민수기 (Numbers) 21 장.

Numbers 21

민21:1 네겝에 거주하는 가나안 사람 곧 아랏의 왕이 이스라엘이 아다림 길로 온다 함을 듣고 이스라엘을 쳐서 그 중 몇 사람을 사로잡은지라

When the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev, heard that Israel was coming along the road to Atharim, he attacked the Israelites and captured some of them.

민21:2 이스라엘이 여호와께 서원하여 이르되 주께서 만일 이 백성을 내 손에 넘기시면 내가 그들의 성읍을 다 멸하리이다

Then Israel made this vow to the LORD: "If you will deliver these people into our hands, we will totally destroy their cities."

민21:3 여호와께서 이스라엘의 목소리를 들으시고 가나안 사람을 그들의 손에 넘기시매 그들과 그들의 성읍을 다 멸하니라 그러므로 그 곳 이름을 호르마라 하였더라

The LORD listened to Israel's plea and gave the Canaanites over to them. They completely destroyed them and their towns; so the place was named Hormah.

민21:4 백성이 호르 산에서 출발하여 홍해 길을 따라 에돔 땅을 우회하려 하였다가 길로 말미암아 백성의 마음이 상하니라

They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way;

민21:5 백성이 하나님과 모세를 향하여 원망하되 어찌하여 우리를 애굽에서 인도해 내어 이 광야에서 죽게 하는가 이 곳에는 먹을 것도 없고 물도 없도다 우리 마음이 이 하찮은 음식을 싫어하노라 하매

they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!"

민21:6 여호와께서 불뱀들을 백성 중에 보내어 백성을 물게 하시므로 이스라엘 백성 중에 죽은 자가 많은지라

Then the LORD sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died.

민21:7 백성이 모세에게 이르러 말하되 우리가 여호와와 당신을 향하여 원망함으로 범죄하였사오니 여호와께 기도하여 이 뱀들을 우리에게서 떠나게 하소서 모세가 백성을 위하여 기도하매

The people came to Moses and said, "We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us." So Moses prayed for the people.

민21:8 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 불뱀을 만들어 장대 위에 매달아라 물린 자마다 그것을 보면 살리라

The LORD said to Moses, "Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live."

민21:9 모세가 놋뱀을 만들어 장대 위에 다니 뱀에게 물린 자가 놋뱀을 쳐다본즉 모두 살더라

So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.

민21:10 이스라엘 자손이 그 곳을 떠나 오봇에 진을 쳤고

The Israelites moved on and camped at Oboth.

민21:11 오봇을 떠나 모압 앞쪽 해 돋는 쪽 광야 이예아바림에 진을 쳤고

Then they set out from Oboth and camped in Iye Abarim, in the desert that faces Moab toward the sunrise.

민21:12 거기를 떠나 세렛 골짜기에 진을 쳤고

From there they moved on and camped in the Zered Valley.

민21:13 거기를 떠나 아모리인의 영토에서 흘러 나와서 광야에 이른 아르논 강 건너편에 진을 쳤으니 아르논은 모압과 아모리 사이에서 모압의 경계가 된 곳이라

They set out from there and camped alongside the Arnon, which is in the desert extending into Amorite territory. The Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

민21:14 이러므로 여호와의 전쟁기에 일렀으되 수바의 와헙과 아르논 골짜기와

That is why the Book of the Wars of the LORD says: "...Waheb in Suphah and the ravines, the Arnon

민21:15 모든 골짜기의 비탈은 아르 고을을 향하여 기울어지고 모압의 경계에 닿았도다 하였더라

and the slopes of the ravines that lead to the site of Ar and lie along the border of Moab."

민21:16 거기서 브엘에 이르니 브엘은 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하시기를 백성을 모으라 내가 그들에게 물을 주리라 하시던 우물이라

From there they continued on to Beer, the well where the LORD said to Moses, "Gather the people together and I will give them water."

