역대하 32 장.

대하32:1 이 모든 충성된 일을 한 후에 앗수르 왕 산헤립이 유다에 들어와서 견고한 성읍들을 향하여 진을 치고 쳐서 점령하고자 한지라

대하32:2 히스기야가 산헤립이 예루살렘을 치러 온 것을 보고

대하32:3 그의 방백들과 용사들과 더불어 의논하고 성밖의 모든 물 근원을 막고자 하매 그들이 돕더라

대하32:4 이에 백성이 많이 모여 모든 물 근원과 땅으로 흘러가는 시내를 막고 이르되 어찌 앗수르 왕들이 와서 많은 물을 얻게 하리요 하고

대하32:5 히스기야가 힘을 내어 무너진 모든 성벽을 보수하되 망대까지 높이 쌓고 또 외성을 쌓고 다윗 성의 밀로를 견고하게 하고 무기와 방패를 많이 만들고

대하32:6 군대 지휘관들을 세워 백성을 거느리게 하고 성문 광장에서 자기 앞에 무리를 모으고 말로 위로하여 이르되

대하32:7 너희는 마음을 강하게 하며 담대히 하고 앗수르 왕과 그를 따르는 온 무리로 말미암아 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말라 우리와 함께 하시는 이가 그와 함께 하는 자보다 크니

대하32:8 그와 함께 하는 자는 육신의 팔 이요 우리와 함께 하시는 이는 우리의 하나님 여호와시라 반드시 우리를 도우시고 우리를 대신하여 싸우시리라 하매 백성이 유다 왕 히스기야의 말로 말미암아 안심하니라

대하32:9 그 후에 앗수르 왕 산헤립이 그의 온 군대를 거느리고 라기스를 치며 그의 신하들을 예루살렘에 보내어 유다 왕 히스기야와 예루살렘에 있는 유다 무리에게 말하여 이르기를

대하32:10 앗수르 왕 산헤립은 이같이 말하노라 너희가 예루살렘에 에워싸여 있으면서 무엇을 의뢰하느냐

대하32:11 히스기야가 너희를 꾀어 이르기를 우리 하나님 여호와께서 우리를 앗수르 왕의 손에서 건져내시리라 하거니와 이 어찌 너희를 주림과 목마름으로 죽게 함이 아니냐

대하32:12 이 히스기야가 여호와의 산당들과 제단들을 제거하여 버리고 유다와 예루살렘에 명령하여 이르기를 너희는 다만 한 제단 앞에서 예배하고 그 위에 분향하라 하지 아니하였느냐

대하32:13 나와 내 조상들이 이방 모든 백성들에게 행한 것을 너희가 알지 못하느냐 모든 나라의 신들이 능히 그들의 땅을 내 손에서 건져 낼 수 있었느냐

대하32:14 내 조상들이 진멸한 모든 나라의 그 모든 신들 중에 누가 능히 그의 백성을 내 손에서 건져내었기에 너희 하나님이 능히 너희를 내 손에서 건지겠느냐

대하32:15 그런즉 이와 같이 너희는 히스기야에게 속지 말라 꾀임을 받지 말라 그를 믿지도 말라 어떤 백성이나 어떤 나라의 신도 능히 자기의 백성을 나의 손과 나의 조상들의 손에서 건져내지 못하였나니 하물며 너희 하나님이 너희를 내 손에서 건져내겠느냐 하였더라

대하32:16 산헤립의 신하들도 더욱 여호와 하나님과 그의 종 히스기야를 비방하였으며

대하32:17 산헤립이 또 편지를 써 보내어 이스라엘 하나님 여호와를 욕하고 비방하여 이르기를 모든 나라의 신들이 그들의 백성을 내 손에서 구원하여 내지 못한 것 같이 히스기야의 신들도 그의 백성을 내 손에서 구원하여 내지 못하리라 하고

