친히 어떻게 하실 지를 아시고 빌립을 시험하고자 하심이라

요6:7 빌립이 대답하되 각 사람으로 조금씩 받게 할지라도 이백 데나리온의 떡이 부족하리이다

요6:8 제자 중 하나 곧 시몬 베드로의 형제 안드레가 예수께 여짜오되

요6:9 여기 한 아이가 있어 보리떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리를 가지고 있나이다 그러나 그것이 이 많은 사람에게 얼마나 되겠사옵나이까

요6:10 예수께서 이르시되 이 사람들로 앉게 하라 하시니 그 곳에 잔디가 많은지라 사람들이 앉으니 수가 오천 명쯤 되더라

요6:11 예수께서 떡을 가져 축사하신 후에 앉은 자들에게 나눠 주시고 물고기도 그렇게 그들의 원대로 주시니라

요6:12 그들이 배부른 후에 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 남은 조각을 거두고 버리는 것이 없게 하라 하시므로

요6:13 이에 거두니 보리떡 다섯 개로 먹고 남은 조각이 열두 바구니에 찼더라

요6:14 그 사람들이 예수께서 행하신 이 표적을 보고 말하되 이는 참으로 세상에 오실 그 선지자라 하더라

요6:15 그러므로 예수께서 그들이 와서 자기를 억지로 붙들어 임금으로 삼으려는 줄 아시고 다시 혼자 산으로 떠나가시니라

요6:16 저물매 제자들이 바다에 내려가서

요6:17 배를 타고 바다를 건너 가버나움으로 가는데 이미 어두웠고 예수는 아직 그들에게 오시지 아니하셨더니

요6:18 큰 바람이 불어 파도가 일어나더라

요6:19 제자들이 노를 저어 십여 리쯤 가다가 예수께서 바다 위로 걸어 배에 가까이 오심을 보고 두려워하거늘

요6:20 이르시되 내니 두려워 말라 하신대

요6:21 이에 기뻐서 배로 영접하니 배는 곧 그들이 가려던 땅에 이르렀더라

요6:22 이튿날 바다 건너편에 서 있던 무리가 배 한 척 외에 다른 배가 거기 없는 것과 또 어제 예수께서 제자들과 함께 그 배에 오르지 아니하시고 제자들만 가는 것을 보았더니

요6:23 (그러나 디베랴에서 배들이 주께서 축사하신 후 여럿이 떡 먹던 그곳에 가까이 왔더라)

요6:24 무리가 거기에 예수도 안 계시고 제자들도 없음을 보고 곧 배들을 타고 예수를 찾으러 가버나움으로 가서

요6:25 바다 건너편에서 만나 랍비여 언제 여기 오셨나이까 하니

요6:26 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희가 나를 찾는 것은 표적을 본 까닭이 아니요 떡을 먹고 배부른 까닭이로다

요6:27 썩는 양식을 위하여 일하지 말고 영생하도록 있는 양식을 위하여 하라 이 양식은 인자가 너희에게 주리니 인자는 아버지 하나님께서 인치신 자니라

요6:28 그들이 묻되 우리가 어떻게 하여야 하나님의 일을 하오리이까

요6:29 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 하나님께서 보내신 이를 믿는 것이 하나님의 일이니라 하시니

요6:30 그들이 묻되 그러면 우리가 보고 당신을 믿도록 행하시는 표적이 무엇이니이까, 하시는 일이 무엇이니이까

요6:31 기록된 바 하늘에서 그들에게 떡을 주어 먹게 하였다 함과 같이 우리 조상들은 광야에서 만나를 먹었나이다

요6:32 예수께서 이르시되 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 모세가 너희에게 하늘로부터 떡을 준 것이 아니라 내 아버지께서 너희에게 하늘로부터 참 떡을 주시나니