민21:17 그 때에 이스라엘이 노래하여 이르되 우물물아 솟아나라 너희는 그것을 노래하라

Then Israel sang this song: "Spring up, O well! Sing about it,

민21:18 이 우물은 지휘관들이 팠고 백성의 귀인들이 규와 지팡이로 판 것이로다 하였더라 그들은 광야에서 맛다나에 이르렀고

about the well that the princes dug, that the nobles of the people sank--the nobles with scepters and staffs." Then they went from the desert to Mattanah,

민21:19 맛다나에서 나할리엘에 이르렀고 나할리엘에서 바못에 이르렀고

from Mattanah to Nahaliel, from Nahaliel to Bamoth,

민21:20 바못에서 모압 들에 있는 골짜기에 이르러 광야가 내려다 보이는 비스가 산 꼭대기에 이르렀더라

and from Bamoth to the valley in Moab where the top of Pisgah overlooks the wasteland.

민21:21 이스라엘이 아모리 왕 시혼에게 사신을 보내어 이르되

Israel sent messengers to say to Sihon king of the Amorites:

민21:22 우리에게 당신의 땅을 지나가게 하소서 우리가 밭에든지 포도원에든지 들어가지 아니하며 우물물도 마시지 아니하고 당신의 지경에서 다 나가기까지 왕의 큰길로만 지나가리이다 하나

"Let us pass through your country. We will not turn aside into any field or vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will travel along the king's highway until we have passed through your territory."

민21:23 시혼이 이스라엘이 자기 영토로 지나감을 용납하지 아니하고 그의 백성을 다 모아 이스라엘을 치러 광야로 나와서 야하스에 이르러 이스라엘을 치므로

But Sihon would not let Israel pass through his territory. He mustered his entire army and marched out into the desert against Israel. When he reached Jahaz, he fought with Israel.

민21:24 이스라엘이 칼날로 그들을 쳐서 무찌르고 그 땅을 아르논에서부터 얍복까지 점령하여 암몬 자손에게까지 미치니 암몬 자손의 경계는 견고하더라

Israel, however, put him to the sword and took over his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, but only as far as the Ammonites, because their border was fortified.

민21:25 이스라엘이 이같이 그 모든 성읍 을 빼앗고 그 아모리인의 모든 성읍 헤스본과 그 모든 촌락에 거주하였으니

Israel captured all the cities of the Amorites and occupied them, including Heshbon and all its surrounding settlements.

민21:26 헤스본은 아모리인의 왕 시혼의 도성이라 시혼이 그 전 모압 왕을 치고 그의 모든 땅을 아르논까지 그의 손에서 빼앗았더라

Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken from him all his land as far as the Arnon.

민21:27 그러므로 시인이 읊어 이르되 너희는 헤스본으로 올지어다 시혼의 성을 세워 견고히 할 지어다

That is why the poets say: "Come to Heshbon and let it be rebuilt; let Sihon's city be restored.

민21:28 헤스본에서 불이 나오며 시혼의 성에서 화염이 나와서 모압의 아르를 삼키며 아르논 높은 곳의 주인을 멸하였도다

"Fire went out from Heshbon, a blaze from the city of Sihon. It consumed Ar of Moab, the citizens of Arnon's heights.

민21:29 모압아 네가 화를 당하였도다 그모스의 백성아 네가 멸망하였도다 그가 그의 아들들을 도망하게 하였고 그의 딸들을 아모리인의 왕 시혼의 포로가 되게 하였도다

Woe to you, O Moab! You are destroyed, O people of Chemosh! He has given up his sons as fugitives and his daughters as captives to Sihon king of the Amorites.

민21:30 우리가 그들을 쏘아서 헤스본을 디본까지 멸하였고 메드바에 가까운 노바까지 황폐하게 하였도다

"But we have overthrown them; Heshbon is destroyed all the way to Dibon. We have demolished them as far as Nophah, which extends to Medeba."

민21:31 이스라엘이 아모리인의 땅에 거주하였더니

So Israel settled in the land of the Amorites.