대하32:18 산헤립의 신하가 유다 방언으로 크게 소리 질러 예루살렘 성 위에 있는 백성을 놀라게 하고 괴롭게 하여 그 성을 점령하려 하였는데

대하32:19 그들이 예루살렘의 하나님을 비방하기를 사람의 손으로 지은 세상 사람의 신들을 비방하듯 하였더라

대하32:20 이러므로 히스기야 왕이 아모스의 아들 선지자 이사야와 더불어 하늘을 향하여 부르짖어 기도하였더니

대하32:21 여호와께서 한 천사를 보내어 앗수르 왕의 진영에서 모든 큰 용사와 대장과 지휘관들을 멸하신지라 앗수르 왕이 낯이 뜨거워 그의 고국으로 돌아갔더니 그의 신의 전에 들어갔을 때에 그의 몸에서 난 자들이 거기서 칼로 죽였더라

대하32:22 이와 같이 여호와께서 히스기야와 예루살렘 주민을 앗수르 왕 산헤립의 손과 모든 적국의 손에서 구원하여 내사 사면으로 보호하시매

대하32:23 여러 사람이 예물을 가지고 예루살렘에 와서 여호와께 드리고 또 보물을 유다 왕 히스기야에게 드린지라 이 후부터 히스기야가 모든 나라의 눈에 존귀하게 되었더라

대하32:24 그 때에 히스기야가 병들어 죽게 되었으므로 여호와께 기도하매 여호와께서 그에게 대답하시고 또 이적을 보이셨으나

대하32:25 히스기야가 마음이 교만하여 그 받은 은혜를 보답하지 아니하므로 진노가 그와 유다와 예루살렘에 내리게 되었더니

대하32:26 히스기야가 마음의 교만함을 뉘우치고 예루살렘 주민들도 그와 같이 하였으므로 여호와의 진노가 히스기야의 생전에는 그들에게 내리지 아니하니라

대하32:27 히스기야가 부와 영광이 지극한지라 이에 은금과 보석과 향품과 방패와 온갖 보배로운 그릇들을 위하여 창고를 세우며

대하32:28 곡식과 새 포도주와 기름의 산물을 위하여 창고를 세우며 온갖 짐승의 외양간을 세우며 양 떼의 우리를 갖추며

대하32:29 양 떼와 많은 소 떼를 위하여 성읍들을 세웠으니 이는 하나님이 그에게 재산을 심히 많이 주셨음이며

대하32:30 이 히스기야가 또 기혼의 윗샘물을 막아 그 아래로부터 다윗 성 서쪽으로 곧게 끌어들였으니 히스기야가 그의 모든 일에 형통하였더라

대하32:31 그러나 바벨론 방백들이 히스기야에게 사신을 보내어 그 땅에서 나타난 이적을 물을 때에 하나님이 히스기야를 떠나시고 그의 심중에 있는 것을 다 알고자 하사 시험하셨더라

대하32:32 히스기야의 남은 행적과 그의 모든 선한 일은 아모스의 아들 선지자 이사야의 묵시 책과 유다와 이스라엘 열왕기에 기록되니라

대하32:33 히스기야가 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매 온 유다와 예루살렘 주민이 그를 다윗 자손의 묘실 중 높은 곳에 장사하여 그의 죽음에 그에게 경의를 표하였더라 그의 아들 므낫세가 대신하여 왕이 되니라

요한계시록 18 장.

계18:1 이 일 후에 다른 천사가 하늘에서 내려 오는 것을 보니 큰 권세를 가졌는데 그의 영광으로 땅이 환하여지더라

계18:2 힘찬 음성으로 외쳐 이르되 무너졌도다 무너졌도다 큰 성 바벨론이여 귀신의 처소와 각종 더러운 영이 모이는 곳과 각종 더럽고 가증한 새들이 모이는 곳이 되었도다

계18:3 그 음행의 진노의 포도주로 말미암아 만국이 무너졌으며 또 땅의 왕들이 그와 더불어 음행하였으며 땅의 상인들도 그 사치의 세력으로 치부하였도다 하더라