요6:33 하나님의 떡은 하늘에서 내려 세상에 생명을 주는 것이니라

요6:34 그들이 이르되 주여 이 떡을 항상 우리에게 주소서

요6:35 예수께서 이르시되 나는 생명의 떡이니 내게 오는 자는 결코 주리지 아니할 터이요 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 목마르지 아니하리라

요6:36 그러나 내가 너희에게 이르기를 너희는 나를 보고도 믿지 아니하는도다 하였느니라

요6:37 아버지께서 내게 주시는 자는 다 내게로 올 것이요 내게 오는 자는 내가 결코 내쫓지 아니하리라

요6:38 내가 하늘에서 내려온 것은 내 뜻을 행하려 함이 아니요

요6:39 나를 보내신 이의 뜻을 행하려 함이니라 나를 보내신 이의 뜻은 내게 주신 자 중에 내가 하나도 잃어 버리지 아니하고 마지막 날에 다시 살리는 이것이니라

요6:40 내 아버지의 뜻은 아들을 보고 믿는 자마다 영생을 얻는 이것이니 마지막 날에 내가 이를 다시 살리리라 하시니라

요6:41 자기가 하늘로서 내려온 떡이라 하시므로 유대인들이 예수에 대하여 수군거려

요6:42 이르되 이는 요셉의 아들 예수가 아니냐 그 부모를 우리가 아는데 자기가 지금 어찌하여 하늘에서 내려왔다 하느냐

요6:43 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 너희는 서로 수군거리지 말라

요6:44 나를 보내신 아버지께서 이끌지 아니하시면 아무도 내게 올 수 없으니 오는 그를 내가 마지막 날에 다시 살리리라

요6:45 선지자의 글에 그들이 다 하나님의 가르치심을 받으리라 기록되었은즉 아버지께 듣고 배운 사람마다 내게로 오느니라

요6:46 이는 아버지를 본 자가 있다는 것이 아니니라 오직 하나님에게서 온 자만 아버지를 보았느니라

요6:47 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 믿는 자는 영생을 가졌나니

요6:48 내가 곧 생명의 떡이로다

요6:49 너희 조상들은 광야에서 만나를 먹었어도 죽었거니와

요6:50 이는 하늘에서 내려오는 떡이니 사람으로 하여금 먹고 죽지 아니하게 하는 것이니라

요6:51 나는 하늘에서 내려온 살아 있는 떡이니 사람이 이 떡을 먹으면 영생하리라 내가 줄 떡은 곧 세상의 생명을 위한 내 살이니라 하시니라

요6:52 그러므로 유대인들이 서로 다투어 이르되 이 사람이 어찌 능히 자기 살을 우리에게 주어 먹게 하겠느냐

요6:53 예수께서 이르시되 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 인자의 살을 먹지 아니하고 인자의 피를 마시지 아니하면 너희 속에 생명이 없느니라

요6:54 내 살을 먹고 내 피를 마시는 자는 영생을 가졌고 마지막 날에 내가 그를 다시 살리리니

요6:55 내 살은 참된 양식이요 내 피는 참된 음료로다

요6:56 내 살을 먹고 내 피를 마시는 자는 내 안에 거하고 나도 그의 안에 거하나니

요6:57 살아 계신 아버지께서 나를 보내시매 내가 아버지로 말미암아 사는 것 같이 나를 먹는 그 사람도 나로 말미암아 살리라

요6:58 이것은 하늘에서 내려온 떡이니 조상들이 먹고도 죽은 그것과 같지 아니하여 이 떡을 먹는 자는 영원히 살리라

요6:59 이 말씀은 예수께서 가버나움 회당에서 가르치실 때에 하셨느니라

요6:60 제자 중 여럿이 듣고 말하되 이 말씀은 어렵도다 누가 들을 수 있느냐 한대

요6:61 예수께서 스스로 제자들이 이 말씀에 대하여 수근거리는 줄 아시고 이르시되 이 말이 너희에게 걸림이 되느냐

요6:62 그러면 너희는 인자가 이전에 있던 곳으로 올라가는 것을 본다면 어떻게 하겠느냐

요6:63 살리는 것은 영이니 육은 무익하니라 내가 너희에게 이른 말은 영이요 생명이라

요6:64 그러나 너희 중에 믿지 아니하는 자들이 있느니라 하시니 이는 예수께서 믿지 아니하는 자들이 누구며 자기를 팔 자가 누구인지 처음부터 아심이러라