민21:32 모세가 또 사람을 보내어 야셀을 정탐하게 하고 그 촌락들을 빼앗고 그 곳에 있던 아모리인을 몰아 내었더라

After Moses had sent spies to Jazer, the Israelites captured its surrounding settlements and drove out the Amorites who were there.

민21:33 그들이 돌이켜 바산 길로 올라가매 바산 왕 옥이 그의 백성을 다 거느리고 나와서 그들을 맞아 에드레이에서 싸우려 하는지라

Then they turned and went up along the road toward Bashan, and Og king of Bashan and his whole army marched out to meet them in battle at Edrei.

민21:34 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 그를 두려워하지 말라 내가 그와 그의 백성과 그의 땅을 네 손에 넘겼나니 너는 헤스본에 거주하던 아모리인의 왕 시혼에게 행한 것 같이 그에게도 행할지니라

The LORD said to Moses, "Do not be afraid of him, for I have handed him over to you, with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon."

민21:35 이에 그와 그의 아들들과 그의 백성을 다 쳐서 한 사람도 남기지 아니하고 그의 땅을 점령하였더라

So they struck him down, together with his sons and his whole army, leaving them no survivors. And they took possession of his land.

민수기 (Numbers) 22 장.

Numbers 22

민22:1 이스라엘 자손이 또 길을 떠나 모압 평지에 진을 쳤으니 요단 건너편 곧 여리고 맞은편이더라

Then the Israelites traveled to the plains of Moab and camped along the Jordan across from Jericho.

민22:2 십볼의 아들 발락이 이스라엘이 아모리인에게 행한 모든 일을 보았으므로

Now Balak son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites,

민22:3 모압이 심히 두려워하였으니 이스라엘 백성이 많음으로 말미암아 모압이 이스라엘 자손 때문에 번민하더라

and Moab was terrified because there were so many people. Indeed, Moab was filled with dread because of the Israelites.

민22:4 미디안 장로들에게 이르되 이제 이 무리가 소가 밭의 풀을 뜯어먹음 같이 우리 사방에 있는 것을 다 뜯어먹으리로다 하니 그 때에 십볼의 아들 발락이 모압 왕이었더라

The Moabites said to the elders of Midian, "This horde is going to lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field." So Balak son of Zippor, who was king of Moab at that time,

민22:5 그가 사신을 브올의 아들 발람의 고향인 강 가 브돌에 보내어 발람을 부르게 하여 이르되 보라 한 민족이 애굽에서 나왔는데 그들이 지면에 덮여서 우리 맞은편에 거주하였고

sent messengers to summon Balaam son of Beor, who was at Pethor, near the River, in his native land. Balak said: "A people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have settled next to me.

민22:6 우리보다 강하니 청하건대 와서 나를 위하여 이 백성을 저주하라 내가 혹 그들을 쳐서 이겨 이 땅에서 몰아내리라 그대가 복을 비는 자는 복을 받고 저주하는 자는 저주를 받을 줄을 내가 앎이니라

Now come and put a curse on these people, because they are too powerful for me. Perhaps then I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the country. For I know that those you bless are blessed, and those you curse are cursed."

민22:7 모압 장로들과 미디안 장로들이 손에 복채를 가지고 떠나 발람에게 이르러 발락의 말을그에게 전하매

The elders of Moab and Midian left, taking with them the fee for divination. When they came to Balaam, they told him what Balak had said.

민22:8 발람이 그들에게 이르되 이 밤에 여기서 유숙하라 여호와께서 내게 이르시는 대로 너희에게 대답하리라 모압 귀족들이 발람에게서 유숙하니라

"Spend the night here," Balaam said to them, "and I will bring you back the answer the LORD gives me." So the Moabite princes stayed with him.

민22:9 하나님이 발람에게 임하여 말씀하시되 너와 함께 있는 이 사람들이 누구냐

God came to Balaam and asked, "Who are these men with you?"