계18:4 또 내가 들으니 하늘로부터 다른 음성이 나서 이르되 내 백성아, 거기서 나와 그의 죄에 참여하지 말고 그가 받을 재앙들을 받지 말라

계18:5 그의 죄는 하늘에 사무쳤으며 하나님은 그의 불의한 일을 기억하신지라

계18:6 그가 준 그대로 그에게 주고 그의 행위대로 갑절을 갚아 주고 그가 섞은 잔에도 갑절이나 섞어 그에게 주라

계18:7 그가 얼마나 자기를 영화롭게 하였으며 사치하였든지 그만큼 고통과 애통함으로 갚아 주라 그가 마음에 말하기를 나는 여왕으로 앉은 자요 과부가 아니라 결단코 애통함을 당하지 아니하리라 하니

계18:8 그러므로 하루 동안에 그 재앙들이 이르리니 곧 사망과 애통함과 흉년이라 그가 또한 불에 살라지리니 그를 심판하시는 주 하나님은 강하신 자이심이라

계18:9 그와 함께 음행하고 사치하던 땅의 왕들이 그가 불타는 연기를 보고 위하여 울고 가슴을 치며

계18:10 그의 고통을 무서워하여 멀리 서서 이르되 화 있도다 화 있도다 큰 성, 견고한 성 바벨론이여 한 시간에 네 심판이 이르렀다 하리로다

계18:11 땅의 상인들이 그를 위하여 울고 애통하는 것은 다시 그들의 상품을 사는 자가 없음이라

계18:12 그 상품은 금과 은과 보석과 진주와 세마포와 자주 옷감과 비단과 붉은 옷감이요 각종 향목과 각종 상아 그릇이요 값진 나무와 구리와 철과 대리석으로 만든 각종 그릇이요

계18:13 계피와 향료와 향과 향유와 유향과 포도주와 감람유와 고운 밀가루와 밀이요 소와 양과 말과 수레와 종들과 사람의 영혼들이라

계18:14 바벨론아 네 영혼이 탐하던 과일이 네게서 떠났으며 맛있는 것들과 빛난 것들이 다 없어졌으니 사람들이 결코 이것들을 다시 보지 못하리로다

계18:15 바벨론으로 말미암아 치부한 이 상품의 상인들이 그의 고통을 무서워하여 멀리 서서 울고 애통하여

계18:16 이르되 화 있도다 화 있도다 큰 성이여 세마포 옷과 자주 옷과 붉은 옷을 입고 금과 보석과 진주로 꾸민 것인데

계18:17 그러한 부가 한 시간에 망하였도다 모든 선장과 각처를 다니는 선객들과 선원들과 바다에서 일하는 자들이 멀리 서서

계18:18 그가 불타는 연기를 보고 외쳐 이르되 이 큰 성과 같은 성이 어디 있느냐 하며

계18:19 티끌을 자기 머리에 뿌리고 울며 애통하여 외쳐 이르되 화 있도다 화 있도다 이 큰 성이여 바다에서 배 부리는 모든 자들이 너의 보배로운 상품으로 치부하였더니 한 시간에 망하였도다

계18:20 하늘과 성도들아 사도들과 선지자들아, 그로 말미암아 즐거워하라 하나님이 너희를 위하여 그에게 심판을 행하셨음이라 하더라

계18:21 이에 한 힘 센 천사가 큰 맷돌 같은 돌을 들어 바다에 던져 이르되 큰 성 바벨론이 이같이 비참하게 던져져 결코 다시 보이지 아니하리로다

계18:22 또 거문고 타는 자와 풍류하는 자와 퉁소 부는 자와 나팔 부는 자들의 소리가 결코 다시 네 안에서 들리지 아니하고 어떠한 세공업자든지 결코 다시 네 안에서 보이지 아니하고 또 맷돌 소리가 결코 다시 네 안에서 들리지 아니하고

계18:23 등불 빛이 결코 다시 네 안에서 비치지 아니하고 신랑과 신부의 음성이 결코 다시 네 안에서 들리지 아니하리로다 너의 상인들은 땅의 왕족들이라 네 복술로 말미암아 만국이 미혹되었도다

계18:24 선지자들과 성도들과 및 땅 위에서 죽임을 당한 모든 자의 피가 그 성 중에서 발견되었느니라 하더라

스가랴 14 장.