요6:65 또 이르시되 그러므로 전에 너희에게 말하기를 내 아버지께서 오게 하여 주지 아니하시면 누구든지 내게 올 수 없다 하였노라 하시니라

요6:66 그 때부터 그의 제자 중에서 많은 사람이 떠나가고 다시 그와 함께 다니지 아니하더라

요6:67 예수께서 열두 제자에게 이르시되 너희도 가려느냐

요6:68 시몬 베드로가 대답하되 주여 영생의 말씀이 주께 있사오니 우리가 누구에게로 가오리이까

요6:69 우리가 주는 하나님의 거룩한신 자이신 줄 믿고 알았사옵나이다

요6:70 예수께서 대답하시되 내가 너희 열둘을 택하지 아니하였느냐 그러나 너희 중의 한 사람은 마귀니라 하시니

요6:71 이 말씀은 가룟 시몬의 아들 유다를 가리키심이라 그는 열둘 중의 하나로 예수를 팔 자러라

2 Chronicles 18.

18:1 Now Jehoshaphat had great wealth and honor, and he allied himself with Ahab by marriage.

18:2 Some years later he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria. Ahab slaughtered many sheep and cattle for him and the people with him and urged him to attack Ramoth Gilead.

18:3 Ahab king of Israel asked Jehoshaphat king of Judah, "Will you go with me against Ramoth Gilead?" Jehoshaphat replied, "I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will join you in the war."

18:4 But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, "First seek the counsel of the LORD."

18:5 So the king of Israel brought together the prophets--four hundred men--and asked them, "Shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?" "Go," they answered, "for God will give it into the king's hand."

18:6 But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there not a prophet of the LORD here whom we can inquire of?"

18:7 The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, "There is still one man through whom we can inquire of the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah." "The king should not say that," Jehoshaphat replied.

18:8 So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, "Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once."

18:9 Dressed in their royal robes, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance to the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them.

18:10 Now Zedekiah son of Kenaanah had made iron horns, and he declared, "This is what the LORD says: 'With these you will gore the Arameans until they are destroyed.'"

18:11 All the other prophets were prophesying the same thing. "Attack Ramoth Gilead and be victorious," they said, "for the LORD will give it into the king's hand."

18:12 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, "Look, as one man the other prophets are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably."

18:13 But Micaiah said, "As surely as the LORD lives, I can tell him only what my God says."

18:14 When he arrived, the king asked him, "Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?" "Attack and be victorious," he answered, "for they will be given into your hand."

18:15 The king said to him, "How many times must I make you swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"

18:16 Then Micaiah answered, "I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and the LORD said, 'These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.'"

18:17 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Didn't I tell you that he never prophesies anything good about me, but only bad?"

18:18 Micaiah continued, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the host of heaven standing on his right and on his left.

18:19 And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab king of Israel into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?' "One suggested this, and another that.

18:20 Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.' "'By what means?' the LORD asked.

18:21 "'I will go and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,' he said. "'You will succeed in enticing him,' said the LORD. 'Go and do it.'

18:22 "So now the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you."

18:23 Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah went up and slapped Micaiah in the face. "Which way did the spirit from the LORD go when he went from me to speak to you?" he asked.

18:24 Micaiah replied, "You will find out on the day you go to hide in an inner room."

18:25 The king of Israel then ordered, "Take Micaiah and send him back to Amon the ruler of the city and to Joash the king's son,

18:26 and say, 'This is what the king says: Put this fellow in prison and give him nothing but bread and water until I return safely.'"

18:27 Micaiah declared, "If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me." Then he added, "Mark my words, all you people!"