민22:10 발람이 하나님께 아뢰되 모압 왕 십볼의 아들 발락이 내게 보낸 자들이니이다

Balaam said to God, "Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, sent me this message:

민22:11 보라 애굽에서 나온 민족이 지면에 덮였으니 이제 와서 나를 위하여 그들을 저주하라 내가 혹 그들을 쳐서 몰아낼 수 있으리라 하나이다

'A people that has come out of Egypt covers the face of the land. Now come and put a curse on them for me. Perhaps then I will be able to fight them and drive them away.'"

민22:12 하나님이 발람에게 이르시되 너는 그들과 함께 가지도 말고 그 백성을 저주하지도 말라 그들은 복을 받은 자들이니라

But God said to Balaam, "Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed."

민22:13 발람이 아침에 일어나서 발락의 귀족들에게 이르되 너희는 너희의 땅으로 돌아가라 여호와께서 내가 너희와 함께 가기를 허락하지 아니하시느니라

The next morning Balaam got up and said to Balak's princes, "Go back to your own country, for the LORD has refused to let me go with you."

민22:14 모압 귀족들이 일어나 발락에게로 가서 전하되 발람이 우리와 함께 오기를 거절하더이다

So the Moabite princes returned to Balak and said, "Balaam refused to come with us."

민22:15 발락이 다시 그들보다 더 높은 고관들을 더 많이 보내매

Then Balak sent other princes, more numerous and more distinguished than the first.

민22:16 그들이 발람에게로 나아가서 그에게 이르되 십볼의 아들 발락의 말씀에 청하건대 아무것에도 거리끼지 말고 내게로 오라

They came to Balaam and said: "This is what Balak son of Zippor says: Do not let anything keep you from coming to me,

민22:17 내가 그대를 높여 크게 존귀하게 하고 그대가 내게 말하는 것은 무엇이든지 시행하리니 청하건대 와서 나를 위하여 이 백성을 저주하라 하시더이다

because I will reward you handsomely and do whatever you say. Come and put a curse on these people for me."

민22:18 발람이 발락의 신하들에게 대답하여 이르되 발락이 그 집에 가득한 은금을 내게 줄지라도 내가 능히 여호와 내 하나님의 말씀을 어겨 덜하거나 더하지 못하겠노라

But Balaam answered them, "Even if Balak gave me his palace filled with silver and gold, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the LORD my God.

민22:19 그런즉 이제 너희도 이 밤에 여기서 유숙하라 여호와께서 내게 무슨 말씀을 더하실는지 알아보리라

Now stay here tonight as the others did, and I will find out what else the LORD will tell me."

민22:20 밤에 하나님이 발람에게 임하여 이르시되 그 사람들이 너를 부르러 왔거든 일어나 함께 가라 그러나 내가 네게 이르는 말만 준행할지니라

That night God came to Balaam and said, "Since these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you."

민22:21 발람이 아침에 일어나서 자기 나귀에 안장을 지우고 모압 고관들과 함께 가니

Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the princes of Moab.

민22:22 그가 감으로 말미암아 하나님이 진노하시므로 여호와의 사자가 그를 막으려고 길에 서니라 발람은 자기 나귀를 탔고 그의 두 종은 그와 함께 있더니

But God was very angry when he went, and the angel of the LORD stood in the road to oppose him. Balaam was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.

민22:23 나귀가 여호와의 사자가 칼을 빼어 손에 들고 길에 선 것을 보고 길에서 벗어나 밭으로 들어간지라 발람이 나귀를 길로 돌이키려고 채찍질하니

When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, she turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat her to get her back on the road.

민22:24 여호와의 사자는 포도원 사이 좁은 길에 섰고 좌우에는 담이 있더라

Then the angel of the LORD stood in a narrow path between two vineyards, with walls on both sides.

민22:25 나귀가 여호와의 사자를 보고 몸을 담에 대고 발람의 발을 그 담에 짓누르매 발람이 다시 채찍질하니

When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she pressed close to the wall, crushing Balaam's foot against it. So he beat her again.