슥14:1 여호와의 날이 이르리라 그 날에 네 재물이 약탈되어 네 가운데에서 나누이리라

슥14:2 내가 이방 나라들을 모아 예루살렘과 싸우게 하리니 성읍이 함락되며 가옥이 약탈되며 부녀가 욕을 당하며 성읍 백성이 절반이나 사로잡혀 가려니와 남은 백성은 성읍에서 끊어지지 아니하리라

슥14:3 그 때에 여호와께서 나가사 그 이방 나라들을 치시되 이왕의 전쟁 날에 싸운 것 같이 하시리라

슥14:4 그 날에 그의 발이 예루살렘 앞 곧 동쪽 감람 산에 서실 것이요 감람 산은 그 한 가운데가 동서로 갈라져 매우 큰 골짜기가 되어서 산 절반은 북으로, 절반은 남으로 옮기고

슥14:5 그 산 골짜기는 아셀까지 이를지라 너희가 그 산 골짜기로 도망하되 유다 왕 웃시야 때에 지진을 피하여 도망하던 것 같이 하리라 나의 하나님 여호와께서 임하실 것이요 모든 거룩한 자들이 주와 함께 하리라

슥14:6 그 날에는 빛이 없겠고 광명한 것들이 떠날 것이라

슥14:7 여호와의 아시는 한 날이 있으리니 낮도 아니요 밤도 아니라 어두워 갈 때에 빛이 있으리로다

슥14:8 그 날에 생수가 예루살렘에서 솟아나서 절반은 동해로, 절반은 서해로 흐를 것이라 여름에도 겨울에도 그러하리라

슥14:9 여호와께서 천하의 왕이 되시리니 그 날에는 여호와께서 홀로 한 분이실 것이요 그의 이름이 홀로 하나이실 것이라

슥14:10 온 땅이 아라바 같이 되되 게바에서 예루살렘 남쪽 림몬까지 이를 것이며 예루살렘이 높이 들려 그 본처에 있으리니 베냐민 문에서부터 첫 문 자리와 성 모퉁이 문까지 또 하나넬 망대에서부터 왕의 포도주 짜는 곳까지라

슥14:11 사람이 그 가운데에 살며 다시는 저주가 있지 아니하리니 예루살렘이 평안히 서리로다

슥14:12 예루살렘을 친 모든 백성에게 여호와께서 내리실 재앙은 이러하니 곧 섰을 때에 그들의 살이 썩으며 그들의 눈동자가 눈구멍 속에서 썩으며 그들의 혀가 입 속에서 썩을 것이요

슥14:13 그 날에 여호와께서 그들을 크게 요란하게 하시리니 피차 손으로 붙잡으며 피차 손을 들어 칠 것이며

슥14:14 유다도 예루살렘에서 싸우리니 이 때에 사방에 있는 이방 나라들의 보화 곧 금 은과 의복이 심히 많이 모여질 것이요

슥14:15 또 말과 노새와 약대와 나귀와 그 진에 있는 모든 가축에게 미칠 재앙도 그 재앙과 같으리라

슥14:16 예루살렘을 치러 왔던 이방 나라들 중에 남은 자가 해마다 올라와서 그 왕 만군의 여호와께 경배하며 초막절을 지킬 것이라

슥14:17 땅에 있는 족속들 중에 그 왕 만군의 여호와께 경배하러 예루살렘에 올라오지 아니하는 자들에게는 비를 내리지 아니하실 것인즉

슥14:18 만일 애굽 족속이 올라오지 아니할 때에는 비 내림이 있지 아니하리니 여호와께서 초막절을 지키러 올라오지 아니하는 이방 나라들의 사람을 치시는 재앙을 그에게 내리실 것이라

슥14:19 애굽 사람이나 이방 나라 사람이나 초막절을 지키러 올라오지 아니하는 자의 받을 벌이 그러하니라

슥14:20 그 날에는 말 방울에까지 여호와께 성결이라 기록될 것이라 여호와의 전에 있는 모든 솥이 제단 앞 주발과 다름이 없을 것이니

슥14:21 예루살렘과 유다의 모든 솥이 만군의 여호와의 성물이 될 것인즉 제사 드리는 자가 와서 이 솥을 가져다가 그것으로 고기를 삶으리라 그 날에는 만군의 여호와의 전에 가나안 사람이 다시 있지 아니하리라 하시니라

요한복음 17 장.