18:28 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

18:29 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will enter the battle in disguise, but you wear your royal robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

18:30 Now the king of Aram had ordered his chariot commanders, "Do not fight with anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel."

18:31 When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, "This is the king of Israel." So they turned to attack him, but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him,

18:32 for when the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel, they stopped pursuing him.

18:33 But someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the sections of his armor. The king told the chariot driver, "Wheel around and get me out of the fighting. I've been wounded."

18:34 All day long the battle raged, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot facing the Arameans until evening. Then at sunset he died.

Revelation 7.

7:1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.

7:2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:

7:3 "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God."

7:4 Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

7:5 From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed, from the tribe of Reuben 12,000, from the tribe of Gad 12,000,

7:6 from the tribe of Asher 12,000, from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000, from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,

7:7 from the tribe of Simeon 12,000, from the tribe of Levi 12,000, from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,

7:8 from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000, from the tribe of Joseph 12,000, from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.

7:9 After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

7:10 And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."

7:11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,

7:12 saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

7:13 Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes--who are they, and where did they come from?"

7:14 I answered, "Sir, you know." And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

7:15 Therefore, "they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.

7:16 Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat.

7:17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

Zechariah 3.

3:1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.

3:2 The LORD said to Satan, "The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?"

3:3 Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel.

3:4 The angel said to those who were standing before him, "Take off his filthy clothes." Then he said to Joshua, "See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put rich garments on you."

3:5 Then I said, "Put a clean turban on his head." So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the LORD stood by.

3:6 The angel of the LORD gave this charge to Joshua:

3:7 "This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'If you will walk in my ways and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here.

3:8 "'Listen, O high priest Joshua and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.

3:9 See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua! There are seven eyes on that one stone, and I will engrave an inscription on it,' says the LORD Almighty, 'and I will remove the sin of this land in a single day.

3:10 "'In that day each of you will invite his neighbor to sit under his vine and fig tree,' declares the LORD Almighty."

John 6.

6:1 Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias),

6:2 and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the miraculous signs he had performed on the sick.

6:3 Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples.

6:4 The Jewish Passover Feast was near.

6:5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?"

6:6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.

6:7 Philip answered him, "Eight months' wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!"

6:8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up,

6:9 "Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?"

6:10 Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." There was plenty of grass in that place, and the men sat down, about five thousand of them.

6:11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

6:12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted."

6:13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

6:14 After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world."

6:15 Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.

6:16 When evening came, his disciples went down to the lake,

6:17 where they got into a boat and set off across the lake for Capernaum. By now it was dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them.

6:18 A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough.

6:19 When they had rowed three or three and a half miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were terrified.

6:20 But he said to them, "It is I; don't be afraid."

6:21 Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.

6:22 The next day the crowd that had stayed on the opposite shore of the lake realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not entered it with his disciples, but that they had gone away alone.

6:23 Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

6:24 Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus.

6:25 When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?"

6:26 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.

6:27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

6:28 Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"

6:29 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

6:30 So they asked him, "What miraculous sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?

6:31 Our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'"

6:32 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.

6:33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

6:34 "Sir," they said, "from now on give us this bread."

6:35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

6:36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.

6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

6:38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

6:39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.

6:40 For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

6:41 At this the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven."

6:42 They said, "Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, 'I came down from heaven'?"

6:43 "Stop grumbling among yourselves," Jesus answered.

6:44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

6:45 It is written in the Prophets: 'They will all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.

6:46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father.

6:47 I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.

6:48 I am the bread of life.

6:49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died.

6:50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die.

6:51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

6:52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"

6:53 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

6:54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

6:55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.

6:56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.

6:57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.

6:58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever."

6:59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

6:60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, "This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?"

6:61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you?

6:62 What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before!

6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

6:64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.

6:65 He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him."

6:66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

6:67 "You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve.

6:68 Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

6:69 We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."

6:70 Then Jesus replied, "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!"

6:71 (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)