민22:26 여호와의 사자가 더 나아가서 좌우로 피할 데 없는 좁은 곳에 선지라

Then the angel of the LORD moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left.

민22:27 나귀가 여호와의 사자를 보고 발람 밑에 엎드리니 발람이 노하여 자기 지팡이로 나귀를 때리는지라

When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she lay down under Balaam, and he was angry and beat her with his staff.

민22:28 여호와께서 나귀 입을 여시니 발람에게 이르되 내가 당신에게 무엇을 하였기에 나를 이같이 세 번을 때리느냐

Then the LORD opened the donkey's mouth, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?"

민22:29 발람이 나귀에게 말하되 네가 나를 거역하기 때문이니 내 손에 칼이 있었다면 곧 너를 죽였으리라

Balaam answered the donkey, "You have made a fool of me! If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now."

민22:30 나귀가 발람에게 이르되 나는 당신이 오늘까지 당신의 일생 동안 탄 나귀가 아니냐 내가 언제 당신에게 이같이 하는 버릇이 있었더냐 그가 말하되 없었느니라

The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?" "No," he said.

민22:31 그 때에 여호와께서 발람의 눈을 밝히시매 여호와의 사자가 손에 칼을 빼들고 길에 선 것을 그가 보고 머리를 숙이고 엎드리니

Then the LORD opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.

민22:32 여호와의 사자가 그에게 이르되 너는 어찌하여 네 나귀를 이같이 세 번 때렸느냐 보라 내 앞에서 네 길이 사악하므로 내가 너를 막으려고 나왔더니

The angel of the LORD asked him, "Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me.

민22:33 나귀가 나를 보고 이같이 세 번을 돌이켜 내 앞에서 피하였느니라 나귀가 만일 돌이켜 나를 피하지 아니하였더면 내가 벌써 너를 죽이고 나귀는 살렸으리라

The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared her."

민22:34 발람이 여호와의 사자에게 말하되 내가 범죄하였나이다 당신이 나를 막으려고 길에 서신 줄을 내가 알지 못하였나이다 당신이 이를 기뻐하지 아니하시면 나는 돌아가겠나이다

Balaam said to the angel of the LORD, "I have sinned. I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back."

민22:35 여호와의 사자가 발람에게 이르되 그 사람들과 함께 가라 내가 네게 이르는 말만 말할지니라 발람이 발락의 고관들과 함께 가니라

The angel of the LORD said to Balaam, "Go with the men, but speak only what I tell you." So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

민22:36 발락은 발람이 온다 함을 듣고 모압 변경의 끝 아르논 가에 있는 성읍까지 가서 그를 영접하고

When Balak heard that Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the Moabite town on the Arnon border, at the edge of his territory.

민22:37 발락은 발람에게 이르되 내가 특별히 사람을 보내어 그대를 부르지 아니하였느냐 그대가 어찌 내게 오지 아니하였느냐 내가 어찌 그대를 높여 존귀하게 하지 못하겠느냐

Balak said to Balaam, "Did I not send you an urgent summons? Why didn't you come to me? Am I really not able to reward you?"

민22:38 발람이 발락에게 이르되 내가 오기는 하였으나 무엇을 말할 능력이 있으리이까 하나님이 내 입에 주시는 말씀 그것을 말할 뿐이니이다

"Well, I have come to you now," Balaam replied. "But can I say just anything? I must speak only what God puts in my mouth."

민22:39 발람이 발락과 동행하여 기럇후솟에 이르러서는

Then Balaam went with Balak to Kiriath Huzoth.

민22:40 발락이 소와 양을 잡아 발람과 그와 함께 한 고관들을 대접하였더라

Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep, and gave some to Balaam and the princes who were with him.

민22:41 아침에 발락이 발람과 함께 하고 그를 인도하여 바알의 산당에 오르매 발람이 거기서 이스라엘 백성의 진 끝까지 보니라

The next morning Balak took Balaam up to Bamoth Baal, and from there he saw part of the people.