요17:1 예수께서 이 말씀을 하시고 눈을 들어 하늘을 우러러 이르시되 아버지여 때가 이르렀사오니 아들을 영화롭게 하사 아들로 아버지를 영화롭게 하게 하옵소서

요17:2 아버지께서 아들에게 주신 모든 사람에게 영생을 주게 하시려고 만민을 다스리는 권위를 아들에게 주셨음이로소이다

요17:3 영생은 곧 유일하신 참 하나님과 그가 보내신 자 예수 그리스도를 아는 것이니이다

요17:4 아버지께서 내게 하라고 주신 일을 내가 이루어 아버지를 이 세상에서 영화롭게 하였사오니

요17:5 아버지여 창세 전에 내가 아버지와 함께 가졌던 영화로써 지금도 아버지와 함께 나를 영화롭게 하옵소서

요17:6 세상 중에서 내게 주신 사람들에게 내가 아버지의 이름을 나타내었나이다 그들은 아버지의 것이었는데 내게 주셨으며 그들은 아버지의 말씀을 지키었나이다

요17:7 지금 그들은 아버지께서 내게 주신 것이 다 아버지께로부터 온 것인 줄 알았나이다

요17:8 나는 아버지께서 내게 주신 말씀들을 그들에게 주었사오며 그들은 이것을 받고 내가 아버지께로부터 나온 줄을 참으로 아오며 아버지께서 나를 보내신 줄도 믿었사옵나이다

요17:9 내가 그들을 위하여 비옵나니 내가 비옵는 것은 세상을 위함이 아니요 내게 주신 자들을 위함이니이다 그들은 아버지의 것이로소이다

요17:10 내 것은 다 아버지의 것이요 아버지의 것은 내 것이온데 내가 그들로 말미암아 영광을 받았나이다

요17:11 나는 세상에 더 있지 아니하오나 그들은 세상에 있사옵고 나는 아버지께로 가옵나니 거룩하신 아버지여 내게 주신 아버지의 이름으로 그들을 보전하사 우리와 같이 그들도 하나가 되게 하옵소서

요17:12 내가 그들과 함께 있을 때에 내게 주신 아버지의 이름으로 그들을 보전하고 지키었나이다 그 중의 하나도 멸망하지 않고 다만 멸망의 자식뿐이오니 이는 성경을 응하게 함이니이다

요17:13 지금 내가 아버지께로 가오니 내가 세상에서 이 말을 하옵는 것은 그들로 내 기쁨을 그들 안에 충만히 가지게 하려 함이니이다

요17:14 내가 아버지의 말씀을 그들에게 주었사오매 세상이 그들을 미워하였사오니 이는 내가 세상에 속하지 아니함 같이 그들도 세상에 속하지 아니함으로 인함이니이다

요17:15 내가 비옵는 것은 그들을 세상에서 데려가시기를 위함이 아니요 오직 악에 빠지지 않게 보전하시기를 위함이니이다

요17:16 내가 세상에 속하지 아니함 같이 그들도 세상에 속하지 아니하였사옵나이다

요17:17 그들을 진리로 거룩하게 하옵소서 아버지의 말씀은 진리니이다

요17:18 아버지께서 나를 세상에 보내신 것 같이 나도 그들을 세상에 보내었고

요17:19 또 그들을 위하여 내가 나를 거룩하게 하오니 이는 그들도 진리로 거룩함을 얻게 하려 함이니이다

요17:20 내가 비옵는 것은 이 사람들만 위함이 아니요 또 그들의 말로 말미암아 나를 믿는 사람들도 위함이니

요17:21 아버지여, 아버지께서 내 안에, 내가 아버지 안에 있는 것 같이 그들도 다 하나가 되어 우리 안에 있게 하사 세상으로 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것을 믿게 하옵소서

요17:22 내게 주신 영광을 내가 그들에게 주었사오니 이는 우리가 하나가 된 것 같이 그들도 하나가 되게 하려 함이니이다

요17:23 곧 내가 그들 안에 있고 아버지께서 내 안에 계시어 그들로 온전함을 이루어 하나가 되게 하려 함은 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것과 또 나를 사랑하심 같이 그들도 사랑하신 것을 세상으로 알게 하려 함이로소이다

요17:24 아버지여 내게 주신 자도 나 있는 곳에 나와 함께 있어 아버지께서 창세 전부터 나를 사랑하시므로 내게 주신 나의 영광을 그들로 보게 하시기를 원하옵나이다

요17:25 의로우신 아버지여 세상이 아버지를 알지 못하여도 나는 아버지를 알았사옵고 그들도 아버지께서 나를 보내신 줄 알았사옵나이다

요17:26 내가 아버지의 이름을 그들에게 알게 하였고 또 알게 하리니 이는 나를 사랑하신 사랑이 그들 안에 있고 나도 그들 안에 있게 하려 함이니이다

2 Chronicles 32.

32:1 After all that Hezekiah had so faithfully done, Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah. He laid siege to the fortified cities, thinking to conquer them for himself.

32:2 When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he intended to make war on Jerusalem,

32:3 he consulted with his officials and military staff about blocking off the water from the springs outside the city, and they helped him.

32:4 A large force of men assembled, and they blocked all the springs and the stream that flowed through the land. "Why should the kings of Assyria come and find plenty of water?" they said.

32:5 Then he worked hard repairing all the broken sections of the wall and building towers on it. He built another wall outside that one and reinforced the supporting terraces of the City of David. He also made large numbers of weapons and shields.

32:6 He appointed military officers over the people and assembled them before him in the square at the city gate and encouraged them with these words:

32:7 "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him.

32:8 With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles." And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.

32:9 Later, when Sennacherib king of Assyria and all his forces were laying siege to Lachish, he sent his officers to Jerusalem with this message for Hezekiah king of Judah and for all the people of Judah who were there:

32:10 "This is what Sennacherib king of Assyria says: On what are you basing your confidence, that you remain in Jerusalem under siege?

32:11 When Hezekiah says, 'The LORD our God will save us from the hand of the king of Assyria,' he is misleading you, to let you die of hunger and thirst.

32:12 Did not Hezekiah himself remove this god's high places and altars, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, 'You must worship before one altar and burn sacrifices on it'?

32:13 "Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the other lands? Were the gods of those nations ever able to deliver their land from my hand?

32:14 Who of all the gods of these nations that my fathers destroyed has been able to save his people from me? How then can your god deliver you from my hand?

32:15 Now do not let Hezekiah deceive you and mislead you like this. Do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver his people from my hand or the hand of my fathers. How much less will your god deliver you from my hand!"

32:16 Sennacherib's officers spoke further against the LORD God and against his servant Hezekiah.

32:17 The king also wrote letters insulting the LORD, the God of Israel, and saying this against him: "Just as the gods of the peoples of the other lands did not rescue their people from my hand, so the god of Hezekiah will not rescue his people from my hand."

32:18 Then they called out in Hebrew to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to terrify them and make them afraid in order to capture the city.

32:19 They spoke about the God of Jerusalem as they did about the gods of the other peoples of the world--the work of men's hands.

32:20 King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz cried out in prayer to heaven about this.

32:21 And the LORD sent an angel, who annihilated all the fighting men and the leaders and officers in the camp of the Assyrian king. So he withdrew to his own land in disgrace. And when he went into the temple of his god, some of his sons cut him down with the sword.

32:22 So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Assyria and from the hand of all others. He took care of them on every side.

32:23 Many brought offerings to Jerusalem for the LORD and valuable gifts for Hezekiah king of Judah. From then on he was highly regarded by all the nations.

32:24 In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. He prayed to the LORD, who answered him and gave him a miraculous sign.

32:25 But Hezekiah's heart was proud and he did not respond to the kindness shown him; therefore the LORD'S wrath was on him and on Judah and Jerusalem.

32:26 Then Hezekiah repented of the pride of his heart, as did the people of Jerusalem; therefore the LORD'S wrath did not come upon them during the days of Hezekiah.

32:27 Hezekiah had very great riches and honor, and he made treasuries for his silver and gold and for his precious stones, spices, shields and all kinds of valuables.