민수기 (Numbers) 23 장.

Numbers 23

민23:1 발람이 발락에게 이르되 나를 위하여 여기 제단 일곱을 쌓고 거기 수송아지 일곱 마리와 숫양 일곱 마리를 준비하소서 하매

Balaam said, "Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me."

민23:2 발락이 발람의 말대로 준비한 후에 발락과 발람이 제단에 수송아지와 숫양을 드리니라

Balak did as Balaam said, and the two of them offered a bull and a ram on each altar.

민23:3 발람이 발락에게 이르되 당신의 번제물 곁에 서소서 나는 저리로 가리이다 여호와께서 혹시 오셔서 나를 만나시리니 그가 내게 지시하시는 것은 다 당신에게 알리리이다 하고 언덕길로 가니

Then Balaam said to Balak, "Stay here beside your offering while I go aside. Perhaps the LORD will come to meet with me. Whatever he reveals to me I will tell you." Then he went off to a barren height.

민23:4 하나님이 발람에게 임하시는지라 발람이 아뢰되 내가 일곱 제단을 쌓고 각 제단에 수송아지와 숫양을 드렸나이다

God met with him, and Balaam said, "I have prepared seven altars, and on each altar I have offered a bull and a ram."

민23:5 여호와께서 발람의 입에 말씀을 주시며 이르시되 발락에게 돌아가서 이렇게 말할지니라

The LORD put a message in Balaam's mouth and said, "Go back to Balak and give him this message."

민23:6 그가 발락에게로 돌아간즉 발락과 모압의 모든 고관이 번제물 곁에 함께 섰더라

So he went back to him and found him standing beside his offering, with all the princes of Moab.

민23:7 발람이 예언을 전하여 말하되 발락이 나를 아람에서, 모압 왕이 동쪽 산에서 데려다가 이르기를 와서 나를 위하여 야곱을 저주하라, 와서 이스라엘을 꾸짖으라 하도다

Then Balaam uttered his oracle: "Balak brought me from Aram, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains. 'Come,' he said, 'curse Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel.'

민23:8 하나님이 저주하지 않으신 자를 내가 어찌 저주하며 여호와께서 꾸짖지 않으신 자를 내가 어찌 꾸짖으랴

How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I denounce those whom the LORD has not denounced?

민23:9 내가 바위 위에서 그들을 보며 작은 산에서 그들을 바라보니 이 백성은 홀로 살 것이라 그를 여러 민족 중의 하나로 여기지 않으리로다

From the rocky peaks I see them, from the heights I view them. I see a people who live apart and do not consider themselves one of the nations.

민23:10 야곱의 티끌을 누가 능히 세며 이스라엘 사분의 일을 누가 능히 셀꼬 나는 의인의 죽음을 죽기 원하며 나의 종말이 그와 같기를 바라노라 하매

Who can count the dust of Jacob or number the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and may my end be like theirs!"

민23:11 발락이 발람에게 이르되 그대가 어찌 내게 이같이 행하느냐 나의 원수를 저주하라고 그대를 데려왔거늘 그대가 오히려 축복하였도다

Balak said to Balaam, "What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but you have done nothing but bless them!"

민23:12 발람이 대답하여 이르되 여호와께서 내 입에 주신 말씀을 내가 어찌 말하지 아니할 수 있으리이까

He answered, "Must I not speak what the LORD puts in my mouth?"

민23:13 발락이 말하되 나와 함께 그들을 달리 볼 곳으로 가자 거기서는 그들을 다 보지 못하고 그들의 끝만 보리니 거기서 나를 위하여 그들을 저주하라 하고

Then Balak said to him, "Come with me to another place where you can see them; you will see only a part but not all of them. And from there, curse them for me."

민23:14 소빔 들로 인도하여 비스가 꼭대기에 이르러 일곱 제단을 쌓고 각 제단에 수송아지와 숫양을 드리니

So he took him to the field of Zophim on the top of Pisgah, and there he built seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.