32:28 He also made buildings to store the harvest of grain, new wine and oil; and he made stalls for various kinds of cattle, and pens for the flocks.

32:29 He built villages and acquired great numbers of flocks and herds, for God had given him very great riches.

32:30 It was Hezekiah who blocked the upper outlet of the Gihon spring and channeled the water down to the west side of the City of David. He succeeded in everything he undertook.

32:31 But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon to ask him about the miraculous sign that had occurred in the land, God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart.

32:32 The other events of Hezekiah's reign and his acts of devotion are written in the vision of the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

32:33 Hezekiah rested with his fathers and was buried on the hill where the tombs of David's descendants are. All Judah and the people of Jerusalem honored him when he died. And Manasseh his son succeeded him as king.

Revelation 18.

18:1 After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor.

18:2 With a mighty voice he shouted: "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird.

18:3 For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries."

18:4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say: "Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues;

18:5 for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.

18:6 Give back to her as she has given; pay her back double for what she has done. Mix her a double portion from her own cup.

18:7 Give her as much torture and grief as the glory and luxury she gave herself. In her heart she boasts, 'I sit as queen; I am not a widow, and I will never mourn.'

18:8 Therefore in one day her plagues will overtake her: death, mourning and famine. She will be consumed by fire, for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.

18:9 "When the kings of the earth who committed adultery with her and shared her luxury see the smoke of her burning, they will weep and mourn over her.

18:10 Terrified at her torment, they will stand far off and cry: "'Woe! Woe, O great city, O Babylon, city of power! In one hour your doom has come!'

18:11 "The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her because no one buys their cargoes any more--

18:12 cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble;

18:13 cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and carriages; and bodies and souls of men.

18:14 "They will say, 'The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your riches and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.'

18:15 The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her will stand far off, terrified at her torment. They will weep and mourn

18:16 and cry out: "'Woe! Woe, O great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls!

18:17 In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!' "Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea, will stand far off.

18:18 When they see the smoke of her burning, they will exclaim, 'Was there ever a city like this great city?'

18:19 They will throw dust on their heads, and with weeping and mourning cry out: "'Woe! Woe, O great city, where all who had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth! In one hour she has been brought to ruin!

18:20 Rejoice over her, O heaven! Rejoice, saints and apostles and prophets! God has judged her for the way she treated you.'"

18:21 Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said: "With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again.

18:22 The music of harpists and musicians, flute players and trumpeters, will never be heard in you again. No workman of any trade will ever be found in you again. The sound of a millstone will never be heard in you again.

18:23 The light of a lamp will never shine in you again. The voice of bridegroom and bride will never be heard in you again. Your merchants were the world's great men. By your magic spell all the nations were led astray.

18:24 In her was found the blood of prophets and of the saints, and of all who have been killed on the earth."

Zechariah 14.

14:1 A day of the LORD is coming when your plunder will be divided among you.

14:2 I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city.

14:3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle.

14:4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.

14:5 You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

14:6 On that day there will be no light, no cold or frost.

14:7 It will be a unique day, without daytime or nighttime--a day known to the LORD. When evening comes, there will be light.

14:8 On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea, in summer and in winter.

14:9 The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name.

14:10 The whole land, from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up and remain in its place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses.

14:11 It will be inhabited; never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.

14:12 This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

14:13 On that day men will be stricken by the LORD with great panic. Each man will seize the hand of another, and they will attack each other.

14:14 Judah too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected--great quantities of gold and silver and clothing.

14:15 A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.

14:16 Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

14:17 If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, they will have no rain.

14:18 If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The LORD will bring on them the plague he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

14:19 This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

14:20 On that day HOLY TO THE LORD will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the LORD'S house will be like the sacred bowls in front of the altar.

John 17.

17:1 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.

17:2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.

17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

17:4 I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.

17:5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

17:6 "I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word.

17:7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you.

17:8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.

17:9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.

17:10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them.

17:11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name--the name you gave me--so that they may be one as we are one.

17:12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.

17:13 "I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.

17:14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.

17:15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.

17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.

17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

17:18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

17:19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

17:20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,

17:21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

17:22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one:

17:23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

17:24 "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

17:25 "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.

17:26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."