민23:15 발람이 발락에게 이르되 내가 저기서 여호와를 만나뵐 동안에 여기 당신의 번제물 곁에 서소서 하니라

Balaam said to Balak, "Stay here beside your offering while I meet with him over there."

민23:16 여호와께서 발람에게 임하사 그의 입에 말씀을 주시며 이르시되 발락에게로 돌아가서 이렇게 말할지니라

The LORD met with Balaam and put a message in his mouth and said, "Go back to Balak and give him this message."

민23:17 발람이 가서 본즉 발락이 번제물 곁에 섰고 모압 고관들이 함께 있더라 발락이 발람에게 이르되 여호와께서 무슨 말씀을 하시더냐

So he went to him and found him standing beside his offering, with the princes of Moab. Balak asked him, "What did the LORD say?"

민23:18 발람이 예언하여 이르기를 발락이여 일어나 들을지어다 십볼의 아들이여 내게 자세히 들으라

Then he uttered his oracle: "Arise, Balak, and listen; hear me, son of Zippor.

민23:19 하나님은 사람이 아니시니 거짓말을 하지 않으시고 인생이 아니시니 후회가 없으시도다 어찌 그 말씀하신 바를 행하지 않으시며 하신 말씀을 실행하지 않으시랴

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

민23:20 내가 축복할 것을 받았으니 그가 주신 복을 내가 돌이키지 않으리라

I have received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot change it.

민23:21 야곱의 허물을 보지 아니하시며 이스라엘의 반역을 보지 아니하시는도다 여호와 그들의 하나님이 그들과 함께 계시니 왕을 부르는 소리가 그 중에 있도다

"No misfortune is seen in Jacob, no misery observed in Israel. The LORD their God is with them; the shout of the King is among them.

민23:22 하나님이 그들을 애굽에서 인도하여 내셨으니 그의 힘이 들소와 같도다

God brought them out of Egypt; they have the strength of a wild ox.

민23:23 야곱을 해할 점술이 없고 이스라엘을 해할 복술이 없도다 이 때에 야곱과 이스라엘에 대하여 논할진대 하나님께서 행하신 일이 어찌 그리 크냐 하리로다

There is no sorcery against Jacob, no divination against Israel. It will now be said of Jacob and of Israel, 'See what God has done!'

민23:24 이 백성이 암사자 같이 일어나고 수사자 같이 일어나서 움킨 것을 먹으며 죽인 피를 마시기 전에는 눕지 아니하리로다 하매

The people rise like a lioness; they rouse themselves like a lion that does not rest till he devours his prey and drinks the blood of his victims."

민23:25 발락이 발람에게 이르되 그들을 저주하지도 말고 축복하지도 말라

Then Balak said to Balaam, "Neither curse them at all nor bless them at all!"

민23:26 발람이 발락에게 대답하여 이르되 내가 당신에게 말하여 이르기를 여호와께서 말씀하신 것은 내가 그대로 하지 않을 수 없다고 하지 아니하더이까

Balaam answered, "Did I not tell you I must do whatever the LORD says?"

민23:27 발락이 발람에게 또 이르되 오라 내가 너를 다른 곳으로 인도하리니 네가 거기서 나를 위하여 그들을 저주하기를 하나님이 혹시 기뻐하시리라 하고

Then Balak said to Balaam, "Come, let me take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God to let you curse them for me from there."

민23:28 발락이 발람을 인도하여 광야가 내려다 보이는 브올 산꼭대기에 이르니

And Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, overlooking the wasteland.

민23:29 발람이 발락에게 이르되 나를 위하여 여기 일곱 제단을 쌓고 거기 수송아지 일곱 마리와 숫양 일곱 마리를 준비하소서

Balaam said, "Build me seven altars here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me."

민23:30 발락이 발람의 말대로 행하여 각 제단에 수송아지와 숫양을 드리니라

Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bull and a ram on each altar.
